Excellent safe product to discourage cats
These were the first mats I bought to keep my cats away from my bird cages. They are fairly sturdy plastic but also flexible. They are not solid so air circulates which I like. This feature also makes them stay in place as opposed to competitors product (the second set I bought) which is very thin plastic and smooth, slippery backing so doesn't stay in place well. They don't hurt the cats and are much better than chemical spray deterrents whether natural or not as sprays wear off and birds can't handle some scents. Definitely a product that should stay available.

Good money spen!
I used these to train my cat and puppy from sitting on the couch and/or entering specific rooms. Wonderful product, cant say every animal can be trained with this method but mine were!

The perfect solution for keeping the cat off the aquarium and they aren't ugly....
UPDATE: I just put one of the mats on top of the frig to keep the cat from using that as a "stair step" to the top of my upper kitchen cabinets, where I display my vintage cookie jars. It was only a matter of time before he caused a disaster up there, but no more worries about that! I was also able to bring my Shefflera plant in from the garage where it's been since the cat showed up....those are toxic to cats, and he would NOT leave it alone. Now, I put two mats together, put the large plant on top, and he just sits and looks, as if wondering who's dumb idea it was to bring these things into our lives? I'll be ordering another package!ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought these to put on top of my 24" X 48" aquarium that has a hinged, screen cover framed in lightweight aluminum and houses my 3 yr old Axolotl (Mexican) Salamander, Lilla, (love her to pieces!). A few months ago, we got a kitten....or he got us, wandered into our rural farm place.....and, of course, he soon noticed Lilla and was on top of the tank every chance he got. I tried a cat deterrent auto spray can that quit working almost immediately and a carpet runner I had on hand, turned upside down so that the little "stay-in-place" grab-spikes were facing up. That KIND OF discouraged him, but not on those days when he was very determined and sassy. He'd just "grin and bear it" and there he'd be, seeming to taunt both me and Lilla! They also blocked all the light and air from the top and were butt-ugly.I found these mats on Amazon and ordered this particular pkg vs a roll because the squares seemed like they'd be easier to handle (and they are very easy to use) and they were a good buy for the money. I'd also have extras to use in other places where I want to keep animals away.To cover the top of the aquarium, I used three full mats plus three others cut down to a smaller size (easy to do), 6 total mats, connected by the little hook and holes that are on all 4 sides of each mat (2 on each side). These mats solved my problem 100%, PERFECTLY! One time up, just as quickly off, and all salamander watching is now done from the floor! Not only that, the mats are custom-sized to the screen top and the black color of the mats looks nice with the black trimmed aquarium and screen cover, so they actually look nice.....well, they aren't ugly, anyway. They are VERY light weight, so no need to worry about them being too heavy for the screen, and I can see through them, down into the tank, which I couldn't with the "clear" carpet runner that wasn't actually clear. They work so well, we can leave the cat in the house unchaperoned, which we never dared do before.I docked one star because the little connectors are very fragile and break off very easily. Several of the squares came with at least one torn off and I lost a couple more just taking the squares apart. (They come stacked.) Of course, the squares can be connected with zip ties or twist ties, it's just more convenient to use the attached connectors if they don't rip off.

It works great!!!
We had a problem with our cats jumping up on our futon and peeing on it. Already had to replace one futon mattress so we got these and they are amazing. They keep the cats off and they fit together easily. We have them in sections so our son can easily remove just a few and sit while not havig to remove all of them. It's a cheaper and better alternative to any of the other deterrents I have tried.

Not reliable as a deterrent to cats
Not reliable. Cats sit on it. Doesn't repel them. Doesn't worth it

Safe, harmless, perfect for my cats
I didn’t like the idea of getting this for my own cats, but since I’m renting the place I’m at I can’t just put up fencing to keep the cats off the wall.My cats have always been allowed out back and freely use a cat door, after I moved here they started actually jumping onto the wall to get in the front yard. There’s coyotes in the area so this was not okay- but I didn’t want to lock them in when they’re used to going at and using the bathroom outsideSince I can’t put up fencing here I was looking into alternate solutions and this came up. I bought a package to test first, it’s not sharp at all and at most gave one of my cats a surprise when she tried to jump on it while I was cutting it up, she didn’t howl or hiss as if it hurt, just spooked and immediately jumped off itSo I bought more, wire cutters and an hour later and I had the whole wall coveredThe cat who had already touched it immediately stopped trying to get on the wall. The other one eventually tries to jump up, was immediately surprised by what she found and has never tried againIt doesn’t seem to hurt them at all and I can let the cats into the backyard to play and use the bathroom again without worrying about them going out front and disappearingGreat solution- though because cats are so unique and fickle I can’t imagine this works for ALL cats; but it sure as heck works amazing for mineI secured it up with tape since I don’t think the renters would appreciate holes in the wall with nails or staples, but since the bottom has grips on the tak it does a good job hanging on with just the tape

Homarden Cat Scat Mat 10 Piece Set - 16 x 13 in - Cat Indoor/Outdoor Deterrent Pad - Dog & Cat
This will stop critters from entering my yard through the slim opening in the fences that border our two neighbors. It isn't my property but all the local wild animals seem to think so and take it as a short cut. I started using these in the opening and haven't had a single critter so far entering my yard. They are with their weight in gold, until now I couldn't find anything that worked. These were not expensive and I had just enough grids to block the space. I'm so happy with this purchase, I told my friend about it because he has a skunk problem. She bought them, put them in place and so far for a week she hasn't had a problem. I think it's a wonderful, non-harming way to keep critters out of our gardens.

Works grey
Works great. I had replaced a section of my yard with rubber mulch, and found that the cats loved it so much they used it as their personal litter box. After it was cleaned up, I put these all over and no signs of the hanging around the area.
