I like everything except not being able to set the platform on the knife to enable a nicer cut straight through.. other than that, everything is awesome....

Lots of accessories to make different cuts. Good temperature control. If you make it too hot the smoke from the melting foam is toxic. Make sure you have good ventilation. Cuts through foam rubber like it was butter.

The unit looks cheaply made and I'm afraid that if I drop it it will break. The temperature control know doesn' even have a hot or cold demarcation. I have no idea which way is hotter for denser materials. I just set it in the middle and hope it works.It comes with lots of pieces and attachments and allen wrenches and parts... but NO instructions that tell you what each thing is for, how to use it or how to attach them! It comes with a folded user guide that tells you safety precautions but that is it. It doesn't tell you how to use or install any attachments! Nothing. There is no model number, no company name, no website, no email address, no phone numbers...nothing. For $140 bucks I should be getting a better product and some kind of guidance or customer service. Should have bought a made in USA product.

This is a no frills foam cutter. I appreciate that it comes with a case as well as several blades and blade fixtures. At least mine did. I basically use this cutter to create custom crates for the models that we build for domestic and international clients. You can cut straight providing you have a robust edge to run the blade up against. It takes a little getting used to the heat level. You have to find the sweet spot where it is melting the foam cleanly rather than having gobs of melted foam sticking to the blade or melting the cut more than you want. Of course this takes practice. Since my purchase, I have seen the same or very similar offerings for less.

Good product and in time

I tried using to cut foam, mounted the blade and plugged the unit into the wall. So far, so good. Pulled in on the switch, LED on. Still good. Foam was cut. But the switch was stuck on, and would not return to the off position. Which isn't safe, as the unit can overheat if the switch is held on for more than 15 seconds (per the instructions). Seems cheaply made.

I bought this specifically for the grooving tools. This particular hot knife is much pricier than others that are similar. It does not have "grooving", it comes with 2 bendable straight blades and you have to make your own grooving tool by contortions the blades, at least, that's what I'm gathering.There are basically no instructions.I have another foam cutter that I paid half the price for and it's much better as far as straightforward usage.

It is a great little set. It cost half the price of the "heavy duty" sets we use at work, and functions exactly the same. I will be purchasing a few more. Not to mention it was delivered early, at no extra charge.
