Excellent growth despite challenging environment
My new house came with a lawn full of weeds and I didn’t get a chance to start treating the yard until mid-October. By this point in the season, you’ve pretty much missed the chance to overhaul the lawn, especially since my yard is almost entirely in the shade through fall and winter. But I decided to try anyway…Killed off the weeds and waited 2 weeks to lay this grass seed. Laid the seed and starter fertilizer on October 25, 2021. First picture is from November 1st and no sign of grass yet; it took about 2 weeks to start seeing signs of germination. Second picture is from 4 weeks after seeding and there is patchy, but decent signs of growth that continued slowly in December. The grass held up through a few nasty snow storms in the winter. Third picture is from March 2022 after I cleaned up the winter debris and over seeded and filled in bare spots. By April, almost all bare spots were filled and very few weeds had popped up.This grass is phenomenal. It grew under dark and cold conditions and is now in the full sun during spring and summer. It is holding up under both conditions well and has yet to lose its color. My yard is now the talk of the neighborhood; am surrounded by gardening nuts and everyone was horrified when I killed off my patch of weeds to plant this last fall. But they all love how this is growing now and keep asking me for tips and tricks for how I keep the grass as green as it is. It’s all about the seed and this one is great. We are expecting significant sewer line work in the summer that’s going to result in them tearing up this gorgeous lawn, so I already bought a new bag of this seed so that I can reestablish the lawn. It’s truly beautiful and healthy grass - I highly recommend it!

My grass is so beautiful I actually look forward to mowing!
I started from nothing. Not a single blade of grass but plenty of weeds plus lots of shade. After eliminating the weeds and working the soil I spread seed and the seed starter pellets in mid October. (North Alabama). Then I watered and I prayed. The seeds germinated so fast I thought they were weeds! But I watched the grass grow all winter and it was thick and beautiful in the spring when I finally mowed. I had a large area that I didn’t seed last year so I started it a few weeks ago. That is the second picture. I’m so excited to see it fill in. I have some weeds but I’m sure that is because I didn’t put anything down to prevent them. Now that the grass is established I feel confident I can start treating the interlopers. Happy gardening!

Works
It does germinate but to early to tell how well is will do in the hot dry conditions.

Very slow germination. Lots of oxalis weed seeds in the mixture.
Bought a 20lb bag of fresh GreenView 2829348 Fairway Formula grass seed with an inspection date of Sept 2021. Had the yard core aerated before heavy rainfall (2 to 3 inches) two days prior to applying starter fertilizer. Spread seed the following day, Sept. 15, 2021. Watered twice daily for two weeks. Temperatures were ideal throughout this period. Averaged 60 degrees at night and low seventies daytime. Approximately only 5% germination rate after two weeks. The following two weeks I had much improved germination, perhaps 50% or more. However, along with the grass seed I had heavy germination of oxalis stricta weeds (woodsorrel) througout my front, back and side yards . Approximately 10% of my yard is now covered in oxalis.I can't put herbicide down to kill the oxalis until the grass is well establish. When I do, I'll have large patches of dead weeds until spring when I can again reseed (the oxalis patches are very thick and there is no grass growing where they exist). I have never had oxalis in my yard before and there is none in my neighbors yards. I can only conclude that there were lots of oxalis seeds mixed in with the grass seed. A lot of work, expense and time expended with mixed results. I'm rather disappointed with this GreenView seed due to slow germination and a lot of oxalis weed seed in the mixture.

Heavy germination
This stuff germinates even in poor soil. The best seed I have bought. It's tough grass.

Finally, I Have Beautiful Grass!
This is my second bag of this grass seed. I first bought this product about two years ago and because of this grass, I love my yard again! I started with an area of nothing but hard mud and except for a few spots, I have beautiful dark green grass that I can walk on and my dogs love to lay on it too. It is a thinner blade grass but actually very durable. It Over the years, we had put Saint Augustine grass sod down about 3 or 4 times and although it looked great, it eventually died. We have a large oak tree that keeps part of the area shaded so nothing before this grass would grow. The brand says sun and shade and that is true! Until I tried this seed I had considered putting down stone or brick in this area just to keep the mud out of the house. Watering is essential for this seed to thrive but, honestly we did not do anything special to get this seed to grow. I believe it is recommended to till the soil but, I did not do this. In fact, as some of it has washed into other parts of our yard and has taken root on its own. I wish this grass was throughout our entire yard , which is pretty much impossible because we have acreage but, I can dream!

Zero Germination
These seeds did not work for me at all. I layed fresh top soil and watered twice a day for over 35 days with zero germination.
