A really good fitness tracker!
The Polar Ignite does a lot more than I expected. It is more than a FitBit, less than an Apple Watch which is right where I wanted it to be. The GPS works really well for bike rides and, surprisingly, lap swimming. I wear it pretty much all the time and end up charging it every other day from around 30% remaining - it does charge very quickly though. I have verified the heart rate with an external SpO2 meter and the numbers agree very well. As for cons, the touch display is a bit laggy but not aggravatingly so. Also, water on the display in the shower will emulate touch events. One change I'd like to see is a night time dimmer mode, or alternatively a small time display on a black background during the "sleep hours" because in the middle of the night it seems very bright. I really like this watch - as an already active person it tracks my activity, sleep and etc. in surprising and insightful ways. It pairs with the Polar website to allow you to plot all your data and see your trends. If you are already active and are looking for a good fitness tracker, this is a good candidate.

Great tracker
Excellent fitness tracker. Had it for three months with no problems. Super bright color display, sturdy construction (i keep bumping it against the corners in my house with no scratches), syncs with polar.com running programs and is super helpful if you're training with heart zones. Heart beat is not as accurate as the H10 chest strap but you can link the two and it will display your H10 readout on your watch while you run. Battery lasts about 1-2 days but that's not a deal breaker for me since I'm in front of the computer all day and the charger is always there in front of me. Previous fitbit 3 owner and love this watch because of the way it syncs with polar running programs and has a ton of features.

Polar is nothing but problems and frustrations
I had this watch for 5 hours and I charged it fully. It said 100% charged then screen went blank three times and nothing would work. Had to update three times. Each time it failed and never completed. Synced three times. Each time i did it failed and the last time i could never sync it it said no device found/paired when I had paired it 5 minutes ago and confirmed it on both screens. Had to set up my profile three times as well and just got fed up with it. I have had nothing but problems with Polar. The last one I had from 3 years ago had syncing issues but I assumed it was because it was an older model. There is no good reason an expensive brand new watch should be giving me problems on the first day. Sadly I have to send back but I was really excited to use this. I cannot deal with the problems Polar gives me anymore. I'll try a different brand now.

It is a good watch and it will hopefully get better with some updates.
Great heart rate sensor, one of the most accurate ones out there. The sleep analysis is not 100% exact but it is a good approximation for general purposes. The battery life is much shorter than advertised when basic features are activated. The VO2Max estimate in rest is far from accurate but the running index was spot on. You need the Polar Flow app and desktop web app to have access to cardio load report (tolerance, cardio load, etc.) Notifications are rather simple but cover the basic needs. No weather app on the watch. The exercising programs are great in combination with the Polar Flow web app and the watch interface to exercise is great. The watch screen malfunctioned after receiving a couple of raindrops and it needed a hard reset. Overall a great watch with some small issues and a fantastic potential if Polar decides to add some nice features in future updates.

Very accurate
I bought this watch after open heart surgery to keep an eye on my heart rate so as no to overdo it during recovery. In my cardio rehab sessions, I occasionally checked my bpm against the monitor I was attached to, and found that normally they were exactly the same or within 1 beat of each other. Unfortunately, I found, occasionally, that checking my bpm too often (2-3 seconds apart) the readings on my watch read significantly lower than the hospital equipment. Just something to keep in mind while exercising. This watch is loaded with features! I have only had this watch for a couple of months and have only used a fraction of the features. I downloaded the pdf version of the instruction manual. The English version is 91 pages! The instructions are clearly written and nice to have if I’m not sure of something. The only other feature I wish it had is the ability to read blood oxygen saturation. I would highly recommend this amazing watch.

I'm really disappointed with this product
It seems like the Polar Ignite was not designed by a runner! I'm not sure why the default for the screen is to go to sleep after 5 or so seconds when you are exercising.. When I am running I want constant feedback by glancing down at my watch. Now when I glance down, there is nothing but a black screen. It appears that the only way you can bypass this is to lock the screen and turn the back light on. However, you can only do this when AFTER you have started the stopwatch. So if you are timing yourself, you either have to stand still and do this after you have started the timer or try and do it when you are running, which is virtually impossible to do. Is there some kind of work around I am missing??!! Basically you lose about 10 seconds if you are trying to record a time....because you have to fiddle about with the settings. The screen is also way too dark. Can it be adjusted? It does not appear so. The screen is hard to see during the day when you are running. (While you can lock the screen. When you are in running mode, it always defaults to unlocked. You must change it every time you start the timer). The touch screen does not work very well. Sometimes it takes two or three swipes. The design of the watch interface is just not intuitive. I will be returning this product.

