My 24 year old MB hardtop needed about 300 mL of this to restore the fun. No leaks here (yet?) but in reading up on this issue, 1 important thing about this stuff is it doesn't have an odor - if you have a leak in the cabin you'll appreciate that vs. ATF or such (not recommended) that might otherwise work.

Mercedes-Benz SL 500 top hydraulic oil change
This oil is for the hydraulic top system on a SL 500 year 2000. The old oil was literally black. I did a total cleaning siphoning the old oil out and replacing with the new oil which is virtually clear took about two hours and I must say the top is running a lot smoother. The pump is quiet and I’m sure the new oil will be good for the O-rings and seals in Top hydraulic system. For 2 quarts the price was right.

Can't find it anywhere else.
This fluid is a MUST for older Mercedes convertables. The green stuff foams and doesn't do the job.

After a full suspension rebuild on my 560SEL this finished up the job . As good as factory for 25% of the cost .
