Works in Front Loader
Despite product info and other reviews, this Downy ball DOES work in front load HE washers. I use this in my GE HE front loader to add vinegar to my load when washing gym clothes. Works great every time!

One Less Thing to Think About when Washing Clothes, Towels or Sheets!
I have used Downy balls in the past when I had a regular washer so knew they were a fun item that my aunt and mom would love especially since I got them the bottles of Downy Soft Unscented Fabric Softener. What my aunt did however was sort of funny. She put liquid detergent in them and when they were through she wondered how they had worked. I told her that her clothes probably were not rinsed since these were for fabric softener and NOT for liquid detergent. She admitted that she didn't know that and I guess I should have given her more information at the start. I just assumed if I sent the softener and the Downy dispensers she'd realize they went together. Anyways after explaining centrifugal force and other scientific matters she now knows how the balls open up in the spin cycle and release the softener into the load of sheets, clothes or towels. Perfect! So you put these (just one) into the washer before you start it. You don't have to wait for the rinse cycle! ~The Rebecca Review P.S. My aunt said these made her flannel sheets really soft! It works and it’s easy.
My new washer doesn’t have a fabric softener dispenser. Works perfectly. Add the softener to the ball, close the plunger toss it in with your clothes. When the laundry is finished the plunger is open and the softener has been dispensed. Automatically adding softness and scent to your wash.

Nice product but with a workaround
My washing machine doesn’t have a softener dispenser. This works only after if you are cycles. The hook that pulls the stopper closed is defective, it’s only plastic. My workaround is using a rubber band to keep it secure.

Liquid fabric softener for the win
Switched from a very old front loader to a top loader washing machine. There was no place to put in the liquid fabric softener. These are great. I just love them. They work really well and I can have my liquid fabric softener.

Doesn't work as hoped
Great idea. Love the look. But functionality of it isn't the best. It is a it and miss when the ball opens and letting softener out. Lots of times the wash load is completed and the ball is still full, or has alot still left inside of it.
