Great for book lovers of all kinds!
As I got older and my taste in books changed, I was discovering that a lot of books on the best seller lists weren't really my cup of tea. So, how to find the books I could enjoy? First I tried a subscription to Publisher's Weekly but I found many of their reviews were tailored to the younger crowd (of which I was no longer a member!). Library Journal is the most helpful in leading me to the books I love. This is not to imply that the book reviews they print are for old fogeys. Instead, the reviews are aimed at every book loving genre there is. I challenge every reader to seek a copy and not find at least one book that suits your taste. Other articles about libraries and their issues can be quite informative and can let you know about the challenges for everyone's community library. But the book reviews can't be beat! If you cannot afford to buy a subscription-your local library might have a copy on their shelves. Bookaholics will devour the contents!

Still a winner
LJ has been providing quality information on libraries, the profession's issue's and materials that libraries select for longer than I know. I have been using it for 40 years to find books, periodicals and other products for my the library and for myself. It covers the broad spectrum of needs and does it well in one package.

Informative and a must-read for librarians
I am not a librarian but I did take a graduate level course in library science and was introduced to this periodical. Library Journal is quite comprehensive in its coverage - it features articles pertaining to the discipline, features on libraries and some of the innovations in spotlighted libraries, the use of technology in libraries (a recent issue spotlighted a small library in MA where patrons could check out Nooks, Kindles, and iPads!), and many more. One of my favorite sections in the journal is the sheer number of book reviews which gives an avid reader like me lots of suggestions as to books to be placed on my To Be Read (TBR) list. Many of the reviews feature books which are in pre-publication and there is also quite a comprehensive coverage of audio books, DVDs, software, and many more. I also like the suggested reads by practicing and retired librarians. Bibliophiles and librarians will find lots to enjoy in this quality journal.
