Quick Vent Safe with RFID

It's unfortunate when someone, with GOOD INTENTIONS, posts a slightly negative comment without really understanding why a product is purposely designed to operate in a certain way. The complaint was that the customer exchanged 3 of them because they would not open by waving the RFID card in front of the vent. That's right - it's not designed to open like that. It's NOT a "Motion" or "Proximity" sensor. There are very specific reasons for different technologies. It's a "Touch" sensor. For only a quick second, the card is lightly touched near the center of the vent near the top. Very reliable and quick. The RFID technology in these units needs to have a second - to actually "read" the card. Sort of like a fingerprint reader, simply "hovering" or "waving" the card in front of the vent does not give the sensor the time needed to perform the "read". Hope this helps others for a better understanding.

This is a well-conceived, well-constructed safe. Painted to match the wall and other air vents, you would never guess it's there. But also important to me was the superb performance of the QuickSafes team. The backup battery arrived with its electrical insert tip broken -- and they were incredibly responsive and helpful. I had a reply to my email within an hour, and Luke quickly put a replacement in the mail. He also offered other assistance, which I didn't need. It is always nice to get good products and product support, and this was about as good as it gets.

I like it it’s ok hide safe but it can be more better. They can make it looks more real and more stronger if u look at it closely u will find out it’s not real the air lines it’s closed all plastic and It’s easy to broke

I needed a secure place to keep my home defense handgun away from small children. I am not 100% sold on a "mechanical" device under stress in a time of dire need but this was my only option. However I put the included fob on my flashlight and have practiced getting to my pistol several times a day. This safe opens quickly every time and after putting in fresh Duracell batteries I do trust it. It is also made in the USA not China or another foreign place so that increases my faith in it. It installs easily if you are handy and does blend in very well. I don't think most people would realize it is a false vent. Keep in mind this is not a heavy duty vault/safe I am sure I could pry it open in a minute or less with a crow bar. This is meant to keep a handgun hidden and secure with quick access.

I am seeing the same issues as Lee V. When closed there is a gap at top of door & you can pull the bottom of the door away from the wall approximately 3/8"

Very simple review....this is one of the coolest things i ever seen works great as advertised.Im not a install person so i callled my buddy and he came over and had it installed in about 10 minutes ...really. great product and i really like tbe back up battery pack in case your batteries die...you can stilll get in your secret safe. Great item and i will be adding more in addition to adding some secret shelves made by the same company......Great product thank you and looking forward to putting more of these in my home it GREAT.

The media could not be loaded.  I was excited to receive this product based on research and reviews. Unfortunately I was very underwhelmed. Once installed into the wall and secured to the wall studs, I noticed how loose the hinges were. When it is locked, you can pull the bottom of the vent out about half an inch. I did not want to damage the product, so I didn't pull very hard, but it is very apparent someone could pull the vent off very easily. The hinges are built with cheap, thin metal.In addition, when it is locked and mounted in the wall, the vent doors weight causes it not to pop open. I have to pull it open myself.Ultimately it is a hidden vent compartment, so I'll give it two stars. I believe the quality does not justify this being labeled as a "Safe". Anything stored in here is far from being safe.Video of the vent - (...)

The upper left corner of the frame was badly bent. Fortunately, I'm handy and was able to straighten it enough to close properly. Whatever bentit was strong enough to bend the metal about 30 degrees out of whack. Their quality control person was sure asleep at the switch...
