Will this fit on a 5/8” hose or does it require a wand?

All garden hoses, 1/2" 5/8" 3/4", use the SAME female and male ends. They are a standard size so that Dramm nozzle will fit on your hose.

Are the threads Brass?

The threads are the same material as the nozzle housing. I am assuming die cast aluminum but not 100% sure. I have been using Dramm nozzles since the early 70's when I worked for a greenhouse. A little more expensive but last forever.

Is there a difference between this one and the one that cost $17 and looks just like this one?

It appears that it is lighter weight than the Dramm Original 400 Water Breaker Nozzle ($17.47) that I assume you are asking about. Less robust and durable probably goes with the lighter weight. Other than that, it appears to have essentially the same specifications (400 holes). Being that we were testing the Dramm nozzles to see if they fit out application (testing from leaks of the exterior of a building), we chose to go with the less expensive one. We are quite happy with the results that we have gotten from this unit.
