- OTHER: The Silver Saw Palmetto a native of the Southeastern US that is particularly cold hardy. It forms multi-branched clumps of evergreen fan shaped leaves that are 3 – 6’ long. The stems do have spines. The 2’ long clusters of flowers are fragrant with a sweet sugared vanilla scent. Bees & butterflies love them! This Palmetto is an important larval host for butterflies.
- The dense flower clusters turn to 1" berries. typically in the fall. The fruit matures in 6 months from the flowers first appearance, so can be more frequent in warmer climates. Birds & other wildlife love the berries. They are edible for humans, but are not really worth bothering to eat. The berries also have several traditional medicinal uses.
