Not perfect but for the price, a very very good headlamp!
I admit it, I love flashlights and have since I was a boy. I am always hunting for the perfect light for the task at hand. As headlamps go this one is not perfect but it is good. For the price, it is very very good. The head strap is comfortable and not too heavy. The single white LED is very bright and has a good narrow focus. You can use it up close as a work light or to walk in the dark or you can lift your head to illuminate something 75ft away. If it was not dimmable it might be too bright. The dimming feature is continuous in that you hold the dimming button down and the light slowly dims until it is only as bright as you need. The circuitry needs a little work as there is some flicker as you dim it. The work around is easy, stop the dimming process at a point where it is not flickering. I really like having 2 strong red LEDs. They throw plenty of light while avoiding night blindness, perfect for camping or other evening gatherings where you don't want to be the rude dude. The automatic on/off feature was cool at first but not as practical or functional in use as in theory. It turned on/off when anything came near the sensor, like someone else. Surprise, bright light in your eyes! That wasn't a problem however because after two weeks and for no apparent reason the sensor stopped working. I'll update this after I find out how good the warranty service is. I still use the light often for it's other features. It is my "go to" head lamp for daily use and I have many. For the price, even without the on/off sensor this is a very very good headlamp. **** Update **** The company promptly responded to my warranty claim and sent me a replacement along with an extra set of batteries for my trouble. They also sent me some troubleshooting tips I did not see in the instructions which included how to reboot the headlamp. Yes, now even headlamps can be rebooted and of course that fixed the problem. So if you have a digitally controlled light and not all the functions are working you might try holding down the power button until it cycles through all it's settings. I now rate this 4.5 stars

Ok light if not intended for camping due to dimmer issues and half-baked IR
Seemed like a good idea- to use this for camping without fumbling with switches- on paper, that is. The reality of this lamp is somewhat different.Firstly, the IR switch only works with white LEDs but NOT red ones. I often use red light at night when camping- it's less intrusive and blinding, yet sufficient to find your way around, cook meals, etc. So effectively I can't even use IR functionality if I just want to use red light. Furthermore, the IR switch reacts to movement as far as 25-30cm (vs. advertised short 10cm range), which will likely cause "interference" with other objects and people and unintended off-on as a result. I have yet to test it in the "field" so to speakSecondly, the dimmer while a great idea (actual dimmer, not just two or three presets) is poorly designed with several issues-every time it's engaged, it'll start at the highest setting instead of simply continuing from whatever the current setting is (in other words you can't adjust it from low to even lower setting without first cycling through the highest setting). Perhaps not a big deal for most, but intrusive and blinding especially when camping. What's worse is that when you cycle the light (Off-On), since the last dimmer setting is NOT remembered, it'll turn to the highest setting. Again- intrusive and blinding.German engineering ? I think notOtherwise, the build quality seems decent and the light will probably work fine without IR sensor for most. I can't comment on how durable it is since I haven't put it through paces yet.

and it seems fine! Also
Just got this, mainly for country walks with my dog. Just used it tonight, and it seems fine! Also, I will use it for dealing with those pesky wires behind my desk, and under the bed. For hikes and camping, too. It has a lot of features that I really like - dimmer, red night light, and movement sensor setting for on and off. The only surprise for me is that it is a bit balkier than I had anticipated. It is heavier, too, yet so far comfortable.

Light beam is too narrow.
The light performs well. The reason I gave 3 stars is because the spread isn't very good. The light is all focused in one small area and as a result, it is too bright in that one spot, and not bright enough anywhere else. It works great for things more than 20 feet away, but not so much for closer things.

Great headlamp!
Much more comfortable than I expected. Typically elastic bands like this irritate me after wearing them for any extended period of time but not this one. The adjustable angle of the light makes all the difference so I don't have to crane my neck like an idiot to direct the light where I need it. The IR on/off sensor works to about 10" out and that's just about perfect. I'm not constantly turning it on and off because I'm moving around.

Something that I have to hide from my boy scouts
Headlamps are a camping have-to. Wow - this has a surprising amount of lumens AND it's dimmable. (The dimming aspect sold me and I love it) My headlamps have to have a red light too and this one fits the bill. I wish it was a little lighter, but I like the lumen trade-off.

Gleich nochmal bestellt
