Soffe Men's Original Silkie Ranger Panty, Running Shorts, 2.25" Inseam

I’ve been wanting to purchase these kind of shorts for years and finally did. What can I say extremely comfortable!! Love the fact that the liner is the same material as the “short” very silky. It’s not see through as some have said maybe the color changes that. I got a pair in black. They are a lil sheer but def not see through. I would love for the short to be a lil shorter but that’s just me. I have already gone out to the grocery store in them and got a winks. If you are a shower it will definitely be seen. I will be buying another pair or 2. I wear a size 33 in pants and order a medium, perfect fit

I am very happy with these shorts, I have swim trunks that are very similar to these that I’ve always liked which is part of why I purchased these. Also I wear compression shorts a lot at home but will usually put on a pair of shorts over them if I got some running around to do and these are great for that. I just got them so they seem to be of good quality but time will tell, I ordered a few more of them as they have a great sale going on for 2 pairs, unfortunately they’re only certain colors but can’t beat the price. I would definitely recommend them if you’re out camping or at the beach and want something light and breathable, they may not be the most stylish but I’ll take comfort over style any day of the week. I’ll update my review if need be after I wear and wash them a few times.

These shorts have been around since I was in the military, many moons ago. They're still as light and airy as can be, although you might get some looks because they're more of a 70s length than a 2020s length. They're made for running in, and nothing beats them for that. The fabric is a little see-through in the sunlight, but the built-in banana hammock keeps the twig and berries from flopping around or being on display. Now if that was too tight on you and you cut it out, you're probably going to be safe indoors, but in the sun at the beach, you might need bail money. There are no pockets other than a small key pocket on the inside of the waistband. The waistband is stretchy and very accommodating; for example, I'm a 38 waist but can still wear my size L's just fine, but my XL's are more comfy. Since the fabric dries in a couple of minutes, these would probably also make a fine swimsuit. Great shorts, but for the bold since they're a little short for today's style.

I really love these shorts. They have a great feel. The inside mesh is great and offers the correct support. The fit is a little smaller. The quality is very good. Everything can breath with these on. Just watch the size chart. I like the cut. Not too short but you are free while wearing them. I would buy them again but try a little bigger size.

First of all, why haven't I heard of these until now? These 'silky' shorts are the bees knees in terms of comfort, mobility and for the price point I honestly believe that you won't be able to find any better running/PT shorts. Before these shorts I used to wear puma or nike running shorts that almost reached my knees and didn't have any internet like these do. My eagle was able to spread its wings while running because I got 4G wifi internet with these shorts on, and at first I was a bit shy about my freedom lump showing, but then I realized soon after finishing my 8 mile PT morning run my legs got a lot bigger and tanner. It's as though these shorts had given me extra strength (perhaps not physically) but mentally and it really shows in all of my workouts. I can now lift 10 pounds without tearing a hamstring, and I can finally walk up the stairs to reach my refrigerator for an ice cold american beer. Since I bought them I have worn them for two weeks straight and they look really good with all the MAN stains and all of my friends have been commenting on how big my legs are looking now that I have tiny shorts. It is a confidence boosting pair of freedom panties and just yesterday I got a lot of comments from old filipino ladies who asked me about my calves and training regimen. Perhaps i'll break a new record and be able to run faster this week because I have silkies. They are also really great for swimming as well. I tested them out in the warm pacific ocean a couple days ago and when you get your shorts wet, that's when your eagle really spreads its wings. The shorts become see through and then they stick to your legs like a hot dog to a filthy moist bun and depending on the color you chose, they become see-through! I will never buy another pair of regular running shorts because 'merica. If you like freedom, and other shorts are just too large for you, get these ones. I normally wear a size 30-32" waist size and the medium fit perfectly, but I could even fit into a small if I wanted a snug fit. Buy these today. You won't regret it. P.S. Oh, and consider putting anti-chafe gel between your thighs if you have big thighs like me and you're going to run more than 9 miles in these on a 90-100+ degree sunny day or else you're going to start a fire between those thunder thighs...don't burn that eagle...

