Sector 9 Ireland Bamboo 38" Complete Longboard - 5 Ply Bamboo construction - All Original Sector 9 Components

First of all, I just want to let it be known: I AM NOT A PLANT BY THE COMPANY. I just really like this board... :)I used to work in a surf shop and we sold Sector 9s like crazy. They are a perfect example of form, function, and reliability. Because of that, they have become a primary mode of transportation for a lot of people where I live. Why crank up your car to drive 8 blocks? Why walk 15 min to the beach to check the surf or pick up a carton of milk at the store? Just skate there... In my experience, riding a longboard is a great workout, faster than the casual bicycle ride, and (most important of all) it's really fun!Ok. I'm off my soap box. About this particular board:Seriously... Just buy it.I've owned more skateboards than I can count. This is, hands down, my favorite. It's stupid fast and it's made of bamboo. Bamboo has a stronger tensile strength than steel! You can't hurt this board! I've personally witnessed one of these boards being run over by a truck and it just walked (or rolled) it off. There was no damage except for a tire mark. (I don't recommend trying it though ;) )The wheels grip on vertical surfaces, the trucks are super reactive (but not stiff) and the bearings will cruise for hundreds of yards with a couple of good pushes on a nice surface; and let's not overlook that the board itself is beautiful! Whoever came up with this art work did an outstanding job. All my friends are super jealous of it.Overall, this board will last for years with a little upkeep.(Just a little tip: loosen the nuts on the wheels and the truck pivot just the tiny-est bit to get a good carve out of the trucks and a long roll out of the wheels. As they break-in, you can tighten them as you like them.)

So I really wanted to give this board 5/5 stars but given the condition it arrived in (hopefully not normal), I have to dock at least 1.5. The artwork is very stunning, board feels like a strong solid frame, very little if any flex. I haven't gotten to ride it out in the streets yet or have even gone cruising in case I need to return it, so my experience on it is in my 4-car garage and there's only so much I can do in there. It's very responsive to carving, which is awesome. This arrived yesterday evening and I couldn't have been more excited...unfortunately when it came out of the box, my heart sunk a little bit, and I'm hoping someone can help me out or at least explain if this is normal. The board seems to have multiple tiny cracks in the bamboo. None are huge and they're almost hard to see without looking closely, but I can certainly feel them in the surface. I've taken some pictures and a video as well. Are these cracks a problem/part of a defect? I really didn't want to have to swap this one out and wait but if I have to, I will. I've attached some photos below and took a video as well. Also, the damage on the nose of the board seems cosmetic but appears to have happened during the shipping process, as it looks like it was dropped or banged directly onto the point and the package had no additional padding on the knee. Hopefully I'll get a response to this...

Definitely a great board. Oh my high though! With the risers it came with it was a bit unstable only because of how tall it was off the ground so I personally took them out simply because it is a long way down to push off and I use it primarily for commutes. Also, the wheels are slighrly smaller than some prefer for cruisimg but if you kept the risers on you could probably put larger wheels on no problem. Other than that great board!

This board is just amazing! Although the wheels weren't green when I received the board the wheels that come with the board are actually still pretty nice. The bamboo makes this board about 3/4 or less of the weight of a normal longboard making it easier to push and making it easier to go faster than most boards. If you uprgade the bearings from the abec - 5s that it has installed to bones super red bearings you'll definitely fall in love with this board like i have!

I got this board and I love it. No regrets. Could use some better bearing. Only negative is it came in with a small chip in the nose. Otherwise any person who enjoys long boarding should get this board.

could have been a lot better, the board is a bit thicker than other long boards, and for me the trucks had a ear piercing noise when you would turn hard on the board, the wheels where a bit cut rough and could have been better in quality and the bearings where not to good, i had to buy standard bone reds to replace it. it could just be the board i got but the board is pretty un balanced to (as in trouble when kicking), the trucks also could have been better, the only thing i loved about the board was the graphics and grip tape

Trucks were a little bit squeaky upon arrival, I took them apart and put some dishsoap in there and that took care of it.

Excellent quality skateboard. This is the first longboard my son has owned and it was very easy for him to learn to ride it comfortably. The artwork is also beautiful.
