Definitely did the job on a 19 year old Kinetico softener. Back to 0 hardness. This was accomplished with their standard up directions.

I use this product along with a rust remover, just pour some in with every new bag of salt pellets and it keeps my water softener from clogging, knocking and water is SOFT! Great product.

I will probably use this product again however, unless I did a side-by-side comparison with the original OEM cleaner it would be hard to determine if it works better than it. It does seem to work okay so I will keep using it until I have some sort of a problem as it is more affordable than the OEM product.

Long story short - it worked to remove smell and bad taste from water. I live in an area that is notorious for hard water. I had my water softener turned to the max and was blowing through softener salt. My water had the "slippery" feel of soft water, but the water still had an unpleasant smell, and a taste best described as gravel. Finally it struck me to use some cleaner in the water softener. I opted with this cleaner due to the price and Prime convenience. After the first application I tasted my water and thought it was definitely improved. Thinking perhaps this was just having false hope, I then did a load of laundry, and much to my delight there was no foul smell. Ran a second application just to really hit it hard, and I can certainly smell a difference.

Caught my H20 Softener Company in Park City Utah marking this up 300%. LAst time I used Water Science.

The instruction on the bottle says first application 1 1/2 cups in 1/2 gallon of water in the brine well. Done! (Note the instruction on Amazon page says 1 cup) . Run through a recharge cycle. Done. Awful smell and taste afterward. Ok so maybe it is working? Run another recharge. Still bad. Running water both hot and cold now. Plan to try and call the manufacturer if it stays this bad. Hard to judge if softener has improved since the water coming out is unusable , not because it is hard, but because it seems contaminated.... UPDATE: called the company on the 800 number on the bottle this AM and a very pleasant and knowledgeable rep spent a good 15+ mins on the phone with me discussing my problem. Basically, our softener may be too far gone for this product. The chlorine of 6 years has taken its toll on our resin bed it appears. I agree with the discussion, was looking for a miracle in a bottle. I have raised it to 3 stars due to the customer service. I really cannot comment on how this product may affect your improve your equipment.

My daughter's water softener is old, and it wasn't properly softening water anymore. "Dad, what should I do?" I tried the Softener Mate product for her to stave off an expensive purchase. The first dose might have been a little too strong, as foamy gunk started coming out her faucets. (I guess "might have" is an understatement...) Anyway, after some greater volume of water went through the system, the water is clear and the softener is working just fine. Clearly the product cleansed the interior workings of the water softener so that it now is fully functional. We now use a light dose in the salt bin to disperse automatically, keeping the unit working properly. Fully satisfied!

Our water has a high mineral content which requires a water softener to minimize mineral deposits, and enhance cleaning. Our 15+ year old softener had been losing its ability to provide soft water, and had reached a point where a brine regeneration did not provide any soft water. We decided to explore the option of cleaning the resin prior to looking at replacement options. Following the product's instructions, two treatments were used for a deep clean. The softener is back to providing soft water. We will now use the product on a regular basis, following the instructions on the bottle.

I had an issue with brownish water in my brine tank so I originally put 1/2 cup in it, mixed it around and did a manual regen then I sprinkle some in (palm pull) about once a month and mix it around a bit (don't need to regen) and so far so good. No more brownish water in the brine tank. Great stuff.

Did a great job rejuvenating my water softner resin but rather expensive for Citric acid

Not sure how effective it is, just trying to keep my softener up to snuff so trying this stuff
