Outstanding!
I recently picked up an iPad Air after much deliberation; did I need it, would it be useful, was it just a "fad"? The usual self-doubting questions. Once I received it I fell in love with the thing, it's awesome. So, I wanted to keep it as new-looking as possible and protect it from the daily bumps and bruises. I read reviews on armored cases, keyboard cases, smart cases, and soft cases/sleeves until I was ready to scream. Then I realized I wanted top quality, real leather, sleek and minimalist design to keep the whole idea of having a 7mm thick device. I took a well-researched chance on this case. Needless to say it's incredible! Top quality leather, tight fitting with the Velcro flap to prevent it from sliding out of the case, beautiful craftsmanship with great top-stitching, and a tight fitting cover that puts my iPad to sleep and wakes it up upon opening. The cutouts for the speakers, charging port, and microphone are slightly off (and hardly noticeable), but that does not warrant me dropping from five stars. I am so happy with this case it's hard to describe. The cover folds behind the device perfectly for portrait viewing, and in landscape the multiple adjustments for viewing work great for all occasions. I now have a perfect system between the Air and Case; I will definitely look to KAVAJ for any case I need in the future, and Amazon was fantastic as usual. I'm a happy guy.

Scratches
Quite disappointed to find scratches in the leather when unpacking. I am using a kavaj cover for 11/2 year with my iPhone; it as less scratches than this new unused one . Of course, this is a detail ,but some care by those handling the packaging could avoid this. Besides this, and ,based on my iPhone experience, the Kavaj covers are wonderful : very classy look and the thin leather adds very little to the iPhone volume in one's pocket.

Really nice, good looking cover
Overall, I am very satisfied with the cover! It looks fantastic, professional with a bit of a flare, and the magnetic cover works well without being too tight. I give it 4/5 stars and not 5/5 for 2 reasons: 1. The fit is good but could be a little better. All of the ports show but they don't line up as nicely as I would have liked. 2. The texture is a bit rougher than I would have expected. I would have appreciated a little more supple leather. Other than these, I am very satisfied and would recommend this case to anyone.

Exquisite case!
I have spent hours looking for a case to replace a very overpriced monster that I ended up buying over a year ago because I couldn't find anything that I truly liked. Back then I ended up settling for protection (and there is nothing I detest more than having to settle). That old tank of a cover did what it was supposed to do, but it was so hideous and with time, it became uglier, heavier and gave my display a rainbow effect that would have driven Steve Jobs into a fit of uncontrollable rage were he still alive, but I digress. As I was saying, I spent days looking for something that I could love, even if it were only just a little. The more I looked, the more frustrated I became. Sound familiar? Eventually I came across this case. 'Hmm, genuine leather,' I thought to myself, 'yeah right.' Nevertheless, I read the reviews on Amazon, watched some YouTube reviews, and ultimately pulled the trigger on the Hamburg in the cognac. Well folks, I received it yesterday. The color, fit and quality are gorgeous, the smell of the leather so pleasant, the workmanship exquisite, the cutouts where they should be. The volume up and down buttons worked straight out of the box. Like others have mentioned I initially had trouble turning the device on and off. I was prepared for this. I checked out the company's video on how to massage the leather to make it a bit more pliable. I installed and uninstalled the case about three times. It just wasn't cooperating, but In my quest for the perfect cover, I had learned to be patient. I decided to leave it overnight and deal with the issue in the morning. First thing today, I prepared to do battle. I started with a small press of the button and much to my surprise, I immediately heard the characteristic click of the device turning off. Eureka. Was this a fluke? I pressed again gently, the device turned on. Wow problem resolved. One final observation: When I initially installed the cover it appeared not to close very well. I thought for a minute that there were no magnets. When I took ithe iPad out to massage the on/off button, I realized that the magnets were there and fully operational, so I just started working the leather a bit, stretching it and gently pressing it down into position. It wasn't long before I had a snug fit with a perfectly operating cover. My advice to you is this. Read the positive reviews because many include valuable tips. Forget the guy who ended up doing surgery on the power button. What on earth was he thinking? Sheesh! Be patient and you will enjoy this case for many years I'm sure. I will be giving these as gifts for Christmas to the very special people in my life. The only bad thing about the case is that it makes me want the matching iPhone 6 cover. That'll be my gift to myself the holiday season. Great job Kavaj. Continue making these amazing products and you will have a loyal family of users for life!

