How does this mount hold up to vibration? I want to mount it behind the fairing on a motorcycle.

The 3m adhesive pad is really strong. But I wouldn't chance it on a motorcycle. Also the spring mechanism is also very strong but I wouldn't chance it on a motorcycle.

Can this hold an Iphone vertically or should I get something with more grip around the phone (specifically on top and bottom)?

Holds just fine. Grips the sides quite strongly.