3 years later
I've really enjoyed my Polar Ignite over these last 3 years however, about 6 months ago I noticed I was no longer able to access the lap time information, due to the touch screen on that section not responding. No matter how hard I touched the screen, it would never go to the lap time info. Now, it can take several minutes to choose the workout program as the touch screen response is erratic, causing a program to start that you did not choose. It could take a few minutes of swiping!! Also, battery life was suffering. So, this is my final review as I'm going to jump ship on Polar and choose Coros Pace 3.

Good hardware but need work software wise
I've been fitbit for long time and to be honest it's fine for any basic daily usage, however I've seen major improvements generation to generation especially on the activities tracking occuracy and heart rate monitor response. So, with seeing the new Polar ignite, I thought it's time to change. One of the reason for changing was the heart monitor occuracy and response which I have read before that Polar is doing it better and somehow it's better than fitbit. In addition they have improve in the sleep tracking techniques however fitbit is doing it better as they will track any sleep more than 1 hourse while the polar you have to define the window of sleep and will register sleep lasted lesss than 4 hours! Which is so strange as any afternoon sleep will be register. I like the night recharge feature but again if some sleep is not register such feature will not be accurate. For activities tracking, polar is very basic and will register any activities unless you activate the type of sport you are doing while fitbit will automatically detect if you are running or jogging or biking... Battery is fine will last for 4 days almost that include a couple of hours of gps usage. One more thing to mention is the watch I received from amazon was faulty the vibration is not working so I call the polar maintenance center in Dubai and they replaced it right away. Very supportive and customer oriented center.

Don't believe the negative online reviews - this is a PERFECT watch ! (well, nearly perfect !)
Don't believe all the negative reviews, I purchased this after a lot of online research. I'm not a fitness fanatic, and before the Ignite I wasn't even wearing a watch, but wanted something which gave me a nudge / reminder to get up and do some exercise (I lead a sedentary lifestyle, though I am pretty fit - 56yrs, 5'9, 75Kgs, BF16%). I was going to hold off until I could get a Samsung Active 2 with my phone upgrade, but read enough about how inaccurate its HRT monitoring was (as well as its GPS) that I decided I wanted more of a fitness watch than something on my wrist that'd literally double up as a phone (because I've already got my phone for that, right ?). I also didn't want to pay too much for my first fitness watch as I believe this is still quite a moving technology and new/better ones will be coming out all the time. Finally, I was more steered towards Polar because I have had Garmin products before and didn't like their software. Polar have been in the HRT monitor space the longest (as far as I know) and felt if anyone could produce a great fitness watch, they'd be the favourite. So far, I've had it a week and absolutely no complaints ! Well, okay, a few improvements I'd personally like :) 1) The strap is a) too rubbery/grippy, and b) the strap loop keeps sliding down each time you try to put the watch on. a) + b) = A very frustrating experience every time you try to put the watch on, since to slide that loop up once the watch is on your wrist is very difficult to do since the rubber material is too grippy, preventing you doing so without a few blue words during it...... (I’ve since superglued the strap loop permanently in place and so have eliminated the above mentioned frustration). 2) The watch face is switched off until you bring the watch up to your face to look at it. That is fine except that this only works when you're in the upright position (either sitting or standing is fine). Try bringing the watch up to your face when you're lying down or in bed and you’ll find the watch face will not wake up.... it's as though the orientation of the watch is what is important to it, not that you're making a sudden movement with your arm to wake it up. 3) You have a choice of analogue or digital watch faces, one of each. That's fine, but when you choose the analogue face, the face I prefer, then the watch hands obscure the health data and information. If you choose the digital face, no obscuring takes place. It's a shame that Polar didn't design TWO positions for that data, one for the digital version of the watch, and another for the analogue version. Other than that, I'm completely satisfied with my Ignite watch, I've had NONE of the issues I've read in online reviews elsewhere, no issues with it measuring my sleep within the first three nights, no issues with the software, the GPS is accurate (I tried it on a local walk I do every other day) and the data itself is very useful. If you're a fitness fanatic, take your marathons and training very seriously, then you probably want a more sophisticated and accurate device - and for that you’ll need to pay two or three times the price of a Polar Ignite. But for those of us who want a watch mainly for fitness, aren't fanatical about that, and don't want smartphone features, this watch is not only perfect in my view, it is also VERY attractive on the wrist. A great purchase decision !

Polar Ignite ECCEZIONALE
