The BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter 100-220V to 110V Voltage Converter is Outstanding !!!
BESTEK Universal Travel Adapters 100-220V to 110V are outstanding: I live outside the U.S. in an Asian Country that uses 240V power in the homes, rather than 110V. So I cannot plug my many American purchased computers, shredders, air purifiers, etc. directly into the outlets or they will blow up. So I have purchased at least 5-6 of these Bestek Universal Voltage Converters over the past three years and they work great! They are high quality and very effective and reliable. They have 3 outlets each and 4 USB plug-ins on the side for cell phone and other USB charging requirements. The kits also come with many outlet converter types, and sometimes a traveling case. Whenever I travel I also take one with me for my computer and phone charger. They make variations for Europe, Asia, and possibly other locations, so you have to order the correct unit for you, and you must know the type of outlets and plugs they use in the country you are traveling to. Some of my Bestek units have been powered on 24-hours a day 7-days a week for years. No failures or problems. Great for traveling, throw one in your backpack or travel case. I use these units in my office, bedroom, living room, and kitchen (for US purchased appliances). No problems. I highly recommend them, but do your research first to get the correct unit for you. I only wish they had 4 outlet plugs rather than 3. It is possible they make 4 plug units but I have not seen one yet on Amazon. However, three would be enough for most people.

4 weeks in Malaysia
I am planning on visiting Malaysia for a month. I knew that I would need an adapter to charge multiple items that I will be taking with me. I will be taking standard use items: iPhone, iPad, wireless headphones, rechargeable batteries, GoPro, and so on. In traveling in the past I found that I needed to charge multiple devices at once, traveling in the states I carry a multiple USB charging adapter. Since outlets are not always close to where you want to use the device I like the idea of a multi plug outlet as well as multiple USB outlets for charging with an extension cord built in. The device arrived quickly through Prime and was well packaged. The device is a three outlet power strip with 4 USB outlets on the side. Two USB outlets are labeled at 2.4 amps and two at 1 amp. Especially with larger devices like iPads, the 2.4 amp outlets should increase the speed at which they charge. The end power cord ends in a two prong plug in made for what looks like Europe. Included are three additional outlets for US and other world standards. The power cord plugs and unplugs into the main power strip unit. For a device that would sit under my desk for months or years this would be unnecessary. As a device that will be packed and unpacked on a regular basis I appreciate that the cord unplugs for packing and eliminates trying to put extreme bends in the cable where it connects to the device. I have been using the power strip at home before my trip and give initial observations. After the trip I will provide feedback on use internationally. Upon unpacking the unit feels solid and well made. Connecting the US two prong adapter was a simple process of pushing the adapter over the two prongs on the cord. Witht he device plugged in and sitting on a side table I noticed that it is solid and did not slide on the rubber feet on the base of the unit. There is a switch to turn the unit on and off. A few seconds after turning the unit on there was a slight hum, kind of like the fan in a computer tower. I am not a fan of extra noise, especially from a device that may be on all night while I am trying to sleep in a new place. I assume that it is needed for the circuitry since this will act as a transformer for potentially 240 volts in some countries for three outlets and 4 USB outlets. I have been using the charger in the living room in the evening while watching TV to charge my iPad, iPhone and other devices at times. So far it has been consistent in charging my devices with no faults or issues. Other than the low hum, it has been very nice having four USB charging outlets as I use my computer, pads and phone in the evening. The overall package is a little bit larger than I would normally like to include in my normal kit, although acceptable if I can consistently charge all of my devices internationally while I travel. I plan on packing it in my checked baggage and carry a smaller adapter in my carry on. Pro's Multiple outlets Multiple USB outlets Extension cord Outlets snug Solidl build Cons Larger than I usually travel with Has a fan like hum when on

NOISY FAN (replaced under warranty) but note that the output receptacles are not grounded!
This is my second purchase of one of these adapters. I felt like it was important to have a backup to the wall mounted unit I purchased two years ago which has, and continues to, work fine. This one is a "desktop version" as it has the advantage of connecting it to the wall receptacle via a cord. The weird thing is that this unit's output has grounded plugs on it but the input connection to the wall receptacle only has two conductors, so no ground. Obviously the 3 prong 120 VAC receptacles are only 2 conductors which is a safety hazard and why I am only giving it 3 starts, but it does accurately convert the UK 240VAC 50 Hz to 120VAC/ 60 Hz. So BEWARE, the output receptacles are ungrounded! Edit: After 3 weeks of use the fan in this unit had developed a squealing sound. I contacted the seller and they are sending me a free warranty replacement... so two thumbs up for their backing up the products they sell!