Falling apart after 6 months :(
First off, it smells awesome. Definitely real leather. My iPad is very secure in it. Looks great. Update: I've had it for about 2 months at this point. The stitching is unraveling in a couple places and I had to repair. the only real annoyance is that one of the strips on the screen cover was missed by the sewing machine in production and will probably fall off at some point. Repairing this part is beyond my capability unfortunately. Update 2: I've had the case for around six months now and it is falling apart. The leather has split and separated from the plastic frame of the case that holds the screen. the adhesive that attaches the leather to the frame is sticky still and beginning to leak. Will probably have to trash the case soon. I'm disappointed that for the price this didn't last longer.

Color needs to be changed from cognac to something more accurate.
Item was described as a cognac color. Instead item had An oranger tint. I think the item is very functional with good craftsmanship. The word, cognac, implies more of a maroon color. The picture is accurate.

On/off switch wouldn't operate without surgery.
Would be perfect if the space for the on/off switch had been in the right place. I ended up needing to mangle it to get the switch to operate. Funny, the volume switches were fine. Pity. Otherwise a beautiful product. On the other hand, wish they didn't feel the need to emboss their name on the front.

Hallo liebe Amazongemeinde. So spart man zusätzlich.

I've had this for a couple of weeks now and these are my thoughts. Pros ------ Its beautiful - it looks fabulous. I have had a lot of positive comments from other people about it. Smells great (like leather - cos it's leather!) It's slim and sleek - doesn't add a lot of weight. Fits well - no gaps, not too tight, not too loose. I can't see the iPad fallign out of it ever. The multi-position stand works well - even on the train when its on my lap and I love the fact it has a typing stand setting as well. I've had no issue with the leather not bending properly. Cons ------- It scratches easily - but then its leather and leather does scratch. This is a natural product and has an organic look to it. It will probably stains if you keep getting it wet. It's not a heavy duty cover - so if you drop your device on a hard surface then it will prevent scratches (although two of the corners are not fully covered) but its not going to prevent denting - depending on how high the drop is. To quality that last statement - if you're the sort of person that regularly drops your iPad then this isn't for you. Its not to say it won't protect your device, it will but itds not thick leather. Of course the converse of that is in the Pros section - its slim and light. For me its a perfect cover: stylish, light and has all the mutli-angle angles covered. Love it and would buy another one if I ever needed to.

I was slightly hesitant spending so much on a case for my brand new iPad Air, but with such a lovely new device I wanted something that would be practical, but complement it perfectly. The Kavaj cases all look fantastic with plus and minus points regarding functionality, but this is the only one that provided the main functionality that I desired. The item is easy to fit and use. Great Points ======== * The case exudes quality, with the lovely finish and feel of genuine leather. * All edges of the iPad Air are properly protected, without needing large cutouts or unnecessary bulkiness. * The various viewing positions are perfectly designed for viewing, using or typing on your iPad in landscape orientation (which is how I use mine over 95% of the time). * Even before the new leather has had time to adjust to use, the cutouts line up well enough to not present any usage problems (and I feel sure they will be perfectly aligned once the leather is fully bedded in and so far I have not spent any time working the leather except for the rear flap which I found easy to get working correctly). * The case is light and so superbly designed and made that it not only shows of the iPad Air in the best possible way, it facilitates the best possible usage for the majority of users and is much better than the Apple products (as well as better value). * Although I can understand so users preferring to buy the "Berlin" or "London" models, the easy to use viewing/using positions provided by the "Hamburg" model are exactly what I wanted and I am very glad that I chose it. Drawbacks ======= * If you think you might drop your iPad Air a lot of times (!), then possibly you might wish to invest in a bulkier armoured case (I have no idea who by though!). I personally never dropped my previous iPad 3 (aka "the new iPad") in two years of use and I have a 15 inch neoprene netbook cover (that I bought in the pound shop), which I slip my iPad into (with KAVAJ case fitted) for extra protection in the zipped pocket of my backpack which is where I keep it when not using it. * If you are likely to want to use your iPad Air a lot in Portrait mode, you may consider one of the 360 degree rotation type cases more appropriate for your use. I rarely type much on my iPad at the moment, even though I have several bluetooth keyboards that I can use with it, but even this KAVAJ case allows the iPad to be placed vertically in Portrait mode by angling the cover out behind it, should you wish to have a vertical page display when typing long documents with a bluetooth keyboard (you would need a extra stand should you wish to use it in portrait mode at an angle though). * If (like me) you do not like using stick on screen protectors (I never fitted one to my previous iPad and did not scratch it in two years of use), you might like to check that the flap does not have debris on it and brush it off before closing it (particularly if you are sat on a sandy beach!). This is without doubt the very best case that I have ever bought for any device that I have owned and I have no hesitation in strongly recommending it to the vast majority of owners of an iPad Air. I have the black leather one with the "space grey" iPad Air which match perfectly.
