Be safe, get one of these.
I bought this to check the current draw on a 3s lipo powertrain in a model glider. Not being a elektrishun I'd nearly set fire to it in the air using the wrong prop/esc.It works fine so I was quickly able to check that the replacement prop/esc combination didn't draw too much power and it now runs at a safe temperature.I should have learned the sums and got one of these sooner to check me riffmatik woz rite :-)It doesn't have any connectors so you'll need to be able to solder on whichever type you require.

OK device for the money
Works as intended and it is a good sturdy unit. The only negative is that it cannot measure anything <0.10A or <1.0W. The resolution is true that it goes by 0.01A and 0.1W, but if current is <0.10A and/or wattage is <1.0W it does not register on the device, it just shows 0. So, for the amps it shows for example 0.11 then 0.10 and if it drops to 0.09 it will show 0.

Gives the important basic information
There are a few comments regarding the accuracy of the results where perhaps are correct but for the price one cannot expect a scientific instrumentSelf contained requiring the power source to enable the screen to illuminateObviously has a buck converter system to control the final voltage to the displayDon’t expect the display to illuminate when using anything under 4to 5 volt but perfect at Lipo 2S voltage @ 7.2 vBetter value than the price would indicate

Excellent Device
Does what it says on the box. Worked first time. I’m using it to monitor the power consumption of my Diesel Heater in my garage. Can be used for many power monitoring purposes.

Does not meet stated specifications
The external construction is good, with what looks like two extruded half shells, and screw-attached end plates to hold it together. The display is bright and clear. The specification claims it works on 7mA. Measured values on no-load:15mA @ 12V; 21mA @ 24V; 35mA @ 50V; 40mA @ 60V.40mA @ 60V = 2.4W. That is a ridiculous amount of power! It claims to run from 4V from auxiliary power. You might therefore reasonably expect that it will measure from 4V on the main input (since nothing is stated). Actually it just about wakes up at 6.9V, but really needs 7.5V for a nice bright readable display. As stated by others, there is no pinout available for the (unknown) three pin connection type. The “manual” (single A4 sheet) claims it is made in the USA. The box says China. If you can tolerate the fact that it only works properly above 7.5V, and that it consumes more power than it says, then 3 stars is reasonable. I can’t use it with that spec, so it is being returned as unfit for purpose, and not to spec.Leslie Green CEng MIEE

A useful power meter at a very reasonable price
I wired this up to monitor the output from a small solar panel charging a 12V lead acid battery. It appears to be accurate and reliable so far (about 2 weeks use). My one criticism is the poor 'guide' which accompanied it. I wanted to connect an auxiliary battery/power supply so that the meter does not go off and reset to zero when the solar panel output ceases. Only by searching the internet and a bit of trial an error could I deduce the correct way to connect this and the right connector to use. Otherwise it is a great bit of kit at a very reasonable price.
