Great product for a great price
I am not by any means an audiophile, I just wanted some solid headphones to bump while studying or walking to and from campus and just general use. When i first got the headphones I was very pleased with the feel, they fit quite snug but once you've had them on for 10 minutes or so you find a sweet spot and they feel great. I was pretty disappointed with the sound when I first listened, the quality was superb but I was under the impression that these headphones delivered great bass. While i fiddled with sources, EQ settings and all sorts of things I did not feel they were living up to their glowing reviews. I finally realized that perhaps my iPod, phone, and laptop needed some help powering these bad boys and so I brought an amp into the mix. Once there was sufficient power to drive the 'phones I could not wipe the smile from my face. The sound quality was still amazing, incredibly clear highs and mids, and the bass was absolutely thumping! These headphones are definitely a high-quality product at a bargain price right out of the box, but if you are looking for more bass or volume to rattle your brain a bit more, I would highly recommend a simple amp like the Fiio E5 to give these headphones the juice they need to deliver sound nearer their potential. Overall, very pleased with the item though, they look steezy, not too flashy, they are comfortable, and they deliver an experience, not just sound.

Durable Headphones for Cheap
These headphones are quite good for what they provide: Excellent sound quality for a reasonable amount of money. These are at the same level as some $100 and $200 pairs. PROS: • Cheap for the quality: 60 bucks is a steal. • The range definitely beats many more expensive pairs (14 Hz - 20 kHz) • The rotatable right ear cup makes one-ear on-the-fly monitoring easy • Gold plated jacks for superior sound quality • Screw-on 8.5mm jack • Sleek and sturdy, it even comes with it's own carrying bag NEUTRALS: • If you are a bass lover, be prepared to be disappointed. These are light on the bass, so please go running to greener pastures with your HD 202 IIs and your Beats • 3 meter cord (I, personally, would never need it that long, but it comes in handy if you do) CONS: • Slightly uncomfortable during long-time use. These are meant for a quick check of things, not to listen and enjoy for hours on end. Overall, I would give this a 8.5/10. It has quite a wide range of use, but has room for improvement. If you want something specifically for studio work though, Sennheiser's HD 280 Pros will work just fine. And they're only $90.

Flawless to my ears
I really love these headphones. I have great street cred:>) so never mind with the audiophile posing...seriously, I prefer 2-way speaker systems with subwoofer if the speakers require it, and strive for natural sound to play music and home theater. I have been using Dolby home systems since early 1990s, with Laserdisc (12" optical disks) player, Pro Logic systems from Denon and Yamaha, and I might have had an Onkyo...but my Dolby Digital 5.1 system is a Panasonic, because I saw that it was just as good as the boutique models, and I was able to simplify the increasing difficulty of managing so many remotes. My speakers are Infinity, Polk, and I have a system from RCA, which are usually crap, but they have these amazing ribbon tweeters that allow me to have timbre matching the entire system, including dipole surround speakers (and yes, the center channel also has the same tweeter). In my cars, I usually go with a 6" 2-way system with separate tweeters, but that is standard now. That was my idea:>) OK, maybe others knew about it too. The first "high end" car system I put together was bi-amped. My first new car system was build with 2-way Infinity's with 2 8" subwoofers, which allowed me to keep the gain low and clean. That is what I like. Natural sound, and loud enough so that at my highest comfortable level, all of the components are operating at or below their sweet spot you could say. Some components, like speakers, can occasionally have poor sound when there isn't enough gain. That is how I like it; clean, natural. These Senheisers are not my first of the brand, but I never heard this model before. They are fantastic. These are the best headphones I've ever listened to, but the bad news is that in spite of all my experience and tastes, I never went nuts for headphones because I like hearing the sound in an environment. I assume everyone can hear the difference between headphones and speakers, like when you turn your head...some seem not to mind. I usually just don't like headphones and they are almost always a compromise. I bought these because I need to do some vocal tracking, and I will be running the gear so I want to hear only the mix. I need physical isolation from my own voice, as much as possible. I expected them to sound clean. The bass response is way better than any I have tried before. Even though I didn't own a lot of high-end headphones, I did work in an electronics retailer that meant I could try any I wanted (not to mention a great discount). So I heard a lot of good ones, but never bought any good ones. I just didn't want to spend so much, and the cheaper models just didn't satisfy me. I hope that helps somewhat more than just saying"I am an audiophile." I think that is too easy to be taken wrong. The full frequency response is flawless to my ears. I am hard to please, but not ridiculously so. My favorite floor-standing speakers are Polk, with 2 woofers per site, but identical drivers. I don't like the sound when there is more than one crossover. Having these headphones with great highs and lows (and all in between, since there are no crossovers) is just amazing. This is unprecedented for me, but I am actually buying a set for each member of my family (that performs music, a little more than half of them). It totally makes sense to have the same set, when you can get this great quality, and when you each spend time alone mixing your own tracks, I expect it will make it easier to collaborate.

