Sadly - quality lost since 1998
I have a pair of near identical boots I purchased in 1998 - still in great shape. Bought these new ones because the old have steel toes - making them very cold in the winter. Regardless, old ones made in England, New ones? God knows where.1. Not near the same quality leather: stiff and very obvious hide defects especially in tongue.2. NO sole liner! Just the topside of the PVC or whatever they are using for sole material. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE, so had to buy an insole - which of course, changed the fit from OK to too small (no half sizes any more past Size 12 - and 13 would be way too big).3. Much less flexible and frankly, not very cosmetic sole. Not nearly as slip resistant as my old DMs.If this represents "progress" by DM, I' m off to another boot company.

Want to be complemented on your boots?
As a man, I have honestly never cared much for what other people think of my shoes, as long as they fit well, last a reasonable amount of time and is reasonably priced, then I'm happy. Pretty reasonable I think. These DMs are something else though, they are extremely comfortable in my opinion and look really good - to the extent that I'm getting quite a bit commentary on them, and not only from ladies that notice them but from other guys that ask if they are really DMs and where I got them and what I paid. Now, it needs to be said that these are not steel-tipped or safety boots, they're more 'get some work done' and still look good enough to go to a party afterward kind of boot. I don't think you'll get 10 years of concrete mixing and driving a caterpillar as a work-car kind of use out of them - but there are boots made for that, and they sure don't look as good these. The leather is really good quality and the workmanship on the stitching etc. is top notch - what you would expect from a DM - The soles like all DM wear well but can be a bit slippery in certain situations because of the harder compound used by DM in comparison to the some-what softer soles you get in other workboots that make them more slip-resistant. I was so impressed with these that I bought a second pair and I'm keeping them in their box for when these wear out or become unsalvageable. A good buy for the money in my opinion and looks great, you may even get some compliments.

Not as comfortable as I had hoped
I've owned a lot of Docs over the years and they all pretty much feel the same. Get em broken in and they're comfortable. I was hoping though that their work boots might be a little different. There is some added cushioning in the sole at the heel and balls of the feet, but the smooth insole had my socks sliding all over inside and I had to add some gel insoles to stop it happening. Having to wear work boots all day long every day, comfort is at the top of my list. These were tight around the widest part of my feet (normal width) and the first three days in them were miserable. My feet were killing me at the end of the day. Now that they've stretched a little and are forming to my feet, they are tolerable, but for the price, I think they should be more comfortable. I also wear Carolinas and Timberlands and they are far more comfortable than these. As with all docs, wear em long enough and they're comfortable, just not as good as some other brands.

Not steel toe
These are not steel toe. The description says they are but it’s just a leather toe. They’re good looking boots but they won’t meet most job site safety requirements. I’m not sure why they’re described as or labeled “industrial” unless that’s referring to industrial music

Junk
Junk. No longer made in England. These cheap Chinese boots fell apart on me within 3 months.

Excellent
I've owned Dr Marten steel toes twice now. The first pair last me almost 12 years of moderate use. That is impressive for a boot that is less expensive than the "work" boot makers...These are nice, I would buy them again. Fit for me was true to size. Width was what I expected as well.

They look and feel Great!
I love this boot. I bought an 8 and i sometimes wear 9 depends on the shoe. These are made kind of bigger so glad i bought 8. I wear a thicker sock with them and in winter i can double up if need. Love the feel of them very comfy for a work boot. My favorite brand of work boots and i have tried them all.

Not the same as they used to be
I have had multiple pairs of these same boots over the years with no issues. I bought these in the size I normally get, but this time they were way too big and quite frankly, the quality that Doc is known for isn't there anymore. I returned out of pure disappointment.
