212184 5900 Flange Sealant, Heavy Body RTV Silicone, 300 mL Cartridge, Black

A bit pricey but does an excellent job. I used it for sealing an oil pan in a diesel engine.

I have used this on a couple Mercedes engine assemblies now. Timing Cover, Valve Covers, Oil Pan on these later Mercedes engines they are all sealed with this special silicone and no gaskets. I have read of other techs needing to re do the job due to leaks because they try to use lower quality silicone products. This one works well as intended. Costs a lot but works. The large tube is enough to do several engines. No leaks on my work so far.

Worked Great way to expensive!

I have an automotive repair shop where I work on just about anything that rolls through the door, A customer has two Sea Doo personal watercraft that were damaged in shallow water requiring major repairs. The Loctite 5900 was what was recommended by the manufacturer for reassembly. This stuff works great, very strong and seals watertight no problem. I even started using it on other applications reguiring silicone. Not cheap but worth it to make sure the repair is done right.

Fantastic product if you wanted to spend the money, It is expensive. Buy what you need. As any sealant, the shelf life is about one year or less after opening.
