Incredibly heat-resistant; but watch the size that you buy!
I bought this larger (13.5 inch) Rubbermaid Commercial spatula based on a recommendation from America's Test Kitchen. It is a terrific product -- but I've found that I use this large one pretty much only for stirring the bowl on my stand mixer. The long handle is great for this, because it keeps me from getting batter or dough on my hand. I liked the large one so much that I bought two of the smaller, 9-inch ones. And I find that they are so heat-resistant that I use them for stirring food on the stove. And if I forget to take them out of the skillet, they show no sign of any heat deterioration. I just wish they made them ONE SIZE smaller than the 9-inch one. One note: America's Test Kitchen said the Rubbermaid Commercial spatulas stained when used in tomatoes. I make shashuka all the time (it's mostly tomatoes) and I've NEVER had the spatula stain.

Excellent, but get the smaller size
As I often do when it comes to kitchen tools, I first looked at the review written by America's Test Kitchen (Cook's Illustrated magazine). Both this spatula and the Tovolo Silicone Spatula received "highly recommended" ratings in 2008. The Tovolo spatula seems to be suffering quality problems (according to reviewers) so I purchased this one. I love it...it's sturdy yet flexible, and is up to the task of folding chocolate chips into a large batch of cookie dough while still scraping the bowl clean. I use it with my largest bowls - I bought the 13 1/2 inch model and it's quite large. For home use I recommend getting the 9 1/2 inch version and if you still need a bigger one then also get the 13 1/2 inch spatula. I've run this spatula through the dishwasher each time I've used it and it's come out fine. No staining, no warping, and the top is still firmly attached to the handle. It's pricey for a spatula but it's professional quality - you can feel it when you hold it. It won't be the only spatula you'll need (it's far too large to get into jars or scrape melted butter from a prep bowl) but it's definitely worth getting.

well made, sturdy, quality product
Why did you pick this product vs others?: We recently got rid of all of our black utensils and looked for alternative replacements. I bought this gizmo during that effort. It’s quite nice and has a sturdy feel, not flimsy at all like some utensils. I’m thinking of adding a second one to the drawer because we use this one so much. I run it through the dishwasher all the time too with no ill effects.

Tops for several reasons..
This spatula has been preferred by America’s Test Kitchen for years. I love it because its more versatile than your average spatula in that the long handle gives you more reach into deeper pots, bowls, containers, etc., and the high heat resistance means you can use it in hot pans without it melting or eventually breaking down. It’s great for making sauces, scrambled eggs, and creamy soups. I would not try it for frying or caramelizing sugar/candy making, but there are better tools for that. Keeps the sides and bottoms of working bowls and most pots and pans nicely scraped down and stirred. Oh, there’s also a thumb-sized notch on the back of the scraping blade that’s handy for running around the rim of the bowl or pot that needs scraping. I’d like it’s twin in a spoonula shape.

Sturdiest Spatula
It is big, but it works well.

Great for mixing cake batter
It's a big, sturdy spatula. I bought the 13.5" type but it actually is 14" long. The blade is 2&3/4" wide. When folding sifted flour into wet cake batter, this works great, especially when you are making a big cake and have a big batch of cake batter. The blade edge is not too soft or hard, it is ideal to scrape off everything from the bowl. Another silicone spatula I have is too thin and it is fine for light cream or meringue, but for cake batter it is not trusty enough. This Rubbermaid spatula is great and I love it. I feel the handle is little too long and takes so much space on my countertop when working, it could be better if it's a little shorter. I might cut it off to make the stem/handle shorter...

Handsdown the best rubber spatula I own
Have bought numerous spatulas over the years and all have problems. Either the head falls off the handle, or they melt, or they are too stiff to properly scrape a bowl, or the handle gets hot if you are using them at the stove. This one has NONE of those problems, plus it has the handy notch that is perfect for scraping the flat beater blade in a kitchenaid stand mixer. It goes in the dishwasher no problem. One thing to note is that it is actually 14" long. Get out a ruler and visualize. Get the 9 1/2 inch one for everyday home cooking. The larger one is better for big bowls and heavy batters. These are also great for making custards and puddings and the like on the stove where you must scrape the bottom of the pan frequently. Color isn't gorgeous, but I pretty much threw all my other spatulas away after getting this one and a couple of the 9 1/2 inch ones.

Great Rubbermaid product, avoid knockoffs
I bought 2 knockoffs and wow what a difference from the real thing. This is a great product easily worth the price. It has a neutral rest, doesn’t stain and is firm but flexible. I love this product and use it quite often. It’s also a proper high heat spatula because it’s one solid piece, unlike cheaper knockoffs that the white part can come off.
