Without beating around the bush, Assassin's Creed 3 was released amid criticism and fan disappointment. Love it or hate it though, many of the game's original issues have since been patched at the time of me writing this, but despite this, the guide nonetheless provides unprecedented guidance to an otherwise muddled experience. It seems as though, with Assassin's Creed 3, any good idea on the table found its way into the game, for better or worse; resulting in an incredibly overwhelming ammount of side missions and diversions, many of which are not formally introduced. This is where the guide comes in - with quality to match its preceeded reputation, this guide provides a much needed structure with which to tackle the huge task list, covering full-sync objectives, bonus quests, weapons and armor details, DLC coverage etc. In addition, the guide also contains a story analysis of all games in the Assassin's Creed saga, tackling answers to tough questions through developer insight, and providing a history vs. story section which supports the vast Assassin's Creed lore, and recognises just how closely this game explores real-life history. This is all neatly packed in a spoiler-labelled section at the end of the guide, whilst the aforementioned areas of the guide remain entirely spoiler-free. To reiterate, this game guide gives fans much-needed direction through the winding, underrated narrative in Ubisoft's latest 'Creed, along with some fantastic, appreciated extras; and whilst previous guides are worthy of their highest praise, this one perhaps deserves a little more, for raising the quality and enjoyment of the entire game. Wholly recommended. Review: Great Addition to my Assassin's Creed Collection - Very nice look and quality! The hardback edition is artfully put together and is a must have for any AC Fan! This Collectors' Edition Strategy guide helps you along the journey/Game play, and also helps with the many side missions available in story mode! It comes with a huge map of The wilderness, New York, and Boston at the time this story takes place! This is the Second Collector's guide I've bought starting with AC Revelations, and I will definetly be looking forward to the next game and guide in the Assassins Creed Series! I highly recommend this to any AC Fan! Keep Gaming! Oh, almost forgot, I bought this collectors edition on desertcart.com for $21.99, where at gamestop, BestBuy and anywhere else I saw it they were charging $34.99 for the Guide!! A guide that raises the profile of the game
For most visiting this page, you will either own or have heard of the previous three Collector's Edition guides that accompanied the earlier games in the series. Perfect...
Just as with previous hardcover editions for AC games, this guide for AC III covers every facet and every secret of the game (including those frustrating almanac pages) quite well. What I love most about the hardcover editions, however, is how they delve into the backstory a little more. Some of it is supposition, of course, but hearing about some of the thoughts from the creative team at Ubisoft is always fascinating and I love reading those parts most that you don't get in the standard edition. I also love some of the artwork throughout the book and the included maps are extremely well-detailed and useful. However, if you're simply into "beating the game", then the standard edition might be your better bet.

A very good guide to a somewhat underrated game
A great guide to help through the games many sequences, though it could have been more helpfull if the author had tried to give a bit of guidance for the control's on the PC version other than recommending using a console controller. Cover's everything in the single player area of the game, and gives advice on the multiplayer part as well (though I have not tried that so I can't comment on that aspect of the game. Doesn't cover any of the Washington DLC's for the game, but I suspect that was not available in the initial shipping version of the game so that's not a major point of contention, since I suspect not everyone purchases DLC for games. Still a great guide to the game.

Beautifully presented and laid out
Purchased the collector's edition as it was great value for money (only a dollar more than the standard edition when I ordered) and I am not disappointed. The book is beautifully presented and laid out, making it very easy to find what you are looking for. The walk through offers just enough without completely holding your hand either and it is filled with useful information and handy references in areas such as the homestead and collectables. One of the best guides I have seen in recent years and it has certainly made the AC3 experience more enjoyable.

Turn to Page 57
This beautifully illustrated book is essential to playing Assassin's Creed III. You may notice some odd typography, X's, A's, B's, etc. What's up with that? When you finally grind your way to page 57, you will learn that the game pretty much requires an XBox 360 controller. Turns out, the strange-looking codes are the controller's keys. Who knew? I tried to run the game on my PC, standard keyboard, mouse, and joystick. Not workable. Then, I installed on my Windows laptop, and with the onboard mousepad was eventually able to grind my way through the opening. Somewhere during that misery, I ordered this book. Saved my life. Today, my XBox 360 controller arrived. This is THE well-kept secret. No one bothers to mention it. But, THIS BOOK finally gives away the secret: you need an XBox 360 controller. It would have killed them to put that information on the first page. It would have left them open to immediate assassination to put an image of the controller in the book. Anyway, now that the secret is out, I plan to master the game, and will enjoy referring to this well-illustrated book along the way. Because, who knows what OTHER secrets it holds?

Awesome guide to get through the difficult areas in the game.
I've had Assassins Creed 3 since the launch date and I have to say this is the best assassins creed game I have ever played and I own them all. This guide is really amazing plus it even comes with a map of all the collectibles. The map looks like it came from that era. The guide is useful because it shows you how to craft different ingredients among many other things. It has everything you could possibly need for the game. I am still playing the game and I haven't looked through the guide that much but when I play it through again I will probably use it more.

Indispensable

Man sieht, wirklich jeder sollte alles, was er sucht, sehr schnell finden, sehr positiv. Viele ausführliche Karten sorgen dafür, das man alles findet, was man sucht.

Another beautiful, informative and superbly produced 'more than just a game guide' book from Piggyback
I have always felt that the Piggyback publications are amongst the best gaming guides you can buy. Assuming, that is, we are talking about something that we can physically hold and appreciate the feel as well as the look and, of course, the content. If you just want a little hand-holding to get you through a particular level then why would anyone spend anything up to £20 on a book when you can get a video showing exactly what to do on YouTube for free? With that out of the way, if you want historical background, narrative context, beautifully drawn artwork, detailed mapping and 'spoiler-controlled design' on the walkthroughs then you've come to the right place. Of course, I purchased the collector's edition of the aptly-named 'complete official guide' so that means a few extras. Things such as the 16 page 'history v story' section with a clever interweaving of game narrative and historical commentary from scriptwriter Corey May. There's also the almost obligatory poster-sized map that nobody ever looks at. Seriously, have you ever even unfolded one of these cumbersome and huge maps? See, nobody ever looks at them... What everyone, by which I mean me, does want is something that can be both a dip-in/get help/back to the game guide and a coffee table read mixing story analysis with authoritative statistics and more than a nod to the stunning visuals that have always marked Assassin's Creed out as not just another video gaming franchise. To sum up then: 338 superbly printed pages, at-a-glance walkthroughs for every step of Ezio's adventure and then some as you also get a 100% complete promise that covers side quests and optional challenges as well as the main missions...
