Great book, bad publishing
Akko Mano , in my opinion, should not get her next book published by Roost Books. She is too good an author for them. The excellent line drawings and instructions in the book are rendered less effective by the publisher's not-so-excellent idea of sizing the book a good inch smaller in both length and width than similar Japanese sewing books on the market . The drawings are uncomfortably small and the font size tiny, and I am not even a senior citizen sewing for her grandchildren (imagine how difficult it will be for such a person to use this book ! ) . I would have rated this book at 5 stars for the author and 1 for the publisher , but since such an option does not exist, I'm going with the average of the two, 3 stars.

Funky and fun
Granddaughter approves of the dress on the cover but felt the rest was too grungy for her little 7 year old self. I tend to concur. The photography is a bit 'out there' with huge boots on little girls and some clothes they really wouldn't be seen dead in...unless they are hippyish in which case they'd be perfect. My granddaughter is the average side of wanting to be accepted by her peers so has said no to the uber trendy trousers....

Beautiful book.
Beautifully written book with more than enough patterns to keep you going for some time. Not all are easily done but with patience & the right materials, then itโs a great addition to my collection.

complicated patterns need to be in colours to make easier to follw
Beautiful designs but the patterns are complicated to trace as they are all one colour. Starts at age 4 but can be adapted to smaller sizes. Can't wait to start sewing with this book
