Laguiole knives by Chevalier Laguiole Elegance in perfect craftsmanship. A CHEVALIER LAGUIOLE captivates the heart of any Laguiole knife collector with its many aspects that appeal to the eye of the beholder. This noble symphony of wood and metal - or its superb style when it is completely made from metal (high-gloss aluminium) - gives these knives an aura one can hardly escape. The engraving continues throughout the top of the spine and ends in the traditional Laguiole fly at whose head the half engraved blade made from high quality 12C27 steel embraces. Models made from wood have handle scales which are inlayed with the symbol of the traditional shepherd’s cross. Throughout history, the owner of a Laguiole knife used the knife cross to stick into the ground and the pray in front of the cross. * Handle made of black horn * Length of closed knife: 12 cm * High-grade 12C27 steel * Bee and spring forged from a single piece * Decoratively forged spine * Double plates approx. 2 cm wide Grip plates made from horn Horn has a naturally strong grain with grey and/or brown veins. Horn belongs to the classic and original materials used in knife handles. It is a natural and renewable raw material. These days, however, breeding of hornless cattle is more common and horn is therefore becoming scarcer. The handles are polished by hand and therefore repel dirt quite well. However, horn stands rather poorly against humidity and should therefore be thoroughly dried after each cleaning. Similar to wood, horn can withstand alterations in temperature and humidity. Knife handle can differ from illustrations The variation in grain, natural growth and markings left by animals or weathering gives each handle a unique quality. Therefore, the images of our products serve as visual examples; the actual knife you receive may vary slightly in appearance.
