style changed
I bought this as a replacement for my original (2011) hat and, although it has the same product number and is the same in every other way, the new hat is actually deeper than the original. The hat is GREAT! the two straps have held it on even in very windy conditions; it is a breeze to machine wash and dries in minutes. I thought I had lost the original but it showed up after the replacement was delivered. I'm keeping the new one anyway.

Still a good value even out of china
Businesses are competitive and perhaps the China manufacturing gives a price edge. This is our world today. This is my fourth Tilley hat. I started with the original canvas hat in 1995 and still have it. I just retired my nylon LTM5 hat purchased in 2014-- it was warn extensively and was washed at least 100 times-I gave it to my grandson and he likes it. A great hat. I also had a TMH55 but my wife likes it more than me so she wears it. This new LTM3 is made in China and on close exam looks fine. The stitching, fit,, dimensions, visual, material, color-- all good. Someone mentioned the crown was round vs oval-- it is oval, this LTM3 I have looks identical to the LTM5 except for the snaps on the brim and the material is slightly heavier. The size of 7-3/8 fits me properly just like all the other hats. A solid thumbs up.

The most versatile Tilley style
There are definitely less expensive brands to consider- you may get lucky and find a well built hat that looks good and holds its shape, but you will more likely get whatever quality you pay for. I looked at a fair number of sun hats and read a ton of reviews before deciding to spend the money for a genuine Tilley. I settled on the LTM3 model as I liked the ability to wear the side brims snapped up, or get a bit more sun protection with the sides left down. The hat was shipped in a pouch, so it definitely got crushed in shipping. It recovered nicely, with little evidence that the hat was probably less than 2" tall for a couple days. This is a lightweight hat that fits true to size and looks good on me. I believe it will last for years.

Arrived Flat as a Pancake
This is a great hat, but I wish the shipper had spent the extra couple of bucks to put it in a box. I would have gladly paid extra for that. It arrived in an envelope, and was literally flat. This put some serious wrinkles in it that I'm trying to remove by stretching it over a towel. Otherwise, I love this particular style because of the lower crown. Fits me perfectly.

Loving this hat
I bought this to keep the sun off me while coaching MSF classes, but have found myself wearing it more and more. It's well made, lightweight, and surprisingly secure with the small head strap. I was also impressed with how cool I stayed, even in direct sunlight in the summer. This is my first Tilley, but certainly won't be my last.

Great hat! Tilly quality!
First off, I LOATHE wearing hats. That said, if you are out in the sun as long and often as I am a hat is really necessary. These hats are made for outside sports like sailing. For that they have a strap to go under your chin and around the back of your head as well. Really keeps the hat on your head very well.

Meh. Made in China. Specs were off. Crown is round but should be oval. Uncomfortable.
I did a lot of research before I bought this hat, but I returned it for the following reasons. (1) the crown of the hat (where your head goes) is round. Heads are oval. So when you put this hat on it presses against your forehead and the back of your head with a one inch gap on the sides (yes I purchased the correct size). (2) Made in China: This hat used to be made in Canada as all Tilleys were, but they outsourced it to Asia. Not sure if the Canadian version had an oval crown or not, but I'm guessing the workmanship was a bit better. (3) Dimensions were off. The brim on the left side of this hat was 2.5 inches, and the brim on the right side was 2.25 inches. Front and back dimensions were the specified 2.75" so that's good. (4) A bit of the nylon was not smooth, wilted maybe? I don't know how to explain that and I should have taken a picture but the nylon fabric on a small part of the bill wasn't smooth and looked how it would look if you folded the bill up. Crumpled and wavy I guess. So this hat didn't work out for me. Highly recommend Tilley move production back to Canada. There's a lot of Chinese hats out there, but not many Canadian hats. I'd pay more for Canada quality and a hat actually made by Tilley than a hat made by some outfit in China that makes hats "for" Tilley per provided specifications. Nothing against Chinese products, they make great stuff over there. I'm just saying a Tilley should be made in Canada. If you want to expand your company an open up a line of more affordable hats that are made in China, that's fine. Just call them something else. Chinese Tilleys, maybe Chilleys or something.

A quite expensive, very good quality hat ....
I chose this version of a Tilley as it has the ventilation around the top. I wasn’t sure about the size to order as the description mentions ordering a size bigger than normal, which was no help to me as this is the first hat that wasn’t S/m/large in sizes. I measured my head just above the eyebrows at exactly 59cm which translates to 7 & 3/8. The size is a perfect fit. I wore it for a whole day and it was very comfortable and not too hot. It’s quite expensive but very well made with a lifetime guarantee so I’m ok with that. It was packed flat in a bag and retained its expected shape when worn. Good for packing in a case. I did notice that the delivery confirmation stated the name of the hat and a size of 7 & 1/8 so I wondered if the correct size would turn up, which it did. Seems like a size has been included in the description text by mistake.

It's a Tilley. Great Hat
I left my LTM6 in a hotel so this was a replacement. Fits a bit looser for the same size hat than my LTM6 but otherwise is a nice hat. Don't think I will ever use the "Aussie" mode though.
