Good product, work well, easy to install
I used these to replace a number of 20 year old magnetic latches in the custom, flush door cabinets in our kitchen and dining room: - They're more compact (though the magnetic part fit the existing screw holes) and less obtrusive. - The stainless steel is attractive. - The adhesive strips are useful to hold the plates in place long enough to drill starter holes for the screws, much easier than trying to mark where they go; a time saving feature. - They hold the doors closed securly but aren't so strong as to make them difficult to open. - They included extra screws and adhesive strips which is a help. A minor complaint is that the plates placed on the magnets were backwards, i.e., the chamfer for the flat screw holes was on the wrong side. Easy enough to turn them around unless you forget in which case you need to remove the adhesive from the wrong side and from the cabinet door. Only happened once.

Self-positioning. No measuring. Well made. Slick!
My husband and I both do a fair amount of DIY woodworking and simple carpentry, and these (and another style cabinet magnet by the same company) solved a problem. We had built some shallow end cabinets to serve as what cabinet catalogs call "message centers," but had trouble keeping them closed because they were too shallow to accommodate self-closing hinges. One of these magnets on each cabinet solved the problem. Now we get that satisfying "click" every time we close the doors. A great feature of these magnets is that they come with double stick pads so you don't even have to measure. You press one side of a "magnet sandwich" to the frame or door, and close the door. The other magnet automatically sticks to the right position, so when you open the door, both are stuck in position waiting to have the screws put in. Slick!

Well-made, but metal plate needs to be taller/wider
These are well-made, and I am glad that they come with holes for screws in both the magnet part and the metal plate so they can be installed without adhesive (my landlord doesn't allow adhesive). Once you get them installed, they hold well - exactly the right about of force to keep a cat out of the cupboard while still opening easily for a person. Part of the trick to installing them well is to put the magnet part further forward in the capboard than you think you need to - very few cupboard doors actually close flush, so for the magnet to make contact when the door is closed it needs to be further forward so it fully touches the plate. With all of that said, these do have one drawback if you plan to install them with screws instead of adhesive - the metal plate is very narrow, so your measurements have to be extremely precise or it will have trouble making contact with one or the other of the two magnet strips in the magnetic piece (and you do need both to get the door to hold closed well). I wound up re-drilling holes a few times to get the metal plate to line up with both magnets. They need to make the metal plate rectangle taller/wider so there is a little more room for measurement error. This won't be a problem if you use the adhesive, because then you just let the magnet hold the metal plate, put adhesive on it, and close the door on it so the adhesive sticks with it in the right spot. But if you have a landlord who doesn't let you use adhesive and you have to install it with screws only, a bigger metal plate would certainly make that easier!

Magnets for cabinets
We purchased these for our cabinets in our kitchen. Our kitchen is old and the cabinet doors are warped which means they do not stay closed and are always popped open. This drives me insane. We cannot afford to replace them at this time because we need a complete gut and total remodel of our kitchen as it is not user friendly. Until then, we have painted the cabinets and counter tops to get us through and purchased these magnets to hold the doors closed. They are awesome. I no longer walk into my kitchen and think I need to close all the cabinets because they are all popped open. Without these magnets, they are always popped open but with them...ahhhh...closed cabinets. I do not walk in thinking either the kids opened all the cabinets to drive me crazy or we have a ghost opening all the cabinets all the time. They stay closed! We did not need a strong magnet like in a camper, but just enough to hold them shut. These fit the bill perfectly!

Wrong type of screws for install
Be aware that if you purchase these magnets, you will need to go to the hardware store and purchase your own screws to do the install. First off, the screws sent by the seller are so cheaply made that the head of the screw will simply twist and break off before you screw it in all the way so it is tight. Secondly, the seller has sent only flat head screws which would normally work fine for the metal piece that attaches to the cabinet door (if they did not break so easily). But you will need pan head or washer head screws to attach the magnet piece to the cabinet frame. Flat head screws will not be able to hold the magnet piece tight enough due to the conical shape of the underside of the screw head.

Get rid of the brittle plastic, use stainless steel ones.
Cabinet Magnets Jiayi 12 Pack Magnetic Door Catch Stainless Steel Kitchen Cabinet Magnetic Catch Drawer Magnet for Cabinet Door Cupboard Magnetic Closures for Cabinet Magnetic Latches Cabinet Closer. I used these to replace the missing or broken & brittle plastic catch on my wooden plantation shutters. The shutter company installed plastic catch on windows in the deep south. Plastics failed in one to two summers. I love the looks of the stainless steel. The shutters are now staying closed neatly. So easy to install. I am 72 year old female and I installed these myself. I had hope that the existing holes could be used to install the new catch, but the new catch are a bit longer than the old plastic ones. However, I only had to drill one new hole on one end. The new catch covered the old hole so, the job doesn't look messy. These stainless steel will probably outlast the shutters. They catch and hold nicely.

Good General Use Cabinet Catches
Well packaged and functional. They come with their own adhesive strips or you can use your own screws, but the flat strike plate may be hindered by the screw heads if you have the wrong type. You will need to make sure they are the tapered head wood screws to maintain a proper contact surface with the magnetic retaining latch. Not super strong but good enough to keep cabinet doors closed. Would not use in a mobile home as I don't believe the hold is strong enough for securing doors on vehicles in motion, but around the house is fine.

Cat opening up your cabinets?
We were struggling with our cat opening up the kitchen cupboards to snoop around or to dig through the garbage can (located in cabinet under the counter). We have picked up some magnetic locks similar to this from the store and they just seemed 'weak". Not a strong pull to them at all. I decided (and crossed my fingers) that I would try these as a last attempt to keep the cat out. (Knowing if they didn't work-I could just return them). We received them quickly, installation was very quick! (unlike the ones that 'click' into each other). I was surprised at how strong the magnetic pull is!! I have had them installed for a couple weeks now and I am still loving them! No cat problems any more! WORTH THE MONEY!!!!

Great product
These little magnetic latches are a great value. I used them to hold shut closet doors (French door style) with “dummy” handles. The magnet strength is substantial and more then adequate to hold a closet or cabinet door shut. Installation: I was unsure given the mixed reviews on installing these, but some common sense and basic tools make it simple. First, dry fit the magnets. I mounted the bigger magnet first, then I mounted the metal strip to the door. This ensures your metal strip is in the correct place for both sides to meet. Second, PRE DRILL holes! You must use a very fine drill bit and make holes before screwing the screws into the holes. They are small screws that can easily strip if turned aggressively. If you can use a drill and a screwdriver and have 15 minutes, this product is easy to use and install.
