I received these lights about a week ago and installed them both outdoors. So far I am impressed with the functionality. The motion detection is actually better than I expected. Be aware that these lights do not have an ON/OFF switch. They only turn on at night and when motion is detected. There are no controls, so you cannot adjust anything. But, having said that, these suit my purpose and for a relatively low price. The lights require 4 D-cell batteries and are very easy to install. Each light comes with a set of 4 mounting screws. Time will tell on how long the batteries last before they have to be replaced. These lights are rated for outdoor use, and again, time will tell if they are truly waterproof. They already lasted through one rain storm. The emitted light is actually pretty good, but the light is pretty directional and forms a circular pattern. Overall, I'm very satisfied with these. And, will probably purchase more to provide additional lighting around my house.

The pair of lights work wonderfully. I attached one to a tree at the end of my drive way and another to the porch. The only thing I can say is that the one at the end of the driveway will sometimes pick up cars going by. Although that is not really a bad thing It will just shorten the life of the batteries. If it proves to be a problem I can probably move it around a bit. But I am very happy with both lights. They add lights to a normally dark driveway. The one at the end of the driveway does not always pick up the presence of a person but has always gone on when a car pulls into the driveway. This could be a fact that is near (or past) the stated distance of it detection. But the one on the porch ALWAYS goes on when approaching the porch. They were super easy to install. Just put in the batteries and screw them in to where you want them. The only tool needed is a screwdriver. (screws are provided). They provide adequate amount of light but not so much that it bothers the neighbors or us when we are home. I have had them up for about a month and they seem to be doing fine with no issues.

I bought the pair of spotlights to shine onto my driveway in front of our house. It was nice to get a pair of them for the price I expected to pay for one. I placed the batteries into one of the spotlights and tested it inside a dark closet. The light did not come on. With the back removed, the spotlight seemed to function OK, with the light shining when pressure was applied to the back side. It appeared that a small plastic bubble on the back cover was designed to put pressure onto the battery case when the motion sensor detected movement. To increase that pressure, I taped a penny onto the back of the battery case. Immediately the spotlight worked as advertised. Not only that, but it also worked under semidarkness, not only when pitch black as some people maintained in their reviews. I installed it onto my garage and was really pleased with the amount of light produced by the spotlight. The location of a streetlight at the end of my driveway did not affect the functioning of the spotlight. One spotlight was enough, so I will store the other. I rated them only “4” because I had to alter them to make them work.

I bought two of these units, loaded them up with Duracells, and placed them in my outbuilding about 18 months ago. They get regular use as we keep all of our yard equipment in this shop as well as fishing rods and some sports equipment. They sense motion exceptionally well over a good range and distance, and are still on their first set of batteries. I am elated with these lights.

This light worked fine out of the box and was plenty bright enough for the intended purpose WHEN IT WORKED. All of a sudden, the motion sensor just stopped functioning at all. Brand new, fresh and strong batteries (measured at over 1.6v) and the light comes on when first connecting but will not sense motion regardless of how dark it is. Either at night or in a dark closet. I've got other brands and another of this exact light that work fine. 50% failure rate isn't what I'd expect from something like this. Unfortunately it's too late for Amazon return. "You get what you pay for" is a saying for good reason and applies to this light.

These are made very cheaply. They are bright, but do not go on instantly, as the Mr. Beams do.

I have had these for several months now, and I continue to delight in my purchase. Since they use 4 D batteries they last for a ridiculously long time, and are impressively bright. The motion sensing can be useful, and I tend to move these around as utility lights in areas of my house with little to no light such as closets, attic space, garage, and more. My only regret is that they cannot be switched on manually, only by motion, which is unfortunate as these make damn handy floodlights but you have to wave your arm in front of them every minute or so to keep them on.

How nice to be able to recommend a product that actually does what it supposed to and is so affordable. I installed four of these at my house after a rash a break-ins in our housing addition. They work very well and give us a heightened sense of security. I believe you will find them equally satisfactory.
