The tray bottom dimensions are 3 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches

I only want to use two trays in my lab. Can this tray be used elsewhere?

Depends on what else you want to use it for, however, they can be autoclaved and are reusable.

How do you remove the green plastic film on the trays?

I left that thin cover on. I just looked and noticed that it is peeling off very slightly by itself. So I would guess that it would come off easily if the tray would be immersed in hot water. I liked that it was there because it indicated that they were not used and returned. Also, they prevented scratches, etc. while being shipped.
