At home test is easy to understand and interpret results.
Worked exactly as described. The information and instruction included were easy to read and follow. Most importantly the results were easy to read and understand. The price was better than the local Lowe’s. Test was used for well water. I really appreciate the information and security provided by this bacteria test kit.

Good
I used this to home test my well after chlorinating it to verify bacteria was now under control. It is easy to use and if you understand the expectations a good product. I filled and shook as instructed and the water was a very very purple color. After 24 hours it was still that very purple color. As it approached 40 or so hours, the purple became paler. As it approached 48 hours it was a pale purple with about an 1/8 ring of beige-ish yellow toward the bottom. I posted the question here how to interpret that and the seller responded that for a positive bacteria it would change to a bright yellow so this test was showing no bacteria. I sent another sample to my local water lab and it came back negative for total coliform bacteria to confirm that. So keeping in mind that results longer than 48 hours are not valid and that the change would be to a defined yellow, this worked good.

Test seems accurate. Good value!
We are selling a family home which is served by a private well. The county requires testing of the water, which came back positive for total coliform (not e-coli). Test was done by a private lab, and my first reaction (before spending a lot of $$ on water treatment) was to verify the test. I purchased this kit, which was easy to use and showed no bacteria at all. I then purchased a 5 vial kit from LaMotte, which also showed no bacteria. Armed with those results, I hired a different professional lab to do another test. That test also came back clean! My family has been drinking this well water for many years. It's clean, cold, tastes great and nobody has ever gotten sick from it. The only parasites are the testing companies, inspectors, agents, and everyone who wants a piece of your hide... I'm glad these products are available!

Works as expected
I saw mostly good reviews but some bad. So in light of the fact that you pay hundreds!! of dollars for an extensive test I was happy to see that this inexpensive version did the trick to confirm I have coliform in my well water. I did pay for the extensive test and already knew I had the bacteria in the well water, but I wanted to test our filtered water just to be extra safe. I took advantage of the two pack that I purchased and tested the unfiltered and filtered. As expected after about 30 hours the sample with the unfiltered water started to change to yellow and by the 48 hours it had a yellow light purple look to it. The filtered water was perfectly in tact and this allowed me to seek out a well and water treatment specialist to clean out and inspect the water afterwards. Thank you for making this available. I recommend to anyone this product if they are specifically looking to test. One critique is there is no warning to make sure you are not mixing your hot water with the cold. You think this would be common sense but you would be surprised and I guarantee the people that gave bad reviews did not do the test correctly or had other expectations than what the product offers

It worked, easy to use, company very responsive
Our well pump had to be replaced. Once our water was up and running again we needed to test for bacteria before drinking it. This test was easy to use. The directions were very clear. After filling and shaking the bottle according to the directions, we noticed there was still powder in the bottom. Not knowing if this was a problem we wrote to Health Metric using their website. Within a few hours we had an answer. Powder still visible after shaking is fine. The liquid in the bottle eventually consumed it. The idea behind it is, if there is bacteria present it will eat whatever is in the bottle and turn yellow. Our test bottle remained purple to the end of the 48 hrs. This means there was no bacteria present. I would suggest, when doing this test, that you disinfect your faucet where the water comes out as well as disinfect your sink, in case the water splashes while doing the test. You want to start with as clean a situation as you can so it doesn't interfere with the result.

Results unclear...ish? See photos. 🤷
I followed instructions exactly to collect the water sample. I have experience with collecting sterile samples, so this protocol is not new to me. At exactly the 48-hour mark, the sample seemed to be at a transitional point between purple and yellow, but the label on the bottle made it REALLY difficult to tell for sure. So i transferred the sample into a clear glass jar to read the result. It was still difficult to tell what color it was, as the sample seemed to be more of a purplish brownish yellowish color than the clear purple or yellow shown in the pictures. The sample also ended up being cloudy, even though we have clear water. I found this odd. I took a photo of the result outdoors in natural light and indoors, and in the photos it looks purple. **This is NOT how it looked to the naked eye.** (I'm unsure of why these things happened, but maybe the company will be able to advise once they read my review.) So long story short, we treated our well with bleach as a precaution, and I'm mildly annoyed that the results weren't crystal clear.

We just shocked our well and wanted to test to ensure it worked. Tested both right at the well and from the faucet in the house. Easy to use test which was negative in both cases and I now feel confident to drink my water (had already tested minerals).

[-My last review was removed. It's difficult to review a product which tests for coliform bacteria without violating amazon "community guidlines". So I will ****** out some essential words.-] This ****** test is easy to use with clear results. I tested 2 separate water supplies for **** with another companies kit afterwords to compare and verify. Both kits returned the same results in the time frame. They seem to agree, no **** in my water. Good **** test. **** you for reading my review. Have a good ***.

I have a ground well and was told by my neighbours that the water is potable but I did not want to take any chances so I got this kit to test for Coliform Bacteria and the results were negative so I have a sense of peace of mind. However I have no way of confirming the results so I have to trust the manufacturer of this kit. So far I have drank the water with no problems. The kit was very easy to use, the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

The 2 day testing time is quicker than most other methods. Gives a good indication.
