Delicious!
I am a repeated customer on Carbon's Malted Original Mix. When I was much younger I would go to this swanky restaurant in New Braunfels known for their famous breakfast. I didn't eat eggs (I was a kid) and would only eat the delicious pancakes. My mom's pancakes never tasted this good (and hers were great) as this has a distinct flavor that must be corn or the malt? Back to my story....so as a kid I asked the waitress where the restroom was etc. and after she gave me the location (across the room, turn right, go passed the lobby desk and I would see the restroom entrance. These instructions were not the best for a kid!) The waitress did me a big favor!!! I accidently went into the kitchen of the restaurant. (chose the wrong door lol) and remember seeing this round red and yellow tub of Pancake Mix that said Carbon's. The staff told me I must be lost and escorted me out of the kitchen and to my destination. I told my mom that I saw the big tub of pancake mix and wanted her to get some too! Needless to say they didn't sell Carbon's in the grocery stores where we lived. (I was disappointed, as a kid, having to eat what I considered less than desirable pancakes at home because I had eaten the best pancakes ever at the swanky restaurant.) To my shock and amazement I saw the familiar red and yellow round can of Carbon's pancake mix on Amazon!! I bought it (immediately I might add) and couldn't wait for it to arrive. When Amazon delivered it, I rushed into the kitchen to whip up a batch and relished every bite I took. These are sooooh good! I make them according to the directions but sometimes I add Mexican vanilla to the batter just for a little variety as well. Of course I use REAL butter when I prepare these :-) I can tell you the price is higher than your average pancake mix (even with Bidenomics) but the mix is so worth every penny.

Definitely an award-winning and YUMMIEST waffle mix ... ever ...
Have you wondered (or are you still wondering) why the hotel's waffle mix tastes so good, and it seems like you have a hard time replicating the recipe with the waffle mix you got from the grocery stores ? Well, I have and it was baffling! I didn't give up on my wish to be able to make the YUMMIEST waffle at my own kitchen. I went to Amazon.com and encountered this product "Golden Malted" Waffle mix. Golden Malted Pancake & Waffle Flour, Original, 33-Ounce Cans (Pack of 3) At first, I was hesitant, especially after seeing that it only comes in a pack of 3 -- "I still have those 'failed' old waffle flours in the kitchen, why would I buy 3 to simply try? " After extensive reviews both on amazon and google, I decided to try it as a lot of people gave it good ratings and agreed that it tastes like the hotel's waffle mix. The result ? OMG, the waffle was mouth-watering. I followed the recipe written: Mix waffle flour + eggs + some water + butter. Using a Belgian waffle maker, cooking was about 5 min. The aroma was just heavenly. I paired it with "Grade B - dark amber" Real Mapple Syrup Coombs Family Farms 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup Grade B, 32-Ounce Jug . (Yes, there are imitation waffle syrup out there!) It was really the YUMMIEST waffle I ever made -- crispy on the outside, moist in the inside and it's not heavy (like pancakes) I have been buying this waffle mix and truly recommend it to those who have been in 'the hunt of the perfect waffle mix' They have the "all natural" Golden Malted All Natural Waffle & Pancake Mix, 33-Ounce Containers (Pack of 3) and "blueberry flavored" Golden Malted Pancake & Waffle Flour, Blueberry, 16-Ounce Cans (Pack of 4) . I have not tried these. And, I think I am staying with the "original". Enjoy !

Best Waffle Mix!
This is the best waffle mix out there, by far. Itโs exactly what most restaurants use to make their begin waffles. If you follow the recipe exactly your waffles will be perfect.

YUM! Will transform your life - best pancakes & waffles ever!!
Let me start by saying, I don't particularly like pancakes & waffles. I know, I know it's almost unAmerican. But, here's the thing, I make them all the time for the kids. They are so thick & heavy and covered in butter & syrup-yuck. I'm a pretty good cook and I just can't get it right. I order them in restaurants and it's the same thing-so much dough, just ...so much dough... yuck. On the other hand, you probably LOVE pancakes & waffles. You've got your old favorite recipe you've made forever, and it's great. You make them all the time, your kids love them, you make them for your significant other on special occasions and it's pretty wonderful in your part of the pancake/waffle world, right? WRONG. Until you make your pancakes & waffles from Carbon's Golden Malted Pancake & Waffle Flour-you have NOT had a good pancake/waffle. I'm not kidding here, people. I don't like pancakes/waffles but I LOVE LOVE LOVE them made with this flour. It has the best taste-probably the 'golden malted' thing. I'm guessing here, since I don't know diddly-squat about flour! We made pancakes & Belgian waffles using the recipe on the can, that's right-the RECIPE IS ON THE CAN! Follow it exactly and get ready for light, fluffy and delicious. Only a little butter & a tough of syrup needed-no need to weigh these circles of pancakey love down with that mess; just a light touch and eat until you can't walk. Now I get it-why you people eat pancakes all the time. And it only took one little can from Carbon's to show me the light. See the light, folks, buy a can and change your life!!

