Fantastic purchase
Have purchased numerous pairs of these shorts subsequently as the material is extremely robust and strong but remains very comfortable also.My only complaint would be the colour of the shorts which has deteriorated after some washes but otherwise a great purchase.

Sturdy, comfortable, shorts. You don't have to play rugby to wear them.
They're shorts. Well made, not so short that your genitals are on display to the world. Heavyweight cotton drill, and they have pockets- god knows why, I've never needed pockets when I did play rugby, but I bought them post knee operation, so they did what was necessary

Comfortable, well-made shorts
This is my second pair of Canterbury shorts although they are a slightly different style to the other pair. They fit me pretty well (5'9 about 100kg/220lb amateur powerlifter). Material and stitching feel really sturdy and well-made. Deep pockets are really handy. The only negative is there is no stretch in the fabric, which means they are no good for deep squats. To be fair, these aren't marketed as a general workout short, so if you buy them for that purpose I would only wear them to train on a day where I'm not doing squats.

Blue Canterbury shorts
The Canterbury shorts are minted. Great quality material, I've washed them many times and they still look new. No colour change/ fading or shrinkage. The cotton is rugged and cool ( temperature cool)I hate shorts that touch my knees ( I grew up in the '70s when shorts were short) These have a short inside leg so they don't flap about like a sail when walking or running and they don't chafe - very comfortable.I suspect I'll still be wearing these for another twenty years, if I last that long. I love clothes that become old friends- These will do me fine.

Great shorts for general wear.
I bought these because I am utterly fed up with the obsession clothing store have with only selling 'long' shorts, i.e. ones that come down to your knees. If I wear a pair of shorts it's because I want the air and sun to get to my legs, so what is the point of shorts that don't actually allow that? The only short shorts you seem to be able to buy are swimming shorts and they're a bit thin for general use. These shorts are great and allow my knees and lower thighs access to fresh air and sunlight. The pockets are deep enough to comfortably hold my wallet, keys etc. The material looks like a decent strength cotton and there's a drawstring if you need it. I usually take XL and ordered that on the basis that there was a drawstring in case it was too big, but they fit perfectly without using it.

Good rugby shorts.
Very comfortable, & sturdy.

Old school
These are 'old school' style shorts typically found maybe 10-15 years ago. Heavy duty material, not the lightweight usually found with team kits these days. Good quality none the less.

Would give 6 stars if possible
I am a pot bellied man on the borderline between middle aged and elderly. I don't play rugby but I do dress according to the calendar, not the weather. I have 2 pairs of these shorts, one of which I bought in 2021, the other in 2023. I wear them every day between April 1 and October 31.The 2021 pair did sterling service on their own for 2 years, but since the 2023 pair arrived I've been rotating them week on, week off. The 2021 pair has a couple of holes in it now (2026) because of my habit of carrying a short, double ended pencil in the right hand pocket so I'm here to buy another 2 pairs so that each pair only has to do one week per month in the season: 7 weeks per year instead of 14, or the 56 weeks which my most worn pair did in its first 2 years. These are not cheap shorts, but they are comfy and properly short, and more hard wearing than you have any right to expect. The pockets are perfect. You don't notice the stuff that's in them. I once spent a week searching for my pencil, only to find it in my shorts pocket on laundry day.I confidently expect that, with 3 stablemates, my 2021 shorts will last me the rest of my life. I just need to remember to keep the pencil in the left hand pocket henceforth.(I'm 34" and a bit over waist. Plenty of room in a medium.)
