How to Start a Pet Photography Business

Look, I have a problem with being cheated and that's exactly how I feel right now after opening this book. I purchased this because of all the glowing reviews but boy am I sorry I did. The book is printed in a giant font with double spacing, which means the 200+ pages are actually more like 80 pages of normal printing. The black and white photos are horrible. And the contents? All generalizations and crap you can find on any Google search. Boy, am I pissed. I REALLY don't like to be misled like this. I am sure many of those glowing reviews came from friends and family.

This is a fairly small book divided into two sections. One part has nice pet portraits made by the author, each photo includes the settings used for each photo. There are a few tips on photo angles and working with animal but it is not a how-to book.The second section includes information necessary to start a business such as how to set up a company, including organization and business plan. It talks about defining the market, setting the price, creating a financial plan, as well as the key elements that go into a creating a product description. The book includes a chapter on marketing the business - different methods of advertising as well as networking with related businesses. The information is pretty general but it gives you an idea of is involved.Ali Julia review

Enjoy your animals and their owners. This book is a good combination of pets and photography all wrapped up into an enjoyable business experience. If you ever consider pet photography as a business, read this book.

I am very impressed with this Kindle book about pet photography. The book is very well written and contains illustrations (photos) that go along with the tutorials. A great read and wonderful resource to have.

I'm a pet photographer. While the ideas are just basic, the photos are mere snapshots that could be taken by any beginner with a phone.

Just what my wife need to start his business idea.

It pains me to write this review as I had such high hopes :( A friend of mine has a passion for pet photography and I suggested she do this for a business. When I saw this book on Amazon I got very excited and bought it for a wee Christmas gift. Now I am embarrassed to give it to her. This is clearly self published and this is what gives the self publishing industry a bad wrap. I was STUNNED to see such bad quality and boring images in black and white on normal book paper. It just doesn't work. Then there is the formatting of the book. Appalling. There may well be some good info in it but the look and feel is really off putting. People underestimate the importance of the need for a book to be pleasing to the eye for it to be believable. Honestly I feel bad writing this because I am not a negative person but I felt an honest review should be available. Not sure if the inside of the book is available to view online but it should be. I loved the book cover and it made me feel so confident that the content would be good I didn't look.

This book was a waste of my money. Was HIGHLY disappointed. It is obvious it was written in a word document with double spacing. Might be useful for anyone who doesn't know a thing about business or the business world. It is suitable for a young adult starting out. I have learned nothing from this and I could do a better job in writing something more interesting.Photographs shockingly in black and white with very poor quality! Not inspiring or motivating at all.Could get better information and advise from my local tax consultant!Not written for the expert or semi-expert photographer. Lovely and catching cover ... the only interesting thing about the book.

A good photography business book. not much about PET photography and more about BUSINESS, so, buyers' beware, there are only a few tidbits about pets and photography. Refreshing business sense after reading many photography books whose clueless artsy-fartsy authors couldn't find a profit margin with a headlamp on and yet promulgate their biased, flawed, counter-productive "advice". If you are familiar with the business side of photography then it may not be so useful...maybe if i had spent money on it, i would change my tune, but i read it for free and did enjoy it.

Excellent book, as a novice to pet photography this book is a god send, highly recommended.