Not as good as the Originals
After 20+ years of use, my HD 205's finally stopped working. so I searched online to replace them, but i had no luck finding them or headphones that tip toed the line of solid dj, studio & casual listening quality as my last (original) pair did. My Ole 205's - i purchased them from J&R back in the late 90s. And although they were not as sexy as other dj headphones at the time, they were well constructed, the price tag was good and they sounded great. I'm still in shock that they lasted almost 2.5 decades. Now, about these new 205's i bought here on Amazon.... The New 205's - i had searched online for replacements, but i only saw used models for sale. recently, i saw amazon was selling new models. (these are re-issues) I was thrilled the price is about the same as back in the day. When i received them, the packaging was nice. BUT when i opened it, i noticed these newer 205's are lighter, smaller & a downgrade on material & sound quality compared to my old pair. As others have reviewed here, they have a tight, slightly uncomfortable fit. I'm still trying to come to terms with this model's new quality & design. Another disappointment was the cable. 1) way thinner than my 1st pair. 2) if these are newly reissued cans, why didn't they make them with a detachable cable. Summary - compared to my ole HD 205's, these are cheaper quality, lighter and smaller. BUT the sound quality has good range & loudness for casual playback. i have used these for studio mixing. And i would NOT recommend these for young people starting to dj or studio mix. I do recommend personally listening to headphones & monitors over reading review advice. Sure, material quality, comfort, looks & brand name are important but sound quality & personal experience is more important. Peace

Headphones That can do Professional work
The HD-205 Sennheiser headphone is a marvel. These are the Headphones I have been searching for, for a Long time. Not only was the price so rediculously low, but the headphones (which I have known about, but for the open air sound and feel, in the 70's.) I wanted to get a pair of Headphones that could be used for many things Other than just to listen to my music. These headphones can serve as a Monitor for the Reaper DAW, and I wanted a flat response for that, and found it with these heaphones. The sound is Very true to what was recorded. I also Do listen to music. My music. The Program that does all my recording is the Reaper DAW. I Like this program because it is a Professional Program for home PC based music recording( I have an An Xclio Windtunnel Tower ,ASUS X58 Sabertooth Motherboard, Intel I7 3.07GHz Bloomfield Processor, 12 GB DDR3 Veangance 1600MHz RAM, GTX 570 NVIDEA Video card, Corsair watercooling, 4.5TB's of Storage, 2 Blu-Ray Burners,TV Tuner card, Wireless networking card, 7.1 sound and the ability to sample at 320 Mb/ sec. and up), using Professional Computers, and using these headphones are so true for use as monitors. I am new to recording mself, but have been in the Industry recording and Playing for over 45 years. These headphones will give you the performance, sound and versatility, you have sought in the studio, or the dance floor:(Did I forget to mention the headphones 'break'(flip-up from the Right ear so you can keep control of Live sounds if you wish). I likes the breaking feature. I am not a DJ, as my use is for Recording but it Sure is a nice thing to be able to 'break' the Right side, and listen to a live sound with the recording track/s in the other ear. It is an easy trick to throw all sound in one 'can' and be playing along with the track. The sound is So natural and the headphones are So light, that recording is a joy. The price I got these at was stonishing, I was so surprised. Keep an eye out for sales or refurbs for this model of headphone, as the money is Well spent for the quality you get and the versatility. Great headphones and a Great Deal: Amazon,... this was a gem of a buy. You will like the amazing things you can do with these headphones, not to mention the great sounds they can reproduce.

Great step up from earbuds, comfort could be better.
So, I've been in earbud land all my life and decided to upgrade. Totally worth $50. Everything just sounds clearer, more open, and sounds you haven't heard before kind of come to the surface. That being said, they could be a little more comfortable. They're a tad tight, and the cups seem small for circumaural. The tightness can be solved by leaving them on something overnight (I used my paintball mask :]) and the cups aren't uncomfortable, just not quite circumaural. All in all I like them, and they sound nice. They could just be more comfortable.

DEEP BANG FO' THA BUCK!!!!
I've owned several higher priced headphones than the Sennheiser HD 205-II Studio Grade DJ Headphones. But let me tell you, these sound right up there with the pricier sets. I originally bought the HD 205-II to use around town on the bus, walking, and at my favorite donut joint rather than using my pricier DJ phones for fear of me walking off without them or someone swiping them. I am now wondering, in terms of sound, what is the difference in my real DJ phones and the Sennhesier HD 205-II headphones. I'm sure there is a difference, but heck, I cannot tell the difference in sound. This set offers lots of thumping bass, wonderful mids, and silky highs. They are a little snug initially, but they loosen up after a few wears. The truth be told, the ONLY reason I'm not replacing my pricier gig Headphones, with the HD 205-II is because of the thin LONG cord of the Sennheiser. I'm afraid that the cord is too long and not sturdy enough to last during a rough DJ set. Please don't mistake that as a CON, it's just that I do a lot of moving around when I'm spinning. Bottom line, I am VERY HAPPY on my purchase of these headphones to use as an extra pair of headphones on my daily runs. If you are border line about getting these, don't be, YOU WILL HIGHLY ENJOY the look, sound, and quality of the Sennhesier HD 205-II Studio Grade DJ Headphones!!!!!

I bought this a a month ago, right now ...
I bought this a a month ago, right now I'm getting an intermittent failure on the right side (sound comes on and off) is more likely a cable issue but come on after a month of regular use?, this is my second sennheiser product (frist being an HD-202) and got the same issue with those, of course i couldn't expect much from a $20 headphones but its very disappointing from a brand like Sennheiser , as for sound is ok, nothing to brag about, sound isolation is ok too.

Good bass, excellent mids and highs
I have not tried any headphones over 200$. compared to JBL these headphones have slightly less bass but are extremely detailed. Good bass, excellent mids and highs. Better all round sounds than JBL syncros or AKG Y50, best sound and clarity goes to my monster n pulse. These are the only headphones I owned once and purchased for full price again. They are worth the 80$ if you are looking for clear all round sound, do not expect bass like earbuds or akg, monster, or beats. At 112 decibels they are loud as JBL and AKG.
