This was one of my two Christmas projects, and this is quite a nice contemporary bookshelf though you might want to take some look at the pictures as the coloration is unapologetic in its aggressive tone that may or may not compliment the rest of the room. The shelves have both a warm coloration and a subdued architecture. The metal frame comes as three pieces to fasten together with crossbars, and the heavy shelves can be set accordingly. While this is not a very difficult assembly, the parts are rather heavy. The wood shelving together probably weighs 40-50 lbs or so (this is not particleboard), and the frame is a good 20-30 lbs assembled and while it is particle board, the quality of this board is quite dense. You probably want two people to assemble the frame as positioning tends to be trickier if you have to coordinate the lifting with it. Sliding in the shelves afterward is relatively straightforward, but you want someone to spot you if you are putting shelves at or above the 9th run if you are going Once assembled, there are three posts with 11 rungs (including the base) that you can set seven shelves on between two of the three posts. If you leave the bottom rungs alone, this means you have 9 surfaces to stack books, but choosing the right places takes some thought. On the 11 levels, only 3 of them can be unoccupied, and so positioning the unoccupied levels for larger books probably needs to occur at Levels 5 and 6 from the bottom rung. The top two rungs are very high, so these might be better off as decorative rungs rather than functional ones. What you are basically paying for with this bookshelf is one that can take quite substantial weight as all shelves will hold a full set of elephant folios without collapsing as well as being aesthetically pleasing. The high quality and durability of the bookshelf more than justifies the cost, and the look is quite distinctive for the right sort of room.

When this first arrived, I was excited to put it together. I was also eagar to see the quality of this shelving unit to justify such a steep price. It took my son (pictured) and myself about 30 minutes to put together. It was really easy to assemble. I chose not to add the little knobs that were included. I think it's for decoration. I wanted the shelves flush to the wall, and the little knobs would push it out about 3 inches from the wall. The frame is obviously metal, but the shelves, Come Assembled!!!! Sweet! The shelves are why this unit is at this price point. The shelves are really well made thick painted wood. They are sturdy, heavy, smooth and I must repeat, really well made. You can arrange the shelves however you would like. It's tall and wide, lots a room. My son is 6 ft tall, and you can see in the picture that it is slightly taller than he is. I really like the look of this shelving unit and really surprised by the superior quality of those shelves. They looked plastic in the original pictures on Amazon. Totally not plastic.

This took me about 45 minutes to put together and about 45 minutes to unpack, organize and breakdown the packaging. I was so happy that my unit arrived damage free because of the other damage photos people have posted. The gold frames are more matte than glossy and not terribly bright gold which I am very pleased with. The white shelves have nice deep nooks on each end to rest on the ladder rungs of the uprights so the shelves are quite stable. The shelves also have a raised 1/2" edge all the way around them, so each shelf is tray like. I did not realize this and like this feature very much! The shelves are painted white and feel and sound like they are wood, but they are likely laminated (smooth) particle board. They are smooth, painted and finished on all sides! One shelf had two minor paint drips, but I just faced that side to the rear. The gold frame pieces each had some very minor scratches and one rough 1/4" blemish on one rung that I can live with. I feel this likely could have been prevented with better foam wrap packaging on the uprights. All six feet have screw out rubber tipped height adjustable feet should you need to adjust for uneven floor surfaces. The parts also include several wall anchor hardware pieces and zip ties! Originally I thought the price of this was high, but now that I have it and have assembled it, I do think it is very nice looking, it is plenty sturdy and is quite large. Make sure you pay attention to the measurements because this is both wider 51.25" and deeper 18 3/8" than many shelving units and is about as tall as any come at 72"/6 feet. You can set the shelves on any rung at any height on either side!! This offers great flexibility for displaying all shapes and sizes of items!

This bookcase really looks great. Super chic and on-trend. Although it comes in a huge box that weighs ~120 pounds, it's easy to build. I did have to get help from my husband to bring the box inside, but from there, it took me about 30 minutes to do by myself. The frame is metal, and the shelves are wood (probably particle board), painted glossy white on all surfaces, and have a lip around the outer edge. Shelves are all adjustable (just place them on different rungs). Books will need bookends to stay upright. One feature of note is that, because of how the shelves sit on the frame, they all need to be at different heights. All of the vertical bars in the frame have feet at the ends that screw in/out to accommodate uneven floors. There are wall anchors as well, should you want to affix it. Altogether, the unit is approximately 6' tall, 4.5' wide, and 19" deep. It's huge. Make sure you measure your space first!

If you want a stylish, extremely sturdy bookcase, this one is IT! I was blown away by the quality of construction and the versatility of shelving placement. Also. WOW!!! Is this thing ever elegant! I was apprehensive at first to buy it because I really don't have many pieces of furniture as elegant as this and I thought it might really be out of place in my home. The bookshelf actually elevates the rest of my home's decor! I believe I will have this bookshelf for decades... Let me also say, it was not a piece of cake to assemble, and I am confident it is a two person assembly job. Once assembled, you must know, this is a big bookshelf and it has some serious heft! Be careful, because once in place, you will not want to do a bunch of moving here and there at whim! I am so glad I got this! I think you might be too!

When this was delivered, I was surprised at how heavy it was. This is a substantial bookcase. I ordered it for my daughter and she was able to put it together with minimal help. However, to move it from where she put it together to its selected location took several people because the box was so heavy and unwieldy. The gold is muted, and doesn't look as shiny as in the picture. She plans to put a mix of books and knickknacks on it. She thought the deep shelves would be able to hold books in place without bookends. It also really made her room look nice. This would be great for anyone who likes a modern vibe. It definitely looks like a high end piece of furniture from stores like Dania or Macy’s.

We are using this, along with the “Billy Bookcase” from this line in a closet as the shelving units. These are really beautiful in our “designer” guest bathroom. This really brings the closet up a level in design. No broken parts and everything was included to put this together. Assembly took about an hour. The directions are clear, all the hardware is clearly marked. The shelves are heavy and the body is made from metal. Very stylish piece. Overall, may seem expensive but you will not find this quality in most stores.

Understated beauty! Extremely well constructed and easy to assemble although it takes more than one person. The finish is beautiful and looks like it would last the shelves are very sturdy. It has an understated elegance to it and I believe it is a good value. It is perfect for smaller spaces as a way of using for storage or display
