16“ Folding Wooden Chess Set with Magnetic Handle Chess Game Board Educational Toys for Kids and Adults Easy Storage and Carry

I have bought four different brands of chess boards on Amazon because I play many games at once. All can Highly damaged or misrepresented and damaged. I do not trust Amazon after this and do not think they should be in business much longer. I am selling my amazon stock and investing in companies that are actually honest.The playing pieces might be wood with thick plasticy hardener on it or are just plastic. I think the former. The pieces are not round but oval, like a squished circle. Like they were turned on a lathe using stock that was not round like a dowel but egg shaped tree branch. The bottoms have burrs, the stick on felt inst felt but really thin and wrinkled. so the "felt" can not be put on flat because it is crumpled and the bottom of the chessmen have bumps. The ones without bumps still wobble because the felt is not flat or correctly applied. The felt easily comes off showing problems with the pieces and is not a simple fix like glueing bad one because they are so bad. Total rubbish.The board is veneer on cardboard with a hardwood frame. It is glued on very badly. It is wavy where the gaps are and you can see hideous globs of glue. I feel that this would not last long. The surface is marred and discolored like someone intentionally did it. The hinges are bent and warped. The handles are bad. These are not mistakes that can be ignored. It seems they simply wanted to sell a bad product on purpose. Not up to North American standards.Working with wood is not hard nor expensive so there is no excuse for the pisspoor attitude. Total ripoff. I would feel dumb for keeping it. I do not recommend this or any chess set. There are none left. Every single one has problems.If I wanted to buy a monopoly set I'm sure i could find one for $20 but I doubt that with chess. This set is bad. Even in jail they have better cardboard sets than this! Even in USSR you could play chess but not here. The quality of products on Amazon has really lowered.I wouldn't pay more than $12-$15 for this.

Magnetic closure and folding are great features for this set. Felt lined interior and elastic band restraints are installed very well. Staining looks great in person. Board is crafted well with no misalignments, but slightly rough on some edges. Chess pieces are smooth and intact with felt bottoms. Nothing broken, chipped, nor peeling. Great option for kids who may not always be careful! It does not appear to have a polish or sealant, but that does not detract from its appearance.

I got this chess set for my daughter who is learning to play. The board was of great quality for the money. Unfortunately the board was not 100% flush when opened. Not a huge deal but I contacted the company to ask if they had any suggestions. They immediately sent me a replacement board! Very kind of them! The replacement is perfect for my young, aspirational player. I would highly recommend this product and the company.

Good design however it needed more sanding and a complete wooden finish paint job. I grabbed the chess board by its handle as I was taking it out of the box, and ended up getting a splinter in my finger. The handle looks like it was just cut & left as is (as you can see in the photos). The other slight problem is the magnet closure, it's weak and comes loose at times. Overall the product is decent. Quite a let down unless you don't mind doing the hand work yourself.*REVISED*The seller was consistent with solving my issue with the product. I received a much better replacement & now satisfied with my new chessboard.

I have a real problem with poor craftsmanship. I also don’t feel that nicks on a new set is acceptable. I am returning this set.

It is pretty attractive and nice for my 8 year old to learn to play. Not too fancy but not plastic.

The product is exactly as shown in the pic. I love the wooden finish of the the pieces and board. It will be a great gift too! Would definitely recommend it to my friends!
