I have not read this yet, but am very excited to read it. The book came with a note saying to contact if there are any problems. No problems from me, but they seem to be happy to help if any issues arise! Book is in good quality

The Best Version of The Mortification of Sin
Before reading this book, I was totally unfamiliar with John Owen. After reading this book, I am totally disappointed that someone did not introduce me to him earlier. This version reads really well, but what makes it worth while is the introduction by J.I. Packer. When purchasing this book, I struggled with which one to get and this was suggested by a friend. Several others in the residency program I am in picked up different versions and I truly feel that this was the best. If this book is not in your collection, then stop reading this review and purchase it.

rich language and spot on teaching
Valid points and deep reflection are standard in this piece, my first experience with Owen's writings . I will now most likely be reading others. It is true however if you are already grounded in exchanged life and new man teachings that the text is longwinded to get to a singular point. It is a reaffirming outline of specific evidinces and steps of remedy to flawed human efforts at dealing with sin verses the work of the Spirit.

Excellent
In his classic work, The Mortification of Sin, Puritan John Owen stipulates and demonstrates that one of the fundamental duties of a Christian is to fight and win the battle over our own sin. This is an important step in sanctification. For most of the book, he explains and exposes the consequences of letting sin fester and attempting to mortify it in our own strength. However, in the final chapter, Owen presents the solution in the believer’s battle which is to employ the help of the Holy Spirit. It is only through His assistance that we can accomplish this essential task. This edition of The Mortification of Sin is not long but must be read slowly and carefully to grasp the implications of Owen’s arguments. The Old English may be a barrier to understanding the weight of reasoning. It is not an easy read, but a necessary one if the Christian wants to progress in sanctification. Owen is a prolific author who deserves our attention because of his deep knowledge of theology and how it should affect the way believers live. The Mortification of Sin should be in every Christian’s library for there is much to glean from this compact volume.

Water damage
I haven’t read the book yet, but I will say that it was delivered with water damage to it. I was not very happy about that.

Great intro, classic on the flip side of sanctification
This edition has a gem of an introduction by J.I. Packer that is arguably worth the price of the book. Owen is not easy reading for moderns, but once one settles in, it is rich. We often skip the process of mortification - putting to death the "deeds of the flesh". This book reminds us how important this is as a prerequisite to holy living. The last section (how-tos) seems thin after most of the book, but this is a minor quibble. Highly recommended!

Excellent helpful positive book
This is one of the most positive and practically helpful books I have read. It looks in honest detail at how people behave and points out the small simple practical daily things we can watch out for and change. Surprisingly easy to read for an 'old' writer, and bang up to date as human nature doesn't change. The writer is clearly writing from his own life-experience and from his living daily relationship with his God, not merely theorising. Hie doesn't start with theorising but the other way round:-: his theological exposition comes from looking honestly at his own behaviour in the light of biblical teaching.

A Treasure from the Puritan Era
I found it to be a very great blessing and instructive on the serious issue of devolopment of the christian life through a biblical understanding of indwelling sin and the means of grace given to deal with this matter.
