Cinematic shots - with bright blue lens flares - on a budget; but do position it correctly
For the budget price this lens is great. You really can achieve some cool, cinematic shots with very little effort.Lens flares are strong though, so it is very easy to overdo that ‘JJ Abrams’ look. The blue tone of the flares is extremely powerful too - totally a preference thing, but some people prefer a little more ‘muted’ tones. Evening shoots in recently wet conditions are my favourite types of shot with this lens so far - just enough lens flare whilst the reflection of the moist pavement/roads sparkles looks great. The biggest drawback is the amount of distortion the lens gives compared to similar (but much pricier!) lenses. The left and right thirds of the lens really do aggressively curve the lines of the shot - even more so if you don’t place the lens *exactly* right over the built-in phone camera lens. The attachment clips provided are great as long as you spend some time playing with the positioning to get it just right, I have ended up buying a separate Ulanzi case (with lens threads built-in) for my phone to ensure as correct a positioning as possible in seconds. Obviously curvature will always be a feature in Anamorphic lenses, but this particular lens feels much more curved than others even when everything appears to be set correctly. On a similar note, the far edges feel really soft. Again, this is slightly a characteristic of this kind of lens so largely unavoidable, but that can get even worse (and noticeably more one-sided) if you don’t position the lens correctly.Another thing to be careful of is reflections - because you’re essentially shooting through glass over the glass of your standard phone lens you can get noticeable reflections of lights, etc - again some of this is down to the way you set up and position your shot, but even then it feels completely unavoidable sometimes. It is worth investing in a tripod mount or something to keep the thing still when taking some shots - hand-held will often lead to distracting moving reflections in lots of scenarios. Finally, be careful of rotation. The lens will continue to rotate atop the threaded mount. It can be unnoticeable for the most part, but the slightest rotation of the lens whilst shooting can make your lines and lens flares wonky rather than horizontal/vertical, or make distortion curves more pronounced. But -- take a few moments, get things just right and you can create some amazing shots. For the price you’ll not find anything that comes close to this lens. Having used more expensive similar lenses from other manufacturers, this one absolutely holds its own.Still images added as examples (shot on iPhone 11 using the Moment app, straight off the phone with no post-editing).

Must have tool if you like to take videos with your phone
The media could not be loaded. I am not a big videographer, but now and then I like to take some small videos of our family day outs. Unfortunately I don't have a gimbal yet so please excuse a little shakiness in the sample video.I always loved the anamorphic look and the lens flares that comes with it :) Unfortunately the Moment lens is way out of my budget so I was really happy to see the Ulanzi lens at a very friendly price. Having used Ulanzi products in the past I know that they always put quality first, so when the lens arrived I had the first wow seeing the premium metal box it came in. Comes with two attachements one is a metal mount, which is just wide enough for my phone, but unfortunately it's rubberized inside parts are interacting with my touch screen, so I can't really use it. The other attachment is the standard clip type, which I found much easier to use. Ulanzi offers various cage solutions for mobile phone filming which work perfectly with this lens, but I have not used any of them. The lens with the clip is really easy to use, it holds it firmly and securely. You need to adjust the lens to be exactly in line with your phone or the footage my look a little skewed (if you watch the attached video you can see I haven't managed to achieve this all the time :D). Practice will make it perfect. Now for the optical qualities of the lens. It's a little mixed bag for me, as for videos it looks good, but for photos it's almost unusable for me. My phone, the Huawei P20 Pro is using multiple lenses all the time to achieve sharp photos and since this lens only goes on one lens the photos suffer from this. No matter how many times I tried I could not get a sharp photo out of the lens on my back camera, only on the selfie one. I will see if I can use third party photo apps, which only use one lens for photo to improve the quality, but right now photos coming out very soft especially on the edges with the back camera. It is more of the phone's fault than the lens'. For videos it's great, there is a small loss of sharpness, but that's expected. Also in some cases a very small purple fringing is introduced, but only at the very contrasty areas and it's easy to remedy in post (and honestly you would not even notice it if you're not looking for it). As every wide angle anamorphic lens, this one introducing a little barrel distortion, which you can remove in post if you want. It gives you the beautiful anamorphic lens flares, which is one of the main reasons to use such lens. This alone gives a very nice cinematic feeling to your footage, without any further editing :D If you want proper desqueezed footage straight out of your camera then you can either use Moment's camera app (which did not work for me, so I can't recommend that) or the Filmic Pro. Both offering desqueezing. If you are looking for a good quality option for your phone to create anamorphic videos I can recommend the Ulanzi lens, their products never disappointed me in the past and this one is not different. The small issues I had with the lens would make it only a 4.5 stars, but the premium finish and the excellent metal box that comes with made me lean more toward 5 stars than 4. And for the price it's really a good deal. Can't wait to have opportunity to use it more. But to be honest, you might want to use a gimbal with it :D

Well made anamorphic lens at a good price.
I watched numerous reviews of anamorphic lenses before settling on the Ulanzi one and I have been very happy with it.I chose the Ulanzi for a few reasons, the 17mm thread mount that is far more versatile than the custom mount that another manufacturer uses. The price of course and the build quality.I also purchased a Ulanzi case for my phone although any case with a 17mm thread will work fine and the lens comes with a universal clip along with lens caps.Image quality is very good both only a minor loss of sharpness at the far edges. It works fine with filmic pro and the moment app.All in all and especially at this price it was a great buy.

Good quality
I unfortunately didn’t get to use this lense for the purpose that I bought it for but all seemed to be working okay on the test that I carried out. I’m hoping to be able to make full use of it in the future. The build quality is good and looking forward to using it.

Decent vale for money
Did the job to a reasonable degree. The clip worked better than the clamp for my iPhone XR. There is a little chromatic aberration on the edges, but it worked fine with both the moment app and Filmic Pro

Superb
To really get the most out of this little gem of a lens you need a phone with a decent camera and an film app such as Filmic pro. The lens helps you achieve a more cinematic feel and produces a blue flare when the sun light hits it.For the price, this lens can up your game and help you achieve more aesthetic results.

Highly recommend
I’ve reviewed this lens and used it a lot on my YouTube channel Pisicul Meu. Spoiler alert: it’s great! Does exactly what it says, looks great and comes with a carry case and lens caps.

I'm happy with my purchase.
The lens comes with several adaptors to fit your phone; mines the Note10+. Once the 1.33x ratio changes have been applied (FCPX), the video is stunning.