Very tasty waffles
This mix makes very good and tasty waffles. However, they are just very good and do not reach over into excellent or extremely delicious. When you first open the mix, the flour smells wonderful! You get a distinct malt scent and it makes your mouth water. To make waffles, you add water, egg and melted butter to the mix. Once the waffles are cooked, the mix browns and crisps nicely on the outside and the inside of the waffles are soft and fluffy. Upon tasting them, there is only a slight hint of the malt flavor and they are just a bit bland, especially compared to the initial scent of the mix. But the waffles are still very good and get even better with some good syrup. I tweaked the recipe by using half and half rather than water and adding vanilla extract to part of a batch and molasses to another. That substantially improved the taste. As a base mix, this was very good and made tasty if not outstanding waffles. But I can see unlimited potential for tweaking this mix by adding various enhancements and taking waffles to new taste directions. Overall, I enjoyed the waffles and yes, I do recommend this.

Holds its own with non-yeasted scratch batters
I bought a Kitchenaid Pro "flip" double waffle maker for us and another one for our son's family. When using milk (instead of water) this mix is virtually as good as most scratch recipes---except for yeasted recipes (e.g. King Arthur's Flour Co. recipe) requiring overnight preparation and/or those which separate the eggs, whip up the egg whites and fold them into the batter. This mix's quick and easy solution can cause problems for those who are not experienced in waffle making. Because it can be whipped up in 5 minutes, some people take the eggs and milk directly from the fridge, mix them and quickly pour the batter into the pre-heated waffle iron. The cold ingredients make a cold batter that plays hell with the proper baking times. When the waffle irons are opened at the preset time, the waffles stick because they are not cooked through. From that point on things go downhill as you're left to guess when the process is done...or overdone. Here's an simple solution if you plan on quick and easy waffles the next morning: before going to bed, take the whole eggs out of the refrigerator and put them on the counter. They will safely be at room temperature when you use them in the morning. Use canned, condensed milk (which requires no refrigeration). In this way all of the ingredients are already at room temperature when you mix them in the morning---no need to wait for the ingredients to reach room temperature. IMHO: the condensed milk gives the waffles a better texture and flavor than regular milk. But DO let the finished batter sit for 5 or 10 minutes to let the baking soda do its job.

Carbon's Golden Malted is hard to top
This waffle mix doesn't need another review. You can tell from the raves that this is top quality mix. I just wanted to add a note on preparation. When I first got this it kept turning out a little dry, which was confusing. Other waffle mixes didn't do that with our waffle iron. The taste was perfect... but the moisture content was just a little off. I even wrote to the company and they made some suggestions, but I was still struggling a little. We own the Oster ECO Dura Ceramic Flip Waffle Maker, White . I know there is a lot of debate about ceramic waffle makers but our seems to work great. Anyway, after fiddling with the preparation, today I finally perfected it. Here is how I did it. First I always make sure to mix the wet ingredients first, then add the dry mix. Also, it's important not to over mix the ingredients. It will still be a little lumpy. But what made the difference for us was adding in a little bit of extra butter. I use real butter, which I melt before adding in. This time though, I put in approximately 2 1/2 tablespoons to the mix. That made all the difference. Not only was the taste perfect, the moisture content was spot on as well. This is probably our favorite mix now. Augason Farms Blueberry Pancake Mix #10 Can, 55 oz is right up there as well, but this Carbon's Golden Malted is hard to top. If you are a waffle fan(atic) - this is worth the money.

New version not the same
I have purchased this 3 pack over 30 times, and have waffles for breakfast nearly every day. The latest package had a notice stating the packaging had changed, but still great taste. Not only has the packaging changed, so has the ingredients and recipe. No egg needed. It's sweeter. I don't need more sugar in my diet, but could use the protein from the added egg. The UPC code has also changed, so this is actually a different product. It should be sold as such.
