Hefty strings for a new buiild
I got these to go with a build I did and they are tremendous sounding. I usually use another brand, but these Cobalt strings got me doing a second listen for sure. They're kind of thick, considering I usually use 9-42, but the tone really comes out with the Invader Single Coils I got from SD. Being a little thicker I do notice they have a longer wear in time. They keep a tune while playing, and rarely have to check the tuning during sessions... if I didn't want to.

Love them now
I had bad luck with string breakage on some of the first runs of these. I'm glad I gave them another try after some time. No more breakages and the sound is amazing. A little extra grit and output at the same gain level and very harmonic (some may not like that I guess as it does accentuate pick chirp a bit). The feel is a bit different, but I love them. I hope they make them forever.

These are Expensive, but worth the extra money in both Feel and Tone
These cost about double the standard strings in equivalent gauges, but they play exceptionally well and sound great. I tried them out after reading reviews from several artists who stated that they feel broken in out of the bag and I agree. Bends and vibrato seem easier to me with these as they don't feel stiff like many new strings do. The tone lasts for a long time, but they do gum up with the finger grunge and become slightly discolored after a moderate amount of playing. A quick wipe with lemon oil or guitar polish will clear up the grunge and the sound remains nice and full longer than others despite being darker where you play a lot. If you don't like having to play for a week or two to get that broken in feeling, these are great and the tone is warm and full for a long time. I keep mine on for about twice as long as the standards, so the extra cost works itself out without as many string changes.

Great Strings from a Great Company!
It's really hard to find something that's truly bad about an Ernie Ball product, I've been playing guitar for over 10 years, and I play many kinds of music from classic rock/metal, alternative/grunge, worship at church, even country and all the way to metalcore, and I have yet to really say anything bad about an Ernie Ball product, because I have never had one come that wasn't as advertised. Top heavy bottom has been established as the ultimate for metal, going all the way to classic like the greats, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Slayer, and even all the way to modern metal/nu metal/metalcore such as Nightwish, Within Temptation, Korn, Slipknot, and Arch Enemy, and these strings fit the bill excellently. They have a great resound, fantastic resonance, and have been very durable. I get great sounds through my setup with my Gretsch and all, and they're even great for basic rock all the way up to metalcore! With the right setup you can go from alternative like Seether, to progressive metal like Dream Theater, and still shred out Master of Puppets without an issue!

Great strings
I'd been using the Ernie Ball Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom's (non-Cobalt) for some time, and have always been impressed by the range provided by the different gauges of the guitar strings. They were always very bright and slinky. The bottom end was very deep and resonating, where as the top is very slinky and straight. I decided to move over to the Cobalt to try something new. While there isn't a big difference in overall feel (they are a bit tighter overall,) the sound is a bit different. They resonate a bit more, and have a bit more crunchy sound. These strings do show some physical wear near the bridge, where I strum, compared to my typical copper choice, but it doesn't seem to affect the actual strings. Overall, I would look into purchasing another set, as they provide positive effects to my overall sound.

Awesome! I found my strings. Wondering why I never used heavy bottom/ light top strings before. Great for bluesy riffing/higher pitched bends and fills. The quality and sound of these are very good. They are great for tuning down as low as C#. Incidentally, they are almost the same guage that BB King used except that the two bottom strings are 42 & 52, his were 44 & 54 I believe. Anyhoo, these are my strings going forward.
