This does the job. When you first turn it on and go over breakers, it can give you readings on 2 or 3 different breakers. Just pause, start again and be slow. And do it again. It has identified the correct circuit every time as long as i check multiple times and go slow and make sure it moves over the metal or conductive innards of the breaker. Very affordable for what it does, and then helps you figure out where the circuits can handle greater loads than they currently have or which circuits might be maxing out. I tested this only in a house that has 20amp breakers and 12 gauge (or bigger) wire. I bought 3rd party extension pack of sorts that has clips so I can test not only with the hardware it comes with for bulbs and outlets, but now with the extension pack I can test switches or live circuit wires. The flashlight on the unit is an added bonus, though most of us have our cell phone flashlight with us anyway.

I bought a house with a significant number of breakers in the panel which were not clearly labelled and this tool worked perfectly to figure out which circuits my outlets were on! I followed the instructions written on the label to scan the panel twice before locating the breaker (I just slowly moved the device from the top of the bank of breakers to the bottom and then back up again) and after which it was really clear which breaker the transmitter was on. If you have a modern dimmer switch with a bunch of LED lights on it sometimes it will give you a false positive because they are really noisy. Turn off any dimmer switched LED lights before hand if you're finding one breaker seems to be triggering even though you've moved around the transmitter.

It does exactly as advertised. Very handy to find out where all your CBs go. Sometimes my GFCI circuits give an indication on two breakers. I'm still checking that out but it works well so far. Very easy to use. later...Oh, I just had to slow down scanning the breakers. Works great on GFCI!

I tried this at home where I have AFCI GFCI combination breakers (as required by current code) and could not get it to work reliably at all. I made sure to carefully follow the instructions doing multiple learning passes before trying to get a reading. I also made sure to hold the angle of the wand as show in the manual. After reading other reviews I tried removing the panel cover and using the wand over the conductors. In all cases the wand either didn't trigger over the correct breaker or triggered on multiple breakers equally. I contacted the company and they were quick to respond. They claimed that it does work combination breakers and said I must have gotten a defective unit. They quickly sent me a replacement unit but it does exactly the same thing. While I was waiting on the exchange I tested this at my parents' house where there are no combination breakers and it worked fine. Bottom line if you only plan on tracing circuits in older construction this works great. If you have AFCI / GFCI breakers then stay away.

I am redoing an old house and the breakers box that was not marked as to what they went to. I plugged the sending unit into the outlet and then went to my breaker box and waved the wand over the box a couple of time. Now I know what runs off of which breaker. This made the job an easy task. I also bought the wire attachment, to be able to hook my sending unit up to individual wires to be able to trace them to the breaker.

It does what it advertises. Saved me a lot of time. The only caveat is it was a little indecisive a couple of circuits. Gave weak reading between two breakers. Haven’t figured out why but turned off those circuits and manually confirmed they were off / placement. Could be the way the wires are routed in the fuse box or because of some of the circuit junction boxes I’ve found in this old house… Found strange things I didn’t expect. Like the kitchen light being on the master bathroom breaker and the garage being on the same breaker as the second bedroom. Was able to identify all the breakers in the box and rearrange to make room for new project I’m working on. Don’t know how much I’ll need it in the future but, will remove the battery and put it in my toolbox. Overall, easy to use, accurate and well designed. Like that the dongle tests plugs and gfi’s and the bag is a nice touch. Buy a screw in adapter foe light sockets and a cheater for those old outlets that don’t have grounds.

By reading both the customers' reviews and the product instructions I was able to use product immediately. Very helpful information taught me how to achieve 100% accuracy right from the first circuit breaker identified. Have identified more than 20 circuit breakers in our house with 100% accuracies in identifications. Even helped me identify a hidden sub-circuit that was piggy-backed in another circuit. Very impressed with this tool especially for the new home owner or renter who does not trust how their circuit breaker box is labeled.