So I've seen quite a few complaints about these shorts. Some saying they are too big or too small, the liner being bigger than the shorts etc. That they are poorly made, flimsy etc. As I have absolutely no complaints, I'm guessing they are reviews from people who had buyers remorse and wanted something to back-up their return. Buyers remorse IS LIKELY. IF you are not fit, you will feel even more out of shape in these shorts. If you're in shape, you'll feel like you should be in better shape. Also, these shorts have a 'look what's in here' effect when worn. Really nothing is left to the imagination in the right light, from body grooming and religious practices, go out in the bright light of day and you will get stares, smirks and gawkers. The technical aspects: I fit in both medium and large without any problems. I'm 6'4" and weigh roughly 215lbs and my waist fits most anything from a 30-34 depending on the elastic of the waist. The large fits so comfortably I literally don't feel them. The elastic doesn't cut into my hips, the elastic in the liner doesn't cut into my legs. About the liner, in a large it cradles everything just right. The best part is, doesn't crush everything into a painful "ken doll" lump in the front. Whichever way you dress in pants (left/right), you can dress in these shorts. My only caution, you will have A LOT of 'flop & bounce' running in these shorts. Fair warning, even walking in them you will wag and swing around in them. Be prepared to be stared at if you wear these out in public! Also, the liner and the exterior short material are identically TRANSPARENT. As comfortable as they are you could end up 'flopping', bouncing' or 'wagging' out of the liner and nothing will be left to the imagination. Now with both the liner and the outer material in place, the transparent nature becomes more translucent, there IS a chance you'll end up showing off more of your sausage and potatoes than some may be comfortable with. I'm betting in bright sunlight or in front of a pair of high-beam headlights you will really give 'em a show. I haven't worn them wet yet, but I'll edit this review when I do. If the translucence of the shorts changes under wet conditions I'll post it. Bottom line: If you're bashful, shy, easily aroused by the thought of being nearly naked in public, or out of shape, just wear these around the house. I warn you, if you get turned on, you WILL TENT no matter what size you are. There will be absolutely no denying what is going on if that happens and don't be surprised if you get angry looks. However if you're confident enough in yourself and can control the guy downstairs and keep him calm enough, strip down, throw these on and go for a run. You will feel literally naked and you'll be concealed just enough to avoid being arrested for indecent exposure. If you get complaints, you were warned in advance. Now go! Flop, wag, bounce and swing freely away!

Let's put this out in the open first, since many of the negative reviewers are getting their shorts in a bunch over it-- the Soffe men's running shorts are short. Very short. Even their product description on Amazon says as much: "This running short is cut to a small 2.25 inches inseam for the seious runner looking for a true training fundamental." (In case you're wondering, a "seious runner" is a runner who likes to be seen, and so, one who is not afraid to show the lower ridges of his cheeks even if there's some shrubbery growing on them. And a "true training fundamental" is a fundamental who's engaged in a program to train him to handle the truth; I'm not sure why the seious runner is looking for such a fundamental.) If your decorum prevents you from tawdry displays, your time is better spent not purchasing these shorts instead of buying a pair and then complaining about it, though I am not one to slam the cathartic powers of self-righteousness. I bought two pairs of these shorts about ten months ago, and I've used them for running on & off since then. They are so thin and light it's easy to forget they're actually on. In fact, much to my surprise, I seem to have them on right now. They're great for writing reviews, but they're even better for running. I have used my Soffes in two running capacities. On scorching summer days, I wear them on their own. And on moderate-to-cold days, I wear them over compression shorts (which challenge my modesty on a more frontal end). That's right! These Soffes shield AND flaunt! If that's not versatility, I don't know what is. The nylon fabric is gauzy and silky, not quite moisture-wicking, but quick to dry nevertheless. After weekly runs in the washer and dryer, the fabric is starting to pill in places; however, given how thin it is, I expected there to be gaping holes in the nylon by now. The fabric's integrity remains strong, even if mine degenerates in such wear. There have been complaints about the absence of drawstrings; for me, that's a plus, since elastics have always been plenty strong to keep shorts up. Drawstrings end up dangling and bouncing, and I don't want any dangling and bouncing in the groin area while I run. The waistband elastic remains as strong and comfy as the day I bought the shorts. By the way, my waist size is usually 34, and the Soffe medium shorts fit just right. There's a key pouch tucked under the front elastic, just big enough for a single key (unless your front door requires a skeleton key, in which case you should first change your locks and then start running). Don't count on stuffing your smartphone or a baby kangaroo in the pouch, let alone keys on keychains. The pouch is minimal. There may be room for a key and a quarter, in case you run too far, buoyed by this feeling of unbearable lightness, and you need to call a cab home. Tip re key: if you place your key tip downward in the wee pouch, it's likely that the up/down tapping will tear an opening in the fabric, as one reviewer experienced. Instead, place the key bow-side (i.e. handle-side) down. Now go, run, show the world your hidden talents.

