You have to be particular in the type of rail you use. Most mounts including the one provided with the gun by Ruger will block the view of the sights. The Picatinny/M1913 rail must have a furrow or grove running down the middle of the mount. Without that furrow or grove the folding sight will be obscured. I hope that helps.

Are these exact factory spec? Only really want to replace the front sight, happy with the factory rear on my 10/22 takedown. Would this be a problem?

I bought this for my wife's 10/22, and she seems to like the sites much better than OEM stock setup. I fired weapon also, to compare the sites.... and IMHO target acquisition was much easier to acquire and put rounds down range. With regards to keep your current rear sight.... why not.... just don't take it off when you change the front sight. Easy Peazy.
