Pokémon: Indigo League - Season One, Part 1

Kanto in a Bright, Cheerful Box Set
Disclaimer: This review contains potential spoilers.I wasn't sure what I would feel re-watching these early Kanto episodes - would they still hold the same charm they did so many years ago? Needless to say, the answer is a resounding yes! Fond memories of watching the show on the WB came flowing back as I re-experienced Ash befriend and partner with his first few Kanto team... Feeling the same sadness again watching Ash say goodbye to Butterfree... Getting excited for each Gym-related episode (which were always enlightening because in this season Gym Leaders were a bit more unconventional in awarding badges)... The bonds of friendship Ash and friends forge along the way. I loved reliving every moment of this childhood favorite and decided to order the other two box sets too. However, expect a no-frills approach to the box set itself. There are no unique paper inserts and no bonus features on the DVDs themselves. The box that houses the DVDs is not crafted from the strongest material and is prone to wear and tear, albeit it features very nice, colorful artwork. Hopefully, one day PUSA will release a premium set of this iconic series with more bells and whistles. However, for such an impressive collection of episodes, this box set was definitely worth the price I paid on Amazon. I highly recommend this set as a gift for fans of the series or as a way to introduce the series to newcomers.

Gotta' Catch'em ALL!!!!
Just so everyone is clear, because I was confused at first myself, This is part one of SEASON 1. They have taken all of season one, the original series with 150 Pokemon, and broken the DVDs up into three parts. In other words, if you buy part 1, part 2, and part 3 you will have the complete first season of Pokemon. Now that we have that cleared up let me start by saying I'm a 22 year old male, who was in 1st and 2nd grade when Pokemon first came out in America. So I was in the thick of all the hype and can say with confidence, that I am a HUGE Pokemon fan (when it comes to the original 150, I hate any and all new Pokemon after Mewtwo). I would seriously snatch this deal up on the first season DVDs, because Pokemon is still going strong with new episodes airing currently and the more new episodes they put out, the more people tend to forget about the original series. And that goes for most television shows honestly, but I digress, this series is phenomenal and I was thrilled when I got my Parts 1-3. My girlfriend and I watched the entire series in a week lol. So whether you are a young parent looking for a good show for your kids, or you're a nostalgic nerd who won't ever fully grow up like me, these DVDs are well worth the price and they will take you back to a simpler time, when Saturday morning cartoons were all that mattered :)

Great Collection!
This DVD collection is perfect. Their are three disks for the first part of the box sets (three sets in total), each disk is in its own standard DVD case within the box. When you play the disk you get a basic menu (pretty picture and shiny stars) and an option to play all or select a certain episode (which is to be expected for a DVD set). The PokeRap is part of the set and the video quality is very good for this old of a show. It is not HD or widescreen, but it looks very good playing on my Blu Ray player, I do have the fullscreen bars, but if you know your tv setup you can easily stretch the picture (I do not mind the bars). In all I like this set and am enjoying the series. I can not wait to get the next two sets to complete the Indigo League. Also, the episodes that others have mentioned as missing is missing (Beauty and the Beach). However, you can find that full episode on the internet, in English -- Just FYI.

I love watching this with my kids.
My son became interested in Pokemon so I wanted to show him the first season. I was only able to find season 1 broken up into 3 parts. So technically I have now paid $60 for 1 season of Pokemon. I wish they just had the whole season on 1 set. I went ahead and paid for all 3 parts because I wasn’t able to find it anywhere else. My kids have watched the DVDs multiple times so I guess it’s worth it

Amazon come sempre eccellente, arrivato in 2 giorni

REGION 1!!!I bought them knowing they were in Region 1 but I think it needs to be highlighted that a region free or region 1 DVD play is needed to what these! They are great to have, spent many a childhood Saturday morning getting up and watching Pokemon on CITV.... Great to finally have on DVD