Purchased these shorts and apparently the liner is missing. I have long legs so these definitely fit like sheer panties on me, unfortunately due to this ive been unable to wear them outside the house

Great shorts for relaxing or sleeping in

This is my third purchase of these – my first being a 2pk navy colour size XXL, and the second a black XL. Although the XXL is lovely and loose (my preference over a snug fit), I’m on a slim-down journey anyway, so it will only be a matter of time before XLs will be more to my liking. Apart from learning at that stage that Soffe Silkies are the best shorts I’d ever owned (I’ve worn them every day since I received my first pair, including workouts & swimming on most of those days), I learned that you can be a size-out and still be absolutely comfortable! I decided I wanted to try some of the other colours (OD Green in this instance) and I will continue to order XLs as they will no doubt become looser on me over the coming months. I’ve never liked the feel of liners (I trust & much prefer the feel of my own briefs) so I ended up removing it, although the attached photos are a mix of pre & post liner removal. Fabric: As per my previous reviews, the fabric is super lightweight – you hardly know you’re wearing it. It is the non-breathing nylon type fabric (i.e. not actually moisture-wicking), but unless you’re sitting down continuously with your leg holes clamped to your thighs, plenty of air still circulates around between the fabric and your skin (which is why I suspect they still claim it to be “breathable”). My first pair of Soffe Silkies were worn for approx 14hrs on most days, including for at least an hour each in the gym and pool, and still show no real signs of deterioration to date so I know these new black ones will last well too. They dry in a few mins, except for the elastic/waist band, which takes a while longer depending on the weather/breeze. Colour: Well, they look like the Seller’s OD Green photo to me, just like in the ad, but I’m not really into colours and fashion etc. I just thought I’d try a different colour to my previous pairs. This OD Green pair (or at least the fabric/colour alone) is definitely more more sheer than my navy & black pairs, but a little more obvious with the XL being a more form-fitting size for me (i.e. the looseness of the fabric in size XXL does help reduce some sheerness to a degree). Cut/fit: Having replaced the liner with my own briefs, I’ve found the XL is just as comfortable on me as the XXL! I think removing the liner makes them feel better on because they’re about half the weight and also more accommodating of my shape. They’re not “snug” per se but I also wouldn’t call them baggy because there’s still plenty of room for the air to circulate. When on, I’m no more aware of them than I am with my XXL pair. I’m a big guy with very chunky legs who recently (within the last few weeks) moved from ~107cms (42”) to 102cm (40”) & most people would say these XLs fit me perfectly. They still don’t feel too loose/tight. I am a little less aware of the crotch seam than with the XXL because it doesn’t hang down as much, but the fabric is so light and airy anyway that it didn’t chaff or annoy me with the XXL either. Range of motion with the XL is still excellent – same as the XXL. Pockets: Obviously no different to the XXL - I’d prefer a slightly larger zip-pocket close to the waist band. The little fob-pocket with these is not confidence-inspiring when it comes to security and struggles to fit a car key. If you’re staying upright gravity would keep the key in place, but I just don’t have the same confidence when swimming or in some reclined work-out positions. Active/Exercise: Same as the XXL - fantastic! I will never go back to any gym/swim short that is heavier or longer than these, they’re just so freeing. These keep me cool enough down there and the waist band keeps the shorts of both sizes in place without any issues, including when swimming (I wonder how much that is helped by shedding the weight/drag of the inner liner?). Sheerness & Modesty: Regardless of the colour you choose, the fabric is sheer by nature (as you can see from the photos), however, with the black & navy ones I’ve used so far, the degree of sheerness varies considerably according to the angle/brightness of the light, and surprisingly they seem less sheer when wet and clinging to my skin (probably because the light can’t get in behind it?). It’s inevitable that the liner (or your briefs, if you’re a linerless man like me) WILL be seen in every detail at times by others. They are a loose/airy leg-fit (unless you get a couple of sizes smaller than your usual size), so just be mindful of that when in sitting/lying positions. Another thing to be mindful of with the lighter colours (and certainly these OD Green ones) is that the liner is made from exactly the same fabric as the outer shell, so there comes a point with the lighter colours (OD Green included) where, given the right conditions, two layers of the fabric still won’t fully protect you your parts from being seen. Tthese shorts are revealing in multiple ways, and you will never completely avoid that, but if you’re like me and naturally self-conscious, I’d really like to encourage you to at least try these. I’ve discovered by accident that they’re my super-power. That’s because every time I walk out of the house with these on, my anxiety increases, meaning the adrenaline is abundant, which in turn actually comes in really handy when working out at the gym or swimming! That is, I think my workout/swimming performance has significantly increased not just because of the freedom that lightweight shorts give me, but also because my veins are full of adrenaline whenever I wear them in public. It’s quite bizarre really - I look forward to wearing these wonderfully comfortable shorts so much that I now also dread wearing anything else despite how self-conscious they make me, but it’s been so good for my health and slimming regime, not to mention the flow-on of far-improved mental health. I just wear longer shirts over the top when elsewhere. Conclusion/Summary: I give these five stars, because of the way they’ve helped me turn my health/fitness around so much. Despite naturally being a very self conscious person, I’m now absolutely a convert to lightweight gym/running shorts, and can’t wait to try some of the other colours (even the lighter ones!).
