Best car mount I have ever used
I have been using this car mount for the past week or so and have immediately found it to work better than anything I have ever tried before. I have tried a number of different car mounts that mount in various ways (drink holder, vent, dashboard, CD tray). For my 2013 the CD tray is the best location. The mount I was using up until I got this one worked pretty well, but I needed to put the phone in pretty high otherwise it would block the screen on the radio. (I like the display better in portrait, for landscape it did not block the radio display.) Mounting the device high up, especially a larger phone seemed to make the mount shake more while the car was in motion. With the TechMatte MagGrip I was able to put the metal plate inside my case closer to the bottom and I notice little to no shaking while driving. The thumbscrew to tighten the mount does block a small portion of the screen, but that has not bothered me as it is just a small area and does not affect my vision for things like the backup camera. Before buying a magnetic mount I was a little afraid of it not holding onto the phone when I go over a bump, or coming off easily while trying to touch the screen. I had no need for fear as it holds very well as it is a rather strong magnet. The magnet also has not seemed to cause any kind of problem for the phone (GPS works great while mounted). I also purchased the air vent model (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OJE1SG8) for my wife's car and now I can easily mount either of my two phone in either car. One thing to note is that the CD mount will not work in every car. My wife has a 2015 Chevy Equinox and the CD is recessed near the bottom of the center console. I don't think there is a way for it to work there (it might work if mounted upside down, but it would block an area where you can store stuff at the bottom of the console. But for the Kia Soul it works great and the air vent model works great in the Equinox. Overall this is a great product that does exactly what it intends to do and a good price.

Great Phone Mount
This works great! I haven't had any problems with it so far, and I don't think I will. As the products is described, it fits into the CD slot, and screws (tightens) into place, and has a secure hold. The magnetic feature actually holds quite well, I mean it's not meant for off-road 20 foot jumps, but even with bumps and jolts during a normal drive through town, it holds the phone in place. Obviously you have the choice to put the magnet inside the case or outside the case. The magnetic hold probably wont take a very heavy phone and case combined weight, I'm not sure what the limit is. If you decide to place the magnet on the outside of your phone/case, keep in mind the adhesive bond is very strong, so it will be a permanent placement until it eventually wears off I suppose. Both supplied magnets, rectangular and circular shaped, work really well. Both are extremely thin so there's not discomfort when placed in a pocket (None that I noticed). Assuming cars have at least one or two air vents above or close to the CD player, your phone will be cooled when running the AC. The mount holder that swivels can be pretty much angled for an easy and accessible use of the phone. After reading some questions before my purchase I wasn't sure about buying it, but it wasn't a bad price. Some plastic parts might be fragile, it's not meant to be forced into place or slammed onto very hard surfaces, so handle with care. When you put it into the CD Slot, it won't go in all the way, don't force it in. I can't say much about cases, but mess around with the magnet some and see how you should and wear to place the magnet. If you're worried about playing a CD at the same time with this in, I'm guessing it may work with this in place. I play music via cassette adapter, so this makes it easier to do that. To wrap this review up, it's a great product. I would recommend it, and if you own a 2000 Dodge Dakota, this will get in the way of a few things (clock, nobs) but it works perfect.

Good, functional, and durable
I've now had this for over a year, and I'm glad to say that it has held up well and is still working well for me. It's not a perfect product, however, and there are a couple of things to be aware of when using it: 1- When installing it, be careful about over-tightening the thumb-screw after inserting it into the CD slot. When first installing it I was trying to judge whether it was secure based on how much I could vertically move it, rather than whether it was secure in the CD slot. Since the casing around the slot in my CD player has a bit of flex to it, there was a fair amount of vertical movement because of the flexing and so I kept tightening―until I heard a light cracking sound. I backed off the tightness a little bit and found that no major damage was done, just a hint of a fine fracture at one of the edges of the slot itself. Testing the snugness of the mount in the slot, I found that I could back it off a fair bit more without it coming out even when I pulled on it (gently but firmly), and the bounce I was worried about proved not be noticeable when driving. So I'd advise you to gauge your tightening based on whether the mount pulls easily out of the slot, rather than whether there's a small amount of movement or if the thumb-screw feels tight (since it would probably break the material around the CD slot long before you felt much resistance). 2- Over time the circular pad (the part with the magnets inside, the point of contact your phone/device mounts to) can loosen or even come off, which I found to be the result of it slowly unscrewing based on the way I would attach and then reposition my phone. Although it alarmed me at first, it was easy to place back on the screw and tighten until it was as snug as new. Now I just occasionally rotate the pad (counterclockwise... I think) whenever I notice it getting a little loose again. Again, on the whole an excellent product, just a couple of minor things to be aware of.

Magnet came off the ball joint as the whole mounting fell apart under the knob in less than 3 months, I wouldn't buy it again, too weak for a standard 6.7 inch Galaxy phone with a case!

Stands put, does not move a bit, looks good, great place at cd player door. I can remove if ever I want to hear to CDs. Though I would love to use a bit more wide angle in moving the magnetic base; like I wanted to make the mobile face completely to me > 45+ degrees from parallel to dashboard. The magnet strength is very good; have just started to use it.

Pretty poor product. Broke within week stress fractured around the screw. Plastic possibly weakened due to australian heat Have previously used the window mount and currently using vent mount which are better solutions.

I hop the magnet tags no do any harm to my phone, but the product it self is good.

In my Jag XF. Screen bounced up and down until it fell off. Repositioned it three further times and angled the screen back to recuce bouncing. It fell out within 5 mintes again, again and again. Returned it for refund. I was lucky not break my phone.
