Go And Sin No More: A Call To Holiness

Very edifying and encouraging book!
I really enjoy Dr. Brown's Line of Fire podcast, and it was nice to finally read one of his books. While this book was released a while back, it's still very relevant in a Christian's life today. There were certain topics that convicted me and encouraged me to consider a closer, holier walk with Jesus. This book is such a blessing, and I thank God for folks like Dr. Brown in sharing such edifying content like this. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially believers in the Christian faith. Aside from the Bible, this book has helped me understand sin even more. It calls us to live holier lives for Jesus so that we can be used for His purposes.

Life Changing Book
This book is life changing. This book opened my eyes in a way that I had not seen before that teaching the importance of "holiness" is not "legalism". If we live our Christian life thinking that emphasizing holiness is legalism, then we will too easily make excuses for sin. This book does an excellent job dispelling this myth. Most of the books in the New Testament emphasize the importance of holiness. If we have a different perspective than this, our thinking is not Biblical. To quote Dr. Brown"Have you actually deceived yourself by giving yourself a license for sin in the name of "liberty"? Have you despised the precious closeness you once enjoyed with Jesus by calling it "legalism"? Run back into His presence-with all the discipline and devotion that demands-while His arms are still open wide. Where godly sorrow is found, abundant grace is also found."This book also does an excellent job explaining the difference between conviction and condemnation. The best chapter in the book is entitled "The Fateful End" (Chapter 4). The chapter is about one Hebrew Word aharît (אַחֲרִ֣ית). This is a life changing chapter.Deu 32:29 says:Deut 32:29 Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would consider their latter end!"latter end" in that verse is aharît. If we would only consider the aharît!I will not spoil this chapter in any way, but it is worth the price of the book!Blessings,Peter

Excellent book on a much needed area in contemporary Christianity
Dr Michael Brown succinctly demonstrates the absolute need for holiness in the life of a believer. Verse after verse, quote after quote, illustration after illustration—the author consistently hits the nail on the head. Contemporary Christians need to hear this message!! Including myself. Prepare for conviction, repentance, and a much closer walk with God.

A Must Read on Holiness
I came across Michael Brown for the first time this year, and have been surprised that I had never heard of him before. I enjoy the insights of this man of God who thoroughly believes in the power of the Holy Spirit while also seriously studying the scriptures, research and producing high quality Christian content. In God and Sin No More, Brown makes a serious call back to holiness. He begins by doing something seldom heard in preaching today - highlighting the dangers of sin, and giving reasons not to sin. The reason I love this is because we lack much preaching and teaching on "resisting sin". We focus on the remedy - which is needed and good - but after receiving grace we seldom focus on teaching sin. In my book No More Whacky Worship (God's Revival Series) , I make a call back to true worship which includes "Sanctify Your Temple" - a call to holiness. We cannot walk in true worship without aspiring to a life of holiness for God is holy.

Signs of the times. Jude 1:4
Jude 1:4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.Sad to say, most of the modern day churches teach a FALSE GRACE GOSPEL. The Grace the Bible describes is enabling power that we draw upon to be able to do righteousness. The false grace gospel teachers are leading people astray. That try to assure people even if they are walking in disobedience that they are disciples. This error sends people to Hell. Only those who are actually doing the will of God will enter the Kingdom of God. The False Gospel says, "If you prayed a prayer, you're in.No fruit equals no Holy Spirit in your life. People need to start leaving churches that do not teach the Word. The persuit of holiness legalism or trying to earn your way to heaven. One who is not trying to please God by walking in Holiness is not a child of God.There is no such thing as a "Carnal Christian or Lukewarm Christian."Persuit of holiness is evidence the Holy Spirit is in you.Thank you Michael Brown for your diligence in studying out the subject of GRACE.The Greatest danger we have in the church today is calling people "christains" who are not!

Excellent breakdown of what holiness looks like.
Dr. Michael Brown provides a comprehensive breakdown of sin is so destructive, dangerous, and foolish. He gives an important distinction between legalism and antinomianism. This book is a must read if you want to know what Holiness looks like and what it does not. I commend this book to all my fellow pastor and laymen. Truly we must go and sin no more

Holiness
I chose this rating because this book is much-needed in the Body of Christ. Too often has there been a tendency in the Church to interpret Romans 7 as describing the Christian's everyday experience. In this view, the Christian's struggle towards holiness is an impossible task, something that cannot be remedied. Brown helps us to understand that it IS possible through the grace of God. The grace of God, according to the biblical text, is not only "unmerited favor," but "divine enablement," which enables the Christian to live a holy life. This makes the most sense given the victorious tone of Romans 8. Amazing book: life-changing, Christ-exalting, and God-honoring.

It was OK
The book was OK. Some of it kept my attention while other parts were a little hard to understand. I like to read a chapter at a time, but these were very long chapters. I skipped many of the quotes. By the title, I thought it was going to be about the woman caught in adultery, but it wasn't.

Great Book
This has become one of my favorite books. It's challenging and quite sobering, yet encouraging at the same time. It's full of timeless truth and not difficult to understand. I like going back to it. It's a great read!
