does the lever use a spring -loaded return or is it a manual push?

manual no springs, had mine for over 17 years and average 2-3 espressos a day.

We have many customers who come to us for parts such as gaskets or replacement electric coil, for units that were made 20 or more years ago and it is no problem obtaining them, and they are inexpensive and simple to repair on such units. What is a recommended grinder to use?

Their are many higher end grinders available. We can only comment on the la Pavoni range as we know they will grind fine enough for the lever machine. Lower end grinders cannot produce the powdery grind necessary, you will find this out when you pull a shot and the coffee exits to wattery and quickly, this is your indication. Review the ISOMAC (la Pavoni Company) Model MPI grinder or the la Pavoni PA-JRD. These are not sold by Amazon. Answered by European Gift
