Lora Irish is one of the best pyrography artist, teacher and author out there and this book clearly shows her talents in both the art and way of easily explaining techniques of this intriguing art. This book covers so much for the beginner and expert alike. This book covers the basic supplies needed, practice boards, different surfaces ( such as leather, gourds, paper, fabric and chipboard with step by step project directions for each) to project patterns consisting of 43 different ones. If you are a beginner, this book gives you an in depth tutorial on strokes, shading, everything that you need to know before you pick up your pen. I personally dread buying tutorial and pattern books without being able to look through them first because they are not inexpensive, so I am adding some pictures so that you can kind of get an idea of what you are buying. I am very pleased with this book and believe me you cant go wrong if you do decide to purchase it.

Though I learned to use a wood burning pen 44 years ago this book has introduced new concepts to me. I recently purchased a pyrography pen kit and this book has details on how to use the different tips that came with the kit. The pyrography books by Lora Irish are the default books for all companies selling wood burning tools and materials. Lora Irish's books are always the best that can be found on burning all materials. She provides the best tutorials, patterns and guidelines. I am very satisfied with her work.

There was less info on exact temperatures (author seems to use a scale from 0-10 but doesn’t use exact temperatures in Fahrenheit or Celsius that I’ve found far?) and the multitudes of tool tips I’ve seen and overall there was less info than I was hoping for pyrography on leather (given how easily sculpted that media is) and more on painting than I wanted the but overall the book seems solid.

This is a book I can really use since I am a gourd artist and wish to branch off into other areas of pyrography. It gives me some new ideas and the only book I have found that gives instruction on using leather. I would recommend it highly.

Has very good samples to practice. Everything is very well explained.

As an artist, I search out Lora S Irish's books. She is very detailed in her steps for beginners and prose. An excellent book for learning wood burning and several patterns to try on different surfaces.

I'm a wood worker and I had a friend ask me to personalize a piece for her. Well I got the book so I could figure out what to get for the limited pyrography I intended to do. Reality is the book is fantastic and I have learned a ton. I will probably do a lot more pyrography than I first intended.

Bonjour, une fois de plus je tire mon chapeau à Lora.S.Irih, chaque fois que j'ai acheter un de c'est ouvrage je suis sous le charme du travail qu'elle présente dans ces livres. Beaucoup d'illustrations ce qui fait qu'il n'y as pas besoin de savoir lire pour utiliser ses livres. Un livre très sympas avec de superbe motifs. Si vous êtes passionner de pyrogravure vous ne devrez pas regretter ce livre. Amicalement Sandrine

Recommendable book on the subject for pyrographers,wheter beginning or advanced.Every book on pyrography has its own approach of the technique.
