Native Vanilla Grade B Tahitian Vanilla Beans ~ 10 Premium Extract Whole Pods ~ EXCELLENT!
I have been buying Grade A Vanilla Bean pods for making homemade Vanilla Bean Paste; Vanilla Extract and Kahlua. They are pricey buy I always thought they were the ultimate in Vanilla Bean Pods for my purposes; and I always shop around for the best priced pods with the best reviews. This was the first time I decided to give Grade B Vanilla Bean pods a try.. OMG!! WHAT A REVELATION! First ~ the price was phenomenal! Next, I was concerned they would be dried out ~ NOT DRIED OUT AT ALL. Through the vacuum sealed packaged I could see they were dark, and I could press with my fingers and feel they were supple. And the smell? When I open the box from Amazon; the heavenly scent of fresh vanilla hit my face thru completely sealed vacuum packed bags.. The only difference is they are shorter than the grade A pods; otherwise ~ I am so happy I could scream!

Best bang for your buck.
These beans arrived as described. There were 25 grade B beans in a vacuum sealed package. Upon opening the package I found the beans were plenty fresh, appropriately moist, and had a great flavor and aroma. I used 4 in a recipe that same evening and found the flavor to be full and rich. I was unsure of what to expect in a grade B bean, but I found the quality to be fine for my intentions as a home cook that enjoys experimenting with new recipes.

Good vanilla
I make my own "vanilla extract" at home using vanilla beans and vodka (technically not legit vanilla extract, but tastes good so I don't care). Compared to some others I've used, these are great beans especially for the price. They came compacted/vacuum sealed, and when I cut the packaging open they expanded a bit and looked very fresh. They smell great - a bit more floral than I'm used to with Madagascar beans - and they each have a good amount of innards. These will definitely work for what I use them for and I'm quite happy with them. My only complaint is that a few came smaller/thinner than the rest, which is a bit annoying. I feel like I got 7 beans and three halves, rather than the ten that I paid for. So I'm docking one star for that, but considering the low price and the overall quality, I can still recommend these.

Excellent for Homemade Vanilla Extract
This was suggested by YouTube channel Little Hill Homestead for making Vanilla extract. Made two batches from one packet using Vodka for one and Jameson Irish Whiskey for the other. Taste great and very effective for homemade extract. Quantity and dollar value very fair for the quality!

MOLD AFTER 3 MONTHS / STOP THE PRESS - FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE READ BELOW
I was excited when I made this purchase. Attempting to start my own vanilla extract for family and friends. Used one package immediately. Seems to be working. Today I opened the second package to start more extract. Three of the bean pods had mold growing on them. I'm thinking, mold only grows when moisture is present. These beans are supposed to be grade B, less moisture than grade A. The package was hermetically sealed, not opened until today, and placed in an air tight mason jar. Air trapped in the jar was sufficient to act with the moisture in the bean, bingo, mold grows. Out of an abundance of caution, I have destroyed the entire package and bean pods. DO NOT recommend this product to anyone. Well, outside of a few politicians I can think of. But not real folks. Any recommendations for future purchases? * * * * * UPDATE * * * * * 13SEP2021 Received email from vendor offering to replace the item at no charge. Being a little older than the average bear, this avenue to resolve an issue, I have not seen before. I still stand by my initial comment of the packaging failing after three months is completely unsat. However, customer service will be thru the roof. Stay tuned. * * * * NEW UPDATE * * * 25SEP2021 I've been gobsmacked! As noted above the vendor offered to replace the damaged material. From the tone of their email, I assumed they would send replacements for the four bean pods that had mold on them. Not only did they provide me with 100% of my original order, they sent a third package. Total of thirty bean pods! ! ! I have never seen customer service like this before. I have two 1.75 liter bottles soaking in the basement, with 15 bean pods in each one. After 24 hours, the bloom of extract was two inches deep on the base of each container. My thinking is long-term soak for maximum flavor, at least one year. My original complaint of moldy pods still stands. From the swift action of Native Vanilla Store, they were equally surprised. Their customer service has been 4.0, a definite 5 star rating. This extract thing is evolving into a hobby for me. I will continue to support Native Vanilla by future purchases.

a bit small
These were smaller than expected, I am used to Madagascar beans rather Tahitian beans, and these were about 20% smaller than I expected. Commercial grade extract is about .8oz of beans per 8oz, for "Single Fold" and these were about .6oz. This is about 6-7 of these beans. In other words, if you want to make "Double Fold" with these, 30 beans would make you a slightly stronger than normal, but not quite as potent as it should be batch of 3, 8oz bottles. (assuming 10 beans per 8oz) At $36 for 30, including roughly $3 per bottle, (I opted for amber glass bottles) not including alcohol (which varies, and tends to be around 12-25oz, or 59oz, so you'll end up with some extra alcohol, or not enough.) but lets say $12 for some bottom shelf 750ml. six, 8oz bottles is about 48oz, so $36+$19+$14 (after taxes) means it cost you around $11.5 for 8oz of single fold homemade vanilla. Best I can find for "tahitian" pre-made online is about $20 per 8oz, so if you're wanting to make some to last a long time then you'll save yourself a few bucks with this method. There are other kinds that are cheaper, one looks like $11 for 11oz, but it's watered down and has sugar added, amongst other things. Ignore the imitation vanilla, it's not good. All in all, what I wanted to know, was, can you make double fold with these beans? Well, there's 3.6 oz (roughly) of beans here, and double fold expects about 1.5oz, so $36 will get you about two 8oz bottles, with some left overs. If I wanted to have enough vanilla beans to make six, 2x bottles, I'd need to buy about $108 of these beans in order to have enough, and each bottle would end up costing me $23.5 or so (less, technically because of leftover beans, if I can put those forward to a new batch. Seeing as how the alternative online is $30-60, that seems a good cost saving's measure. As for some comments of it being moldy, mine were fine, but I also bought mine, and then immediately went to work. Just because it's vacuum sealed, doesn't mean it has an infinite shelf life.

Decent-sized Grade B Vanilla Beans
These beans were my very first vanilla bean purchase, and I decided to buy beans because the price of prepared vanilla extract has gone up drastically since I last bought a bottle. Making vanilla extract is about a simple a recipe as one will ever have in the kitchen (besides boiling water for tea), so I decided to give it a try. The beans are Grade B, being slightly more dehydrated than Grade A, and are thus more well-suited to extraction than a Grade A bean. (Grading doesn't imply lower quality, just lower hydration.) All the beans in my package were uniform and free of defects, and the vacuum seal was intact on arrival. When I sliced into the bag, the vanilla fragrance was intense and pleasant, and last for hours on my fingertips. NOTE ON EXTRACT RECIPE: While the supplier offers a recipe for making vanilla extract that uses a ratio of 6 beans per 1 cup (8 fl. oz. or 237 ml) of vodka (minimum of 35% APV or 70 proof), I found a recipe from the test kitchens of Cook's Illustrated magazine that uses far fewer beans for the same quantity: 1 bean in ¾ cup (6 fl. oz. or 177 ml) of 80-proof (40% APV) vodka. In addition, the Cook's Illustrated instructions include heating the vodka nearly to boiling in a saucepan (carefully, to avoid ignition of the alcohol vapour), then pouring the hot vodka into the container holding the beans. I imagine that using hot vodka amplifies the extraction process, so that far fewer beans are needed per batch. Reviews for the Cook's Illustrated recipe say that it out-performed commercial vanilla extracts. I suppose I'll know after about four more weeks of patient waiting.
