There apparently are mainly two types of enzymes you can get - those that only contain a few enzymes, and those that try and cram many types of enzymes into one type of pill (excluding enzymes that specialize against plants, or proteins, fats). This appears to take the middle road. I've tried both types of enzymes and generally prefer the enzymes pills that have fewer enzymes in them so that the concentrations of enzymes is larger for the type of food that it is trying to break down. But if you need a particular enzyme because you eat a large variety of foods, then maybe a multi-enzyme could be useful in that situation. This looks like it has a little bit of phytase, which is sort of rare in most enzymes. Not enough to combat the phytic acid probably that you will eat in a situation or even against nuts. But it is probably better than nothing. Overall this enzyme has performed pretty much middle of the road in terms of effectiveness from what I've seen and pretty typical of that of other enzymes. Mainly it helps against gas for me. The only thing I don't like about these enzymes is that these are the only enzymes that have a taste to them. It is not totally unpleasant, but it is kind of unexpected to have a pill to have a flavor to it. As to the taste, it is hard to describe as I don't have anything to really compare it to. It sort of reminds me of the aftertaste after you've eaten raw papaya or pineapple. It is not sweet at all though.

Just Ok
I'm used to taking live probiotics like Kefir and Kombucha which have amazing digestive effects and benefits. This product was not bad per se, if you need a shelf-stable and easily transportable product, but the best pills are going to be refrigerated ones and the best products overall are live culture. Yogurt, Kefir, and Kombucha are way better than this, but it will do in a pinch and when traveling.

A more complete formulation than most; works well
I've been supplementing with digestive enzyme formulas for quite some time, now. Mostly, I've been using papaya-based ones. Those are good, but they still limit you to enzymes found in papaya; there are others that are beneficial but absent. My diet contains a significant amount of raw food (mostly organic greens, eggplant, squash, kale, spinach, bok choy, and some other vegetabnles), so more enzymes there. But still, I get gas and bloating; a problem that enzymes help reduce. I just need more of the right ones, which means going beyond what I am presently doing. This formulation takes me beyond. This formulation has 17 enzymes (the list makes for interesting reading, especially if you look up each of them). I have noticed a reduction in gas, which is good. The main reason for athletes (body builders, climbers, martial artists, etc.) to add supplemental enzymes is to aid in the digestion of protein. This is also a great reason for vegans and vegetarians to supplement with enzymes. What I have done is reduce my protein intake, relying on enzymes to allow my body to get more of the aminos out of the protein I do consume. The effect is a nice calorie reduction without (effectively) reducing this macronutrient. In other words, I get the same protein benefit with fewer calories. This helps me stay ripped while building muscle. I can't tell if this formulation is boosting that process. I would have to trial it for months to be able to confidently say it does. But the gas reduction is a big clue that it probably is.

Very good...because it works for my specific need.
I grew up with chronic asthma and allergic to most things...especially dairy. Dairy would send me to the ER without a moment's notice. I never really grew out of it and could not eat dairy till in my 40's I came across enzymes and that I might be missing the enzyme needed to break down dairy. Sure enough I can now eat pizza, ice cream, mac-n-cheese, bean & CHEESE burritos, and whatever else I want. I still have to be smart because enzymes go only so far ( I cannot be stupid and have dairy with every meal for a week). So that is my biggest test and ability to see if these kind of enzymes work or not. They work. I had 4-5 pieces of pizza after taking one of these pills just 10-minutes prior. No allergic reaction or nothing. My only complaint is I've been getting a competitor brand that is about $10 cheaper per bottle and the bottle has 180 tablets. Thus the loss of a star. There may be extra things in this that validate the higher cost and less tablets, but not for my uses. OVERALL: For my dairy allergy these give the right enzymes to help me enjoy many other foods.
