Seems to be well built. A hi-rez user manual should be available.
6/6/26 Update: I installed this device three weeks ago and since then, I have seen ZERO indication of rodent intrusion. None on top of the engine cover and none under it, which are locations where they had set up shop in the past. Months before installing this product, I had tried slathering the surfaces with hot sauce on the recommendation of a member of an Odyssey forum I frequent. I lost tract of exactly what brand they used but mine was "red." It did NOT work, but it DID cause the aluminum parts touched by the sauce to produce a not-so-nice layer of white corrosion. I had to wire brush all that off and wash the plastic cover throughly. In the past I had also added steel wool to the top of the engine between it and the cover to block rodent entry. All that did was divert them to the top of the engine cover rather than under it. I removed the steel wool today so I'll continue to check under the cover for a few more weeks. If they reappear, I'll update this review. If they don't, I won't. BTW: our second car, which has the same engine and very similar engine cover, is parked about 14' (center to center) away from and parallel too the vehicle with the device installed under the close side of the hood. Both vehicles, in the past had the same rodent problems and were treated identically to keep them away. I also cleaned the second vehicle same as noted above. The thing is, the second vehicle has also had ZERO visible rodent attacks even though no device was installed. I guess it will serve as an experimental control subject 😂 The ambient temps have been between 85 and 91. So that might be why they haven't set up shop again. This project and my observations will be ongoing. I will update this review with any changes, and then the weather gets cooler, like in mid-November 😔 I'll let you know if they are staying away! Oh yeah... I upgraded my rating to five stars.👍🏻 Original: Unit seems to be well built, operates as described and batteries are easy to replace if you locate the unit strategically. The white zips included are the type that can easily and non-destructively be removed. Here's my criticism... (1)the documentation (user manual) is a bit vague regarding the choice of actions on the red toggle switch...Test/Ultra. I have it set to Ultra during operation since that is the obvious choice but I was looking for explicit instructions to do so. (2) the accompanying paper manual is a foldout and is very small. I always save a digital copy of all manuals for future reference so I searched the web but could not find it. Customer service promptly and politely emailed me one BUT it was a low resolution scan of the paper version. Which, was kinda weird in that when I saved it to my iCloud file system, it took a long time for each area of the two images to "focus." So I thought, ok let me make a screen shot of it and crop out all but page one, thinking I'd do that for each page and save them in order. The problem was that the resolution was so low that zooming in resulted in a really lame image. So this told me that scanning with my phone would be pointless. So I cut the foldout paper manual into individual pages, used my old Epson 2400 flatbed scanner to create color-300dpi scans of each page to create my own high res booklet. I emailed CS with my issue and solution and they were conciliatory and pleased that I took the time to express my thoughts on the matter. So that being said, I think this is a good product using a separate power source (not my car battery) made by a good company with good ideas. Will it fix my rodent issue? Time will tell but I felt that I should write this review of the known, while things are fresh in my mind.

It works
This has been the only thing I tried that actually works against mice. I even ordered more so that all vehicles and yard equipment are covered and reliable. Just need to check batteries.

Stops the rats from making a nest.
It's keeping the rats and rodents off the top of my water heater located outside of my home adjacent to the kitchen window. Works great.

Rat deterrent unit totally worthless
This unit does not work as advertised. I was very disappointed because I just bought two new cars and of course I'm concerned about pack rats and mice getting underneath the hood and eating the wiring. The previous car I had to extensively rewire the whole right side of the car from rats. After that point I was very proactive and I didn't have rats again. However I regress, I bought two similar electronic rat deterrent units. I have them under the hood of both new cars. So far I haven't had any rats, but that might be just coincidence. Now to the core of my review, I've been having a rat get on my patio and peeing in the same location in a corner every night until it was completely yellow with rat poops all over the place. I cleaned with bleach with pine-sol, you name it rinsed it all down, cleaner than my house. For a few days I didn't get any more rats I thought well the bleach did it. Then I had two of these units that I hadn't used yet, I put batteries in one put it out on the patio right next to the rat latrine. I checked it every night make sure it was working, lights were flashing unit seem to be working properly. After 4 or 5 days I noticed feces on the patio. I thought oh a rat scampered onto the patio to use the bathroom or and Mark it's territory. After finding out that the patio had a rat be gone deterrent it ran away. I went out today to look in the corner where the rat was peeing all the time, and lo and behold there was pee all over the place and poops. Guess what, this rat away unit was one foot away from where the rat was marking his territory. My conclusion don't waste your money. Before I put this under the hood of my new car I thought oh I'll test it where I know there is a delinquent rat to see if it works. What a disappointment and what a waste of money. One star I'd give it zero if I could

Very satisfied and Purchased for 3 Cars
Since my cats passed away six months ago, we started experiencing a mouse invasion. First we set out traps but some small mice began to live in the engine of my car. After the repairs we decided to purchase the Loraffe rodent repellent for all our vehicles. We have not had problems with rodents since we began using the Loraffe repellents since April (3 months). The batteries have lasted all this time. We also use cotton with peppermint oil in the car and engine.

not reliable - don’t believe the hype
this thing worked great. for 2 weeks. the lights on it still work, but no noise or alarm that scares the rodents away. i’ve changed out the batteries twice hoping that would help the issue, but unfortunately it didn’t. this one was the typical POS - shopping right now for a different one 😞

The mice and rats HATE it
We're living in their habitat, but it doesn't mean that they should think that they have the right to choose our car as their nesting place! Their snack place. Their toilet! Perhaps overkill, but I've got TWO affixed (easily installed with the included straps) to either side of the engine bay. With the straps and the loops on the gizmo it fits anywhere. Pop in the batteries, press the test button, see the lights, hear the sound, and press the on button. You're done. So easy! The combination of light flashes and sound keeps the critters out for sure. Obviously, THEY HATE IT.
