Simple to use for 96 year old

Cute, Useless. Says works with Visio but all it did on my mother's Visio is on/off. No volumn or channel controlNo codes to try so tried the learning function. After 40 minutes I gave up. All the lights blink as stated but it never learns any codes. Once tried the learning won't even turn TV on or off any more. Going back.

First, I'm glad I bought this for my 89-year-old mother. I used to get calls almost daily when she'd accidentally push the 'input' button on her TV remote and couldn't figure out how to get back. That said, the instructions for the thing are almost useless, the auto-search function didn't work for her Vizio TV, and the steps for how to set things up don't match the behavior of the remote at all. "Release this button and then when the TV does something release this button." Okaaay. Finally managed to get it trained using the Vizio remote, but that took several tries. Now that it works it does the job. No more problem calls!

It was a little tricky to get set up at first. The second option in the directions is what worked for me. And whoever wrote the directions must not speak English as their native lanquage, so they're not the easiest to follow. It works great now though. I lost my bedroom TV remote a while back. All I ever watch on that TV is on my roku stick, but it was getting old going to the TV to change the volume all the time. So this very basic remote is everything I need. And bonus that it has a little strap so I can hang it off my bedside table.

Perfect for grandma! Only has the buttons they need and use most often. Super easy to program to, they could probably do it themselves. Seems durable as well. Has a nice loop at the end of the remote which is perfect for my grandma as she just hooks it up on the end of her night stand. Great buy, nice and simple.

I bought this remote to run the volume & power of a Funai TV. The TV is on our patio and I wanted a water-resistent remote for it. I don't need it to change channels (the TV is piggy-backing via HDMI to another television). First I tried using the auto-search...nothing. Then I tried the Fast Search...not so fast. I was click the Channel+ key for forever. No luck. Eventually, I spent a good hour+ trying to get it to learn the codes from another remote because the instructions are terrible.Here's how I finally (kinda) got it programmed:1. Press & hold the A button and then push the Volume+ button until the light comes on, then you can let go.2. Place the original remote 3-5cm from this remote.3. Decide which button you want to program (volume up, volume down, channel up, power, etc).4. Push that button & KEEP HOLDING IT on the original remote.5. The light will blink on this remote...KEEP HOLDING the button on the original remote6. Press the button on this remote that matches the one you're holding down on the original until the light stops blinking. ***It stops blinking fast so pay attention***7. Continue programming each button in the same way.8. Once you're done programming, press & hold the MUTE button on this remote and then the Volume - button. 9. That should do it. <facepalm>I only needed 3 buttons on here. No matter how many times I try...I can only get 2 to program. It's either the Volume + and the Power or Volume + and Volume - or...well you get the idea. I finally settled for both volume buttons since the power button can be used on the TV itself.I love the size of this remote & the simplicity of it but I cannot recommend it. The instructions are awful and incomplete. If you don't have an original remote for the device, you're stuck with the "search" programming which was ineffective in my experience.

Not really what I expected but, it worked (for a bit) for what needed.. it quit working and I wanted to return it but, it was no longer ellegible for return. I replaced it with one from Walmart..it had many more functions and for a third of the price.. I’m much happier with my replacement.

Purchased this for loved one that has dementia. To many buttons.
