Gas Detector, Natural Gas/LPG/City Coal Gas Leak Detector, 3-Pin Plug-in Gas Monitor with Sound Alarm and LED Display, Methane Propane Butane Combustible Gas Alarm for Kitchen RV Garage Hotel

After realizing that my current battery-powered natural gas detector was broken (it even beeped outside!) I decided to try a plug-in. This product is really simple, just take out of the box and plugin. It takes a minute or two to set up but soon after the clear display was '0' telling me I was safe. Nice and reassuring. The instruction booklet states that the gas will collect around the ceiling, the detector is to be placed 30cm below and 1.5 m from the air (a window). This means it might be hard to find a suitable place if you have a really small room. For myself, I probably need to move mine further from the window but I still feel that this product has helped alleviate my worries about natural gas.

I bought this for my mum’s new holiday caravan as a new boiler had been installed just before she bought the caravan. Four days after she moved in, the gas alarm went off at 3am. Thankfully it woke her up. The fire brigade said she would have been dead had she not bought the alarm. It was reading a gas level of 4 and climbing due to a boiler installation issue. I can’t rate this product enough.

I purchased this alarm for my 81 year old mum who has lost her sense of smell and has a tendency to knock the gas knobs on her cooker. I was a little dubious about this alarm working from having read the reviews, however, I decided to purchase it anyway as previously, by sheer luck, a family member went to visit mum who had gone to sleep not realising she had knocked the gas knob to ‘on’! So far it has worked brilliantly, whether it takes a little while to detect the gas or not. Being elderly, mum does fall asleep but the alarm has woken her when it’s detected gas. I can truly say it’s saved her life as going by last time, the gas had been on for 4hrs and the fire service had to go in with gas masks to open all the windows and doors with mum having to sit outside for 2hrs before they let her go back in. The most important thing is this device works and if it’s a choice between not having one and having one, I’d certainly opt for the latter.

My husband thought he smelled gas, due to long covid I couldn't confirm this. After a day of his concern I bought the alarm, mainly to reassure ourselves. We used an extension lead to be able to place the alarm at the correct height. Within an hour it was beeping and reading 3. We then moved it to nearer the gas meter and it read 9 after only 45 minutes and beeped like a wild thing. We switched off the gas and called the plumber. (the alarm rapidly set itself back to 0 after the gas was turned off and the area ventilated) A test revealed a huge leak at the meter. Now waiting for the gas company to sort that out. The alarm was excellent and I highly recommend one. But do read the instructions and use it as described. Life saving!

When I first moved into my home, I could smell gas now and then when the stove was on. I could also smell it in certain areas of the home throughout the day. My home has a gas boiler and gas stove. My partner tried to assure me it was normal for either appliance to release a gas smell when it was turned on. I couldn't shake the nagging feeling it was more than that. On a Friday, after hours of course I had enough and called someone to take a look. He found 2 leaks, one in a burner on the stove, and another in the connection from the wall to the stove. The gas to the house (not just the stove) had to be shut off altogether. We went without a stove for the weekend but I felt relief knowing I wasn't crazy! I wish I had one of these devices then to let me know there was an issue, instead of living with the gas in the environment for several weeks. This is a very easy detector to use. You just plug it in and check to make sure it's working now and then. It has a clear display that indicate the risk factor, and a loud alarm that warns of danger. Thankfully there aren't any batteries required. It doesn't detect CO2, you'll need a separate device for that. Overall for $30 it's reasonably priced and a great lifesaving tool if you have natural gas in your environment.

I bought this gas detector for my kitchen and I’m very happy with it. The setup was extremely easy—plug-and-play with a standard US plug, no tools or electrician needed. It feels solid and well-built, and the fireproof ABS casing gives me confidence it will last. The LED display is clear and easy to read. When everything is normal, it shows “0,” and if it detects gas, the numbers change to indicate the level. The alarm is loud and the flashing red light makes it obvious when there’s a leak. It’s reassuring to know it detects natural gas, LPG, and city coal gas. I also appreciate the energy-saving design, using less than 2 watts. It’s been running 24/7 without any noticeable increase in my electricity usage. A few important notes: The detector does not detect CO or CO₂, so it’s not a replacement for carbon monoxide alarms. It has a 180-second warm-up time, so don’t expect it to work immediately after plugging it in. Overall, this is a solid, affordable gas monitor that provides excellent safety. I feel much more secure knowing I have an extra layer of protection against gas leaks.

This is an excellent, well designed, gas detector. It can detect multiple combustible gasses, mainly those commonly used today, like Natural Gas (methane), and LPG (Liquified Petroleum propane & butane). Because flammable gasses have different weights, care should be taken to install a gas monitor at a level suitable for each gas. For example, Natural Gas is lighter than air, so the Gas Detector should be placed close to the ceiling. LPG gas is heavier than air, and the Gas Detector should be placed about 1 foot above the floor. This Gas Detector will be installed in a large vacation home which is actually very similar to two large RV’s joined together. The gas used in this vacation home is LPG, which is stored in a large fillable tank outside. This tank feeds both the furnace and the gas stove. In this case, this Gas Detector will be installed about 1 foot above the floor, and approximately equidistant from each gas source. Fortunately, electrical wall outlets are installed at around this level. The D Modun Gas Detector is a plug-in model, and can detect both Natural Gas and LPG (propane). It will provide audible and digital warnings if flammable gas is present, and will increase the level of the warnings if gas concentrations become dangerous. While this is a well designed and effective gas detector, it could be even better if a battery back-up was included.