compact power converter with adaptor plugs works great
I just took this Bestek on a trip to England and Scotland and it worked perfectly. It has multiple plug adaptors and a detachable power cord. It has 3 regular US power plug spaces and 4 USB ports, so I could easily charge phone, fitbit, and iPad all at the same time. In fact, my phone and Fitbit seemed to charge faster on this Bestek than when not using anything extra at home. Everything fits into a little brown fabric pouch I just threw into my suitcase. I did not take a hair dryer because most hotels provide dryers so I did not rank that feature. I also like the little light that comes on when the Bestek is turned on. There is a little hum when it is running that did not bother me. Overall very pleased.

Perfect Voltage Converter for Light Overseas Usage
First time overseas for work and I asked my co-workers who have been on previous assignments, what they use. BESTEK was the most common 'go-to'. Before my order was delivered someone else's either took a voltage spike from the outlet (EU's 220V), or there was a internal malfunction. Ready to be thrown out, I asked if I could disassemble to see where/what was the point of failure. Once apart, the component on the circuit board that looked like it caught on fire (a 'capacitor/voltage regulator' closest resemblance I could find online) was obviously the cause of this converters demise. The unexpected surprise: the guage size of the wires coming from the 'power input' into the circuit board, and from the board, 'daisy chained' to the outlet ports on the face of this BESTEK. The wires carrying the prime voltage were the size that powered my RC Car from when I was a kid. Knowing what's inside powering my devices, I am cautious with what/how much draw the device takes when I plug it into my BESTEK. For $35, you get what you pay for. It works perfectly/as intended and non of my devices are waning, or not getting sufficient power to charge/operate. As a precaution, I invested in: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CJC8LPDH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 It wont get here for ~2 weeks. Id rather pay a little extra now, than see my Thinkpad or any of my other devices get varying power delivery if I try to 'pull' from all three outlets. If you don't think about the grade of its internals. BESTEK is a good buy for your buck.

Took care of our electronics with no problems. Does'nt work with straight irons, nor hair dryers.
This was my second attempt at a converter. The first one was the Rockstone Power 500 Watt Heavy Duty Step Up/Step Down converter. My wife took one look at it, and said "You've GOT TO BE KIDDING". Its bigger, and heavier than this converter, but it probably would have handled her straight iron, while this one didn't. But, this one is lighter, and converts 220 or 240 50 Hz power to 110 60 Hz power, and the other one's output frequency will be the same as its input frequency, so the 110 60Hz appliances will draw more power at 110 50 Hz, and the 220 50Hz appliances will draw less power at 60 Hz. I tried it out for the first time at our first hotel in Paris. We were in the lobby, and my wife needed her phone charged. Before I plugged it in, I said "Well, if the power in this hotel goes out, we'll know why", but it plugged in and turned on with no problems. It has 4 built in USB charging ports, 2 are 2.4 Amp, and two are 1.2 Amp. There was a little piece of metal somewhat blocking one of the higher power ports, but I was able to bend it out of the way. As far as I could tell, all four of the ports work fine. All three 110 V AC outlets worked fine, except with my wife's 35 Watt Straight Iron. I use a timer to make sure our iPhones don't overcharge, and it seemed to keep perfect time when plugged into the converter. I also brought a clock radio with ambient sounds that I use to mask my tinnitus at night. I didn't need the sounds much because the converter makes a soft buzz when its on that perfectly masks the noise in my ears. And, the buzz didn't seem to bother my wife, either. She says my normal masking sounds bother her. I'm giving it four stars because it didn't support my wife's 35 Watt Flat Iron. The sockets all worked for our electronics with no problems, before and after trying the flat iron in each of them, and her flat iron works fine on 110 V 60 Hz wall power. Edit: 22 Sept 2015 I didn't notice the disclaimer about not using the adapter with flat irons and hair dryers when I ordered this. I remember scouring the product information, and if I remember correctly, it said it would work; especially since my wife's flat iron is only 35 Watts. I guess we were lucky, as the iron didn't even power on when we tried it. Not even a light. I'm glad it didn't draw enough current to ruin it, as others have reported. I'm leaving the review at 4 stars because I'm rating it wrt the original product description. As a side note, the hotel blow dryers barely blow any air. I think you'd be better off going to a department or drug store and getting a cheap blow dryer and flat iron that runs on local current.
